Cu Chulainn is a high damage lane bully in the solo lane. He excels in the early game and dominates in mid game team fights. Like most warriors, Cu Chulainn falls off in the late game because can no longer fight well into adc's but still retains his ability to 100-0 most squishies and is hard to lock down.
- Good early pressure after level 5 and you've bought boots.
- Very good clear and poke.
- Can easily bully lower pressure solo lane picks and snowball.
- Cu Chulainn can run the game once he's ahead. He easily 1v3s and can 100-0 almost every squishy with his 1,3,Ult combo mid game.
- He's extremely hard to lock down because he has both a dash and a CC immune ult in each form.
- Gets out pressured by some gods before he buys boots and gets around level 5.
- Falls off late game
- Can't do much from behind.
- No built-in sustain in his kit.
On Cu Chulainn you always want to go Blink Rune. You get it first if you don't want Teleport Glyph or second if you do. I recommend teleport against gods who can match your pressure and blink against gods who are low pressure. If you go blink first, your second relic will usually be Shield of Thorns - but Cursed Ankh, Magic Shell, Sundering Spear, Heavenly Wings, and Phantom Veil are all situational and are very valuable for your team. Note that they should all be upgraded as soon as possible besides Phantom. Ankh into teams with a lot of heals. Getting it into Vamana is a must. Upgraded shell is very good for keeping your backline alive when against gods like Mercury, Thor, and Loki who rely on their basic attacks to secure kills after ulting. Sundering Spear is only bought vs Nike so you can delete the massive shield she gets when ulting. Sprint is great vs gods with AoE slows like Ymir, Yemoja and Chaac but its upgraded form is great at helping run down immobile gods who rely on slows to keep enemies away like Freya. Phantom Veil is for Odin but can also be useful against Yemoja and Cabrakan. Beads. while not recommended as you have your jump and ult can be bought sometimes into heavy CC comps.
Start off by buying Warrior's Blessing and Chalice of Healing. If you're against a low pressure god buy Boots and Blink Rune. If you're against a high pressure god get 2-3 Healing Potions instead of boots and get Teleport Glyph instead of blink.
Go to your blue buff and stay there until it spawns. Clear it as fast as possible and then head to the wave. Tell your jungler to do your blue before their back camps.
In lane just focus on clearing. When you go berserk you should clear the wave and then do the Totem of Ku for your team. If you're confident you can kill the enemy solo laner, do that instead. As soon as you can afford full boots, return to base and buy them.
Once you get back you can probably kill the other solo, just remember they also have boots. In some matchups you can 1v2 the enemy solo and their jungle from this point onward until late game.
As the solo laner and frontline during team fights you want to be initiating for your jungler and pressuring their backline so they're not free casting onto your team. Usually how this works is you blink in, ult as many people as you can so you build up your rage (focus on ulting their adc and mid), get your 1 and your 3 off on a squishy and then transform and use your other 3 abilities. You'll be killing whoever you focus unless they have shell or aegis. Cu Chulainn is very disruptive in fights with his AoE knockup and tremble. He can also push people away from their team. The disruption helps your jungler go in and help you kill the backline. Pushing people to your team is good but it usually means you're giving their other teammates breathing room so there's a time and a place for that. Be careful diving their backline late game. Blink ulting is still advised but staying around for too long will let their adc shred you.
Salmon's Leap is a great ability for dodging damage as it has almost no start up. You can jump over almost every ability on reaction. Make sure you land on the god who's trying to hit you unless you're trying to run from them.
When people run from you, auto attack them until they get out of range and then use your abilities, you do a lot more damage this way. I would only immediately use your abilities when you want some quick poke or when securing a kill.
Holding your ultimate so you can immune CC is very important. It helps keep you alive in fights and is one of the things that allows Cu Chulainn to take fights that other warriors can't.
Fight the enemy solo laner in the wave. you can 1,3 them and the wave because they're both line abilities and your 1 stuns minions so you take less damage from them.
When you take 1v2s or 1v3s, try to line up the enemy gods and hit them both with each ability. It doesn't feel too important. but you end up racking a lot of damage and can get double or even triple kills instead of just killing one god and then getting out.
All in all Cu Chulainn, is a strong pick in the Solo Lane. He can easily punish weaker gods and get a sizeable lead which lets him be a menace to the enemy backline in team fights.
