I want a general explanation with flat penetration (reduces) to percent penetration (goes through a certain amount of defenses).

Which is more effective? And can it go together?

I heard from another member that they dont (I think Zilby) but it doesnt make sense to me.

Basic math (mistakes incoming), I am not counting auras or health.

Random god with 100 physical defense.

You have an item that reduces physical defense by 10. Another item that goes through 10% of physical defenses.

100/10 is 10

Reduced amount is obvious at 90.

With both items it would be-

100-10=90

90/10 is 9.

With 200..

200/10=20

200-10=190

190/10 is 19.

Even though its only 1 point down, its still more effective. Isnt it?

God i hate Math. If anyone could do this with items from the game feel free to.

Just dreaming but here is a list of gods I would LOVE to see in Smite.

1. Hunahpu- Mayan. The second of the Hero Twins seems to have a gift for being completely immortal. He's had an arm ripped off and even HIS HEAD but his brother just replaced it with a pumpkin and he was fine. He is the god of the sun where his brother is the moon. Probably another hunter but just think of what this guys kit would be like.
2. Toth- Egyptian. His power is hugely underestimated. He is the god of written language. I would want this one to be a guardian just by thinking of what written language does. It preserves knowledge and without it you would not be reading this, particularly because computers wouldn't even exist.
3. Od- Norse. Freya's husband is now a hideous sea monster. Enough said. I would probably make him a warrior but guardian would also work. Yimr is still the only Norse guardian.
4. Vidar- Norse. What a BOSS!!! This son of Odin is the god of the forest, revenge and silence. Supposedly

As far as i have noticed since the latest god: Xing Tian has been released his extremely over powered. And every match i have played since i bought him I practically won due to a skilled mage in my team. (especially joust-3v3)

But i guess what im saying is with all that cc that Xing has you can pretty much force the enemy players to eat every allied ult. "if played right of course".

Great combos i have noticed with Xing is A fully stacked Kukulkan ( with a full passive stack and also [Book Of Thoth] + [Warlock Sash] both also fully stacked, and obviously the items like Rod of Thuati.
Now if Kukulkan usually lands hes ult at that rate of magical power he mostly gets the kill depending on the heroes.
the nice thing is though Xing can keep them in place long enough with either hes second ability or hes ult which in most cases garantees the kill for kukulkan.

I have also seen this with many other mages.
Like:
Agni
Zues
Vulcan
Scylla
And probably others i failed to mention

I started to try hydra's lament on Ratatoskr, it gives some cool stats, but i had a question:
Dart with Opal Acorn procs on-hit effects, it counts as one proc because if you dash on multiple persons with Odysseus' Bow it will count as one attack for O-bow ( at least that's what i noticed ), so if you proc hydra, each lightning bolt will get the damage buff? Because it counts as one. I can't test it because i don't have anyone to test on and it's a bit hard to notice this in a in-game fight.

Telepath: Support/Control Mage.

Telepath is a highly versatile, utility-focused mage who can fulfill multiple roles in a team. His untraditional debuffs and crowd-control give him a plethora of options in a fight, and although his damage is not high, he can make up for it with careful use of his Dominate and Architect of Thought abilities.
