Bran's PS4 Adventures (Channeling My Inner Zilby-Ra)

Haven't been playing as much SMITE as much lately, due to various factors (still on Zelda, yes, but I've beaten all 4 divine beasts, so it's just a matter of time).

That said, got a nice night of SMITE-ing last night with newbiemj/bad_juju and timetomedicate/GOTZ. However, I just have to talk about 1 game in particular...

This was after GOTZ left for the night...newb and I figured this would be our last one (unless we lost horribly, at which point we'd HAVE to play another because you can't leave on a loss, amirite?).

Our Cupid chose first and locked in, so newb countered with Athena. Figured I should probably go Mage, and after just a bit of deliberation, chose Ra.

Our enemy team was a full party, and I had the lowest Smite.Guru Elo of the match. They looked like they had a decently balanced team.

As the match started, Cupid made it as far as our tower before:

1. Mommy told him to get in bed
2. He'd forgotten to pay his electrical bill and they shut it off at a very inopportune time, or
3. His cat ate through the PS4 power cord, burning up one of his 9 lives

Welp. I think we held out hope that he lost connection and would be back shortly. By 10 minutes I was cursing his name. In any case, for the entirety of the match, we never saw him again.

As the game progressed, not sure what the enemy team was thinking, but things were looking up for us. Newb was holding his own on the K/D side, while playing interference nicely in getting them off my back and setting me up for some good damage.

Now, before I go any further, here's a lesson for all y'all if you just sort of build the same every time. Athena + Ra - Cupid = all magical. Build at least 1 magical protection item. Especially if your name is Sun Wukong. Full damage SWK?!?

Anyway, I'll point out the mistakes in the other builds... Kali changed things up in the middle of the match. I forget exactly what she had, but one of the items was Spirit Robe...newb probably remembers more and can elaborate in the comments. In any case, she changed it up mid-game, and I have no clue what she was thinking.

Sol was perhaps the most "normal" of the bunch, though she still screwed it up a bit...personally, I'd never get Soul Reaver on her, but more importantly, she built both Demonic Grip and Obsidian Shard. If she was going basic attack, just Demonic would have been fine, in combination with her Shoes of the Magi. Her target should have been me, and that would have been more than enough pen.

Anyway, all of the above (maybe even Cupid leaving, lol) ended up working to our advantage. They did stick together pretty well, but good ol' Bran had a trick up his sleeve. For a night, he stole some essence of sniper from Zilby. Sounds dirty, but the only dirty thing was my aiming. Seriously, my ult was going crazy. I sniped SWK from max range behind his tower. I blasted Kali through a wall as she was retreating. I got a double on Kali and Sol. I think I had at least 1 or 2 other ult kills.

After a deicide, we got them to surrender as we closed in on their Titan.

2 final things...1) shout out to newb, without whom this wouldn't have been possible. 2) F Ra's healing. That thing feels incredibly nerfed, and I'm not sure Rod of Asclepius is worth it anymore...and on PS4, that's BEFORE the 4.6 nerf! UGH.
