In starcraft not saying gg after a game is a bannable offence (at least when it comes to the pro scene) :P
When it comes to Smite I would say calling gg after a game when playing ranked is pretty non optional (at least bming in the lobby will earn you a report from me), while in casuals you can kind of do what you want :P
I usually say "gg wp" at the end of every match to show some sort of respect to everyone. Sometimes a person may not play very well, and it can be frustrating, but I try to remember that sometimes, people have an off game, which I can be guilty of.
