Mercury Build

Notes THE BUILD

Assassins Blessing: THIS IS AN EARLY GAME ITEM ONLY. Literally only use this to help clear jungles early. Right around the time when its time to buy deathbringer is when you should be selling this item. The reason why I say this is because this item grants no fighting advantage against gods (10 pen but who cares). To specify your selling it around the time your getting deathbriger because one deathbringer is expensive so that 400 gold will often help you buy it. Two it loses its value because at this time you will be able to one shot the side creeps with made you look then you can just auto the big one.

Warrior Tabi: You need the movement speed and power.

Rage: You need the crit chance, getting it early game helps you get those stacks online.

Deathbringer: Will make you hit super hard.

Stone cutting sword: You will need more movement speed and will help you box tanks in late game.

Titans bane: Come on everyone knew this was coming. You need this item to be able to do anything against tanks and it helps with squishes.

Poisoned star: You will basically grantee that you hit crits every time. You get better boxing abilities because of the slow. The 15 attack speed is nice and so is reducing the enemy damage output.

NOTE
Why you don't see attack speed in my build is because of mercs ability called maximum velocity which is his steroids which gives him very high attack speed. Your typically never gunna engage when this ability is not up. Because your gunna be farming ganking a lane (when you gank you will use this ability) then go farm some more then gank again (maximum velocity would have charged up again)

Summary

QUICK SUMMARY ON HOW TO PLAY MERC:

EARLY AND MID GAME: Farm, farm, farm, and gank early game. Use Made You Look to farm. Then use a combo of your one to get initial damage before the engagement. Then use your three or your ult followed up by your 2 then kill them with autos. Your ult is gunna stun the enemy then your 2 is gunna give you attack speed which will allow you to shred the enemy with autos. Your 3 will displace the enemy hopefully your teammate on that lane can stun or slow the enemy then you follow up with your 2 and shred the enemy with autos again.

TEAM FIGHTS AND LATE GAME: During the team fight stage you can poke and displace the enemy front liners or you can ult and kill the squishes in the back but that is typically more risky. A combo of these is what I find best. You displace the enemy front liners finish them off with your team. Then you ult to the squishes who are probably retreating and pick 1 or 2 of them off

I don't know if I like the idea of building Rage, especially in the early game when I prefer Stone Cutting Sword.

Also, your build has no lifesteal, which is vital to your sustain in the teamfight phase where you can be easily poked out. So I think Bloodforge should be built.

I also think you could use more attack speed. I saw in your writeup that you rely on Maximum Velocity as an engaging tool, but having that attack speed when the ability is down can be beneficial to your overall DPS, especially when you are using the ability to escape for the slow immunity.

Rage should be built early, but I don't agree with it second, it should be built third. Either Stone Cutting Sword or Hastened Katana should be built second.

E.g.: Warrior Tabi, Stone Cutting Sword, Rage, Deathbringer, Titan's Bane, Bloodforge.

I use to grab bloodforge instead of titans bane. Not just for the fact of the lifesteal also because of the fact that you get 10% movement speed after a kill helping you run after you snipe a kill. But it rendered me useless against tanks. I typically found that if I ult the backliners then use my three as an escape to the jungle I can still most of the time get away.

Also, I agree with you about attack speed equating to the overall DPS. This would be useful for late game since there is not as much ganking and farming. But early game there is no point to the attack speed because of like what I said in the the note by the time you came from your gank and farmed your two will be ready again to gank. Also I dont think there is wiggle room to sacrifice anything for attack speed late game (maybe get wind demon instead of rage?).
