Introduction

Hey, this is my first guide over here, and I was basically just putting this into the world. I'll give you an explanation on how Chang'e works, but you'll learn more just from the build.

Without further ado, here she is, the Faerie of the Moon.

Pros / Cons

  • Good poke
  • Very slippery
  • Mediocre damage
  • Has a heal
  • Good matchup against most solo laners
  • Possible 5 second stun
  • Have you seen her Valentine skin and it's voice pack? Yeah? You know why she's amazing.

Playstyle & Abilities

Playstyle



The first thing you will notice when playing as Chang'e, no matter if it is Ranked or Jungle Practice, is that she has mana issues. She's kinda addicted, which is actually quite contradictory to her spammy nature of playing, but whatever I guess.

The first thing you'll want to do as Chang'e is make sure Mana isn't an issue anymore! We will get more in-depth to this in the Items section.

As Chang'e, your early game is simply weak. You are unable to clear waves, your opponent will overpower you and your Jungler will often need to babysit you, but it doesn't stay like that for very long. Once you complete Book of Thoth, you will have enough mana to stay in lane, and enough magical power to kill divers. With every item you get, you grow stronger, resulting in a peak at Chronos' Pendant, and you only grow stronger from there, being able to avoid ganks with ease and turn teamfights around in the blink of an eye. So remember while playing as her, those first minutes are though, but it gets a lot better.

Abilities and when to use them



Passive: Jade Rabbit


This is an amazing passive for a solo-laner such as yourself, which allows you to stay in lane without ever backing. The downside is that your rabbit takes a really, really long time to buy anything you order, and you can only purchase 1 item at a time. This means that you will probably have to back to buy Wards, as you'll simply be using the rabbit for your power items. Note that if you back when the rabbit is traveling, the item will appear in your inventory immediately. The second half of this ability helps you escape dangerous situations, as you can heal yourself and run away faster, or get one quick hit in before you back away safely. Overall, quite a good passive.

Crescent Moon Dance


This is your main source of damage, your spamming ability with only 2 second cooldown. Use it to chip away your opponents life slowly but surely.

Moonlit Waltz


This could very well be your most powerful ability, and it gives you a lot of protection against high burst characters like Odin, Osiris, Loki, ... The mana regeneration is also quite nice, but with this build you shouldn't worry too much about that. So don't dance into Anubis just to regain mana. This ability also gives you CC immunity, so you can easily avoid things like No Escape or Shards of Ice.

Moonflower Dance


Another thing that increases your survivability. The damage isn't very high, and the heal isn't either, but this also has a short cooldown. When you're low, just run away for a moment and use it every chance you get. This combined with Divine Ruin is also what gives you the edge over high sustainers, like Chaac, Aphrodite, Ra, ... Generally, you will have at least one advantage over the enemy solo laner, just play it smart and safe.

Waxing Moon


This ultimate is very powerful, possibly resulting in a 5 second stun on the enemy team. The damage is meh at best for an ultimate, but that isn't what you're looking for. You're getting ganked? Use it and dance away. Teamfight? Use it and make sure your opponents won't leave. It's really all about the stun.

Items

Book of Thoth


Now you may ask yourself: why would you build Book of Thoth? It's quite simple actually, this helps you gain enough mana and gives you a lot of magical power. I don't really get why no other Chang'e guides give her this, as it really is quite good on her. So stack this up as fast as Godly possible, so that you can fully utilise the fact that she can stay in lane forever.

Shoes of Focus and Chronos' Pendant


These two items give you a nice amount of magical power, but their real charm lies in their passive. Combine these two and you will have 40% cooldown reduction, resulting in a two second cooldown on your main source of damage. This is incredibly valuable, as you don't do that much damage otherwise. This is why Shoes of Focus are simply better on Chang'e than Shoes of the Magi.

Rod of Tahuti


Does this really need an explanation? 125 magical power, 25 MP5 and + 25% magical power? Just get it and wreck the enemy team.

Polynomicon


This has such a beatiful synergy with your spammy nature. This actually gives you nearly an additional damage ability, since you'll do nearly as much as your Crescent Moon Dance. Overall, a great item.

Obsidian Shard


This is also quite self-explanatory, you take out their defenses and keep on spamming, keep on spamming, keep on spamming, spamming, spamming.

Divine Ruin


This completely shuts down enemy healers. You hit them with your Moonflower Dance and they will only heal for 10% of what they would normally heal. Aphrodite is trying to heal with her Love Birds? Just show her who's the real beauty. Solar Blessing? No problem. Rain Dance? That Chaac is not going to heal at all. This will decrease your lategame damage slightly, but you will dominate your lane if they have a heal and rely on it a lot.

Actives

  • Greater Purification: This is just to help you be mobile enough and not get slowed down too much. Get this against a team with a lot of CC.
  • Greater Sprint: If you find yourself caught a lot far from home or are you up against someone like Nemesis? Just get this and show them they can't just slow you.
  • Fist of the Gods: This is if you need an additional stun, so when you don't have enought CC on your team to keep control.

What NEVER to get

Final words

As Chang'e, you should be able to survive ganks from about everywhere, heal yourself and deal quite a lot of damage to punish them for every mistake they make. SmiteFire & Smite

Smite is an online battleground between mythical gods. Players choose from a selection of gods, join session-based arena combat and use custom powers and team tactics against other players and minions. Smite is inspired by Defense of the Ancients (DotA) but instead of being above the action, the third-person camera brings you right into the combat.
