Introduction

Hey there, this is my guide to using Freya, The Queen of The Valkyries. I have been using, Freya for a while now and haven't been doing completely and utterly terrible with my build, so I thought "Why not share it with the world?"

Freya is quite squishy at the low levels and fairly mana dependant throughout the game, this means at the start of each game of when you are able to, try and get the Blue mana buff, as it will help you more than you think.

This is my first guide, so any ideas and help are more than welcome. :) Enjoy!

Items

Start of Game

I like to grab Tier Two of Fatalis because when Freya is using her Pulse you don't get enough shots off in time to do any major damage, to minions or the enemy god(s). It also increases movement speed so in those crucial moments where the enemy is running away, that extra 10% movement will bring those few strides closer enabling you to get that final blow and push the their tower or gank another lane.

Mid Game

After I have bought my first two items, I buy Polynomicon for it's passive on Tier Three which makes your next basic attack do +100% damage. Combining Polynomicon with Irradiate, Pulse, Banish or Valkyrie's Discretion will make you do 85 (with no enhancements) instead of the 42.5] you would be doing at level 5.

Late Game

The second last item I buy is Gem of Isolation, due to it's ability to hinder enemy movement speed, making killing them that much easier with the now very high damage Freya. It is also a good choice as it increases your mana and health by +250 and your magical power by +70. Gem of Binding and Gem of Isolation are very similar and it was a tough choice choosing one or the other, but after doing some research I found out that it doesn't really matter which one you chose because even though you are using Freya's abilities, you are still hitting them with "Basic" attacks so Gem of Isolation seemed like the better choice because it applies to her ult as well.

Cunsumables

I don't buy a health potion at the start simply because if you a being careful and only attacking minions to try and level up quickly, you shouldn't lose too much health.

Actives

I swapped out meditation for Combat Blink because using Combat Blink makes it easier to get out of those sticky situations like escaping an ult that doesn't cancel ability use or retreating while low health etc...
The next item I buy is Tier One Shoes because of the 6% movement speed it gives you and with the next two tiers they only get progressively better ending on Shoes of Focus which gives you cooldown reduction.

Mid Game

I use Demonic Grip for it's 25% attack speed bonus and +60 magical power on Tier Three. This lets Freya do even more damage to her opponent(s) ending their lives even qsuicker and helping you and your team, push that lane. Having Demonic Grip combined with Fatalis just boosts the attack speed unbelievably, so if you're using Pulse it lets you shoot 7 or 8 times instead of the base stat of 4.

Late Game

For my final item I take Rod of Tahuti because Freya being a magical attack heavy player, gives her an extra +125 Magical Power not including Rod of Tahuti's passive. This item just puts the cherry on top for fraya making her incredibly strong however you play her.

Consumables

I buy a single mana potion at the start of the game because "just incase" I need it after my mana buff runs out and I haven't had enough time to slay the enemy and head back to spawn.

Actives

I found Hand of the Gods a useful passive as Freya has some wave clearing issues, especially in the early levels and it can be upgraded to Fist of the Gods to stun enemies which in the end, benefits you in killing them. I tend to buy Hand of the Gods early in the game, usually between Fatalis and Shoes of Focus and end up with Tier Three late into the game, usually when pushing Phoenixes.

Skills

Irradiate is Freya's First skill. Using this skill gives Freya a buff that makes her basic attacks do additional magical damage. It has a base cooldown of 11 seconds and costs 60 mana to cast, with an additional 5 per skill point put into it, finishing with a final ccasting cost of 80 mana.

Pulse is Freya's Second skill. Using Pulse makes Freya's basic attacked ranged. What does this mean though? It means that after pressing the number Two key, when Freya attacks, instead of swinging her sword at the enemy, she shoots these "pulses" at them which slows Gods and when upgraded, can do major damage to the strongest of Gods. It has a base damage of 20 which increases by 10 every time you put a skill point into it ending with a total of 60base damage and a castong cost of 80 mana. It has a cool down time of 11 seconds.
Banish is Freya's Third skill. This skill essentially is a stun but it isn't like the stun Ymir or Apollo has, this stun can also save the enemy from being killed by a team mate if not used correctly. You're probably thinking "How can it save them, it's a stun?" This ability lifts any enemy Gods or minions into the air, whilst in the air these enemies can not move or take damage. Banish with a single skill point lifts the target(s) into the air for 1 second, adding 0.25 seconds for every skill point added, giving you a total of 2 seconds of "Banishment". This skill costs 75 mana to cast no matter what level it is, but the cool down starts at 19 seconds but fully upgraded it only takes 15 seconds to recharge.
This is Freya's Fourth skill, also known as her Ultimate or for short Ult. What this skill does is when activated, Freya flies up into the air and is able to move for a short period of time. While she is flying, Freya is able to fire up to Four explosive pulses which do splash damage and does 130 damage with +35% magical power and a casting cost of 90 mana, after 5 skill points have been put into Valkyrie's Discretion it does 240 damage with a 190 second cool down and a casting cost of 110 mana.

Combinations

or

Pulse, Banish, Irradiate finally Valkyrie's Discretion

or

1, 3, 2 then 4

I don't know how popular this combo is but it works fro me so if it 'aint broke, don't fix it! I use it in that order because with Pulse you do an insane amount of damage especially if you are over-levelling them like Freya should be. If the Pulse doesn't kill them but leaves them close to death, they will most likely retreat to their tower or get far enough away to teleport, if they are running, use your Banish to halt their movement enough for you to catch up enough to use Irradiate. If you couldn't get close enough to kill them with Irradiate use your ult Valkyrie's Discretion to chase them down and kill them with the extremely powerful explosions Freya's ult sends out.

If after using your pulse, the enemy doesn't run and you feel you are strong enough to kill them (Don't get cocky, that will ALWAYS get you killed) use your Irradiate to dish more damage into them, then finally use your ult to finish them or off or enough to for a team mate to kill them.

Freya's Ult will let her Tower Dive (chasing an enemy into their tower/base for a kill) easily, though if you plan on Tower Diving, make sure you enter her ult before entering the tower radius because towers still do damage if you are targeted before ulting.

Pros / Cons

Pros

+ High Single Target Damage
+ Great Tower Diver Due To Valkyrie's Discretion
+ Great Ganker
+ Extremely Agile

Cons

- Squishy
- Banish Can Do More Harm Than Good
- Low Defense
- Does Not Work Well With Certain Gods

I'm curious as to why you don't finish upgrading Fatalis into Hastened Fatalis. I personally think really helps her survivability, because with Hastened Fatalis and max rank shoes, she can effectively backpedal and keep melee champs out of reach.

Actually she wont even need any Gem, with Fatalis you should be able to be fast enough.

Obsidian Shard for example is pretty op with freya.

i would say get gem of isolation. binding only gives you the slow on basics, 1 and 2 while iso gives the slow to your 1, 2 and ult.

Hand of the Gods is pretty good for Freya, she lacks in wavecler. A ao kuang for example wont outpush her so hard with this item

Give some more in depth info. Asclepius is interesting, but I want to know why you get it.

Rod of Asclepius?! Good on Freya?! No, please no. Rod of Asclepius is much, much better on Healing-based gods, even though you build Lifesteal on Freya, and Rod of Asclepius does increase Lifesteal.

My suggestion? Change Rod of Asclepius into Rod of Tahuti. More damage, more profit.

And another thing, I'm really confused about Hand of the Gods. It might be good, due to the lack of wave clearing of Freya, and also to secure the Harpies.

Oh, and Meditation. You can solve the problem of Meditation with good mana management and Blue Buffs. Get rid of Meditation, pls.

Aside, I see no problem with the build. BB coding looks good, too. But I think you need more information, more in-depth explanations.

Edit: You could also move away the lore part... Pretty useless for the guide, no offense.
