Build Summary

Starter Items

Notes I start with a ward at all times. With the season change I have noticed mid being targeted way sooner than before. Keep an eye on if your team gets tiki because that's a big help with mana usage as well. Pick whatever relic you want but I always buy the teleport glyph to make a quick buy then pop back to continue the minion farm.

Notes Iv gone with this build numerous times and my explanation for it is making sure to balance damage and pen with a touch of cooldown. Now the reason I go with the rod of desolation is the flat pen and the ability cooldown it offers. If you play kuku well and you can get kills then it'll really be the only cooldown item you need. Which brings us to why I buy the warlock staff.not only does it provide mana for kukus passive and the book of Thoth. It also stacks more mag damage as you build the stacks, has 10% pen and it provides extra health as well. Once I get that the damage increase from just that alone is noticable. But right after the staff get the good ol rod of jabuti for more % pen and the massive damage boost to low health enemies. Which brings us to soul reaver. That provides not only mana for both the passive and the book of Thoth. But it also scales damage based on enemy health. Which with how much damage your gonna have will be very noticeable regardless if your hitting a tank or not. Then once you get your full build grab your damage camp, both potions and just take a peek at your magical power. It's nuts lol.

Kukulkan's Skill Order Notes I think I did the skills right. I alternate getting his speed skill or his wind bolt depending on the assassin. Cause if you have an assassin that can jump in it's nice to have his movement buff right after you level up to 2 that way you have an early get outta dodge card to play.

Extended Build

My first guide but it will be short and sweet.

Do you want a kuku with over 1,400 Mag Dmg at end game. Yeah you do. This build is what I use all the time and iv never had to change it. With all the base items upgraded his power should sit around 1,000. After the Dmg camp and both potions it will skyrocket to 1,400 easy. It's great with flat pen, % based pen and just enough cooldown to live with.

As a side note.

ALWAYS BUY AT LEAST ONE WARD. it helps.

This is cool. My big concern is that you only have 15 flat and 20% pen, which sometimes isn't enough. I think if you swap out Warlock's Staff for something like Obsidian Shard, you can deal a lot more damage to tanks. Plus, Warlock's Staff is a bit weird as a third item because it takes awhile to stack.

It's not too bad in 3rd slot latest because it has like nearly 100 power and 10% pen base, but I do agree getting an Ob Shard is just easier for this build, also big kuku ults with Ob Shard passive.

I have learned that I can reply to your comment instead of posting a new one lol. I do appreciate the feedback for sure. Normally yes the pen wouldn't be enough but with the amount of damage kuku gets late and end game more than makes up for the lack of major pen. For big bulky tanks yeah I can see placing the obsidian shard but not with the staff. Mostly because the staff provides mana which adds to kukus passive and the book of Thoths passive on top of it. If I was gonna use the obsidian shard I'd honestly replace the either rod of Tahiti or the rod of desolation. But I haven't had many games where iv needed to worry too much about the tanks. I'm just a fan of how I have this cause end game once it's all said and done kukus ult will 85% of the time one shot full health assassin's and hunters. I am curious changing things around. Iv tried different builds.

I mean, Warlock's Staff isn't that impactful because it has 200 mana. That 200 mana is only 28 magical power for Kukulkan when you could just get more pen and hit harder with all the power you get from Book of Thoth and the rest of your items.

Similar thing goes for Archmage's Gem. The item as a whole compared to Gem of Focus or Pendulum of Ages is just very meh, yes the mana is synergistic but is it actually worth it? Let's look.

Archmage's Gem - 120 power (148), 200 mana, 25mp5. Maximum of 30% power bonus damage on an ability (not consistent, needs charging, wastes on minions).

Gem of Focus - 100 power, 250 health, 15mp5. Maximum of 9% increased movement speed and damage dealt, 6% maximum damage reduction (easy to stack and stay stacked, consistent damage, great self peel as well as damage).

Pendulum of Ages - 90 power, 20mp5, 20% CDR. Maximum of 190 power and bonus mana sustain when you start to lose that power (Easy to stay at full 190 power because of Book of Thoth, CDR arguably more valuable because there is less CDR in your build).

Generally, I prefer the Pendulum of Ages on Kuku because it offers a lot more power and most of your item choices are going to lack CDR. I feel that until Archmage's Gem receives a buff it is quite lacking compared to the other 2 options.

An alternative I could suggest though for Kuku is Ethereal Staff instead of Rod of Tahuti. Tahuti and its upgrades are expensive, whereas E-Staff gives you decent 'damage' to tanks and the stolen mana increases your power. Really nice for Kuku, for reference I'll drop a few builds here you can try out if you'd like.

Sands of Time ( Pendulum of Ages) > Book of Thoth > Spear of Desolation / Divine Ruin > Soul Reaver > Obsidian Shard > Ethereal Staff / Calamitous Rod of Tahuti

Sands of Time ( Pendulum of Ages) > Book of Thoth > Book of the Dead > Soul Reaver > Obsidian Shard > Ethereal Staff / Calamitous Rod of Tahuti

Conduit Gem ( Gem of Focus) > Book of Thoth > Breastplate of Valor > Book of the Dead > Soul Reaver > Obsidian Shard
