Pendulum of Ages as
Poseidon is a god who wants to spam
Whirlpool to control the lane, the 20% Cooldown Rate is crucial for ensuring this and appart from that he needs,
Release The Kraken!, to be up for every objective fight.
Spear of Desolation as
Poseidon has a very long cooldown on his powerful Ultimate, he needs help getting it back quickly. Since his large area attacks easily tag multiple enemies for assists or kills, this item's passive constantly lowers his cooldowns, allowing him to
Release The Kraken! much more often in a single match.
Book of Thoth its a core item for
Poseidon as he has a massive 100% damage scaling on his Kraken center, he benefits hugely from the raw power this item gives. The extra mana also lets him to spam constanly his
Trident to maintain his speed, something really important as we dont have any scape on
Poseidon
Blinking Abyss as
Poseidon has no dash or jump, he is very easy to trap with walls or cages. This item gives him a Teleport to escape those deaths or to blink instantly into range for a surprise
Release The Kraken!.
Obsidian Shard as
Poseidon is designed to delete enemies with a single burst, he needs Penetration to ensure his damage sticks. This item ensures that even tanky warriors cannot shrug off your ultimate, allowing you to threaten the entire enemy team, not just the squishies.
Rod of Tahuti its the power spike for
Poseidon since this item's passive boosts your total Intelligence by 25%, it acts as a massive multiplier, giving you the highest possible power to ensure your ultimate deletes enemies instantly in the late game.
Gem of Focus as
Poseidon has no dash to escape danger, he relies entirely on running fast to survive. This item gives him up to 12% extra Movement Speed when using abilities, which stacks with his passive
Changing Tides and
Trident making him nearly impossible to catch while he zooms around the fight.

Totem Of Death instead of
Gem of Focus in case you are facing a tanky comp and you need to decrease their protections heavily.
Gem of Focus instead of
Blinking Abyss in case you prefer to have more lifesteal than a better scape.
Divine Ruin instead of
Spear of Desolation if the enemy has heavy healing (e.g.,
Aphrodite,
Baron Samedi, or high Lifesteal builds)
Totem Of Death
Soul Gem
Divine Ruin

You should prioritize maxing your
Whirlpool first because it is your main way to clear minions and the cooldown gets significantly shorter, allowing you to trap enemies more often. Next, upgrade
Tidal Surge to increase your burst damage and safety, as it knocks enemies back while dealing a lot of damage. Always put a point into your ultimate,
Release The Kraken!, whenever the game lets you because the damage jump is massive for securing kills, and save
Trident for last since you only need one point early on to get the movement speed benefits.

Hi, my name is Ragna and I started playing Smite 1 on PC in 2021. I started playing in little community tournaments and after a lot of training and work I manage to play professional tournaments on Atlanta as the Smite Content Cup in 2024 and SCC on 2023 summer.
Now, in Smite 2 I have reached Deity every single split and I have competed in tournaments like Smite Vegas Qualifiers (ending in 5th position of EU) and right now Smite Prime, so Im always getting updated about the best metas on the game.
Apart from that I have a Twitch channel Ragna_smite where we play Smite 2 every single day and we do coaching for the subs to help them to improve on Smite 2, answering questions, talking about the game, etc.
Hope you find this guide as a good starting point for the midlane.

Passive -
As you hit enemies with Basic Attacks and Abilities, your "Tide" meter increases. Higher Tide grants you increased Movement Speed and increased Ability Damage. Think of this as your battery. You want to keep this meter full at all times. Always be auto-attacking minions or jungle camps while rotating. If your Tide is full, you are faster than almost anyone on the map and your abilities hit much harder. |
|
Ability 1 -
Summons a crashing wave that travels in a line, dealing Magical Damage and Knocking Back enemies. This is a great tool for self-defense. If an Assassin jumps on you, fire this instantly to push them away. It creates distance, allowing you to run away with your high movement speed. |
|
Ability 2 -
Buffs your Basic Attacks to fire two additional shots. These shots deal Magical Damage and refill your Tide meter on successful hits. This is your machine gun. Because it hits 3 times per click, it is the fastest way to quickly fill your Tide meter before a fight starts or apply on-hit effects from your items rapidly. Use this to shred towers or burn down objectives. |
|
Ability 3 -
Creates a whirlpool at a target location that deals tick damage and pulls enemies toward the center. Crucially, it applies a Cripple (prevents movement abilities). This is your most important ability. The "Cripple" prevents enemies from dashing or jumping away. If you catch an enemy in this, they are stuck walking slowly, making them an easy target for your Ultimate. |
|
Ultimate -
Summons a massive creature from the depths. It deals damage in a large radius, but deals massive damage and Knocks Up enemies in the center point. This ability turns fights around instantly. Always try to aim the center of the circle on your target for the Knock Up and maximum damage. It is easiest to land this immediately after placing your |
