Introduction

OH! LOOK AT THE LITTLE GIRLY MAN!

Hello!
My name is Greytower and this is my first guide ever. I've been playing Chaac for a while now, and lately I've started experimenting with a Jungle build for him. In this build, I'm going to present a couple of weird ideas that work really well for me, but, however, might not work well for you. So, I will do my best to answer any questions or comments, and help any confused readers, and I'd also love to receive advice and feedback in order to help me make this build better!

One last thing, I'm sorry, but I'm not going to go into all of the awesome mathematical info like what you'll find in other builds...I'm typing this on a laptop in the park and I'm too ******** lazy.

With that said, let's get down to business...

I wrote this whole guide listening to this ^_^

Overview

Chaac Jungle Build

Pros:
-Very High Burst
-Very High Sustain
-Good Amount of Health and Protection
-Very Good for Supporting Your Team
-All Abilities are AoE (Area of Effect)
-All Abilities very good for farming

Cons:
-May have trouble early game
-Lower initial speed, attack speed, and damage than other junglers
-Very vulnerable to CC (BEWARE ***BHA)
-May have trouble with Ra and Ao Kuang and similar mages

The Cons list may seem short, but these factors really have an effect on what Chaac can do.

Items

Ninja Tabi

I chose Ninja Tabi over Warrior Tabi because in my opinion, cooldown reduction is better for Chaac as his abilities are very important for this build, and he can't rely on his basic as much as other junglers.

Void Shield

Great ganking item because it will give your teammates the penetration they need against tanks like Ymir or any god that is building physical protection. It will also help you if you run into the enemy jungler, as most junglers besides a few are physical.

Rage

Essential for Chaac in order for him to be able to get on the same level as other junglers and enemy gods in terms of damage output. Chaac already has a deceptively fast attack speed, but it is masked by the fact of how little damage it does. Rage is really good for boosting his physical power and crits, which will aid him greatly in farming efficiency and building his passive, Overflow.

The Executioner

This item is great at tearing down enemy protections, and it is awesome to see this item's effect combined with rage.

What will happen is, as your Rage stacks increase, then enemies' physical protection will decrease due to [The Executioner]], so your crits will most likely be the attacks that finish your targets, and combined with Deathbringer, you're damage output is going to be

CHAACING.

Me:See what I did there?
You: Go kill yourself -_-
Me: Sorry, had to :p

Deathbringer

Once you pick up Deathbringer, your kill:death ratio is going to get sexy. Like I mentioned above, by the time

Rage

kicks in, the enemy's prot will be greatly reduced, and Deathbringer will just be the final nail in their coffin.

Honestly, there is nothing more satisfying than hitting someone with like 70 HP with 850 freaking damage.

For no ******** reason.

Because you are Chaac.

Titan's Bane
I grab this at the end game, because I'm going to ignore what I said earlier about me not doing math. I am, however, just going to quote someone who actually did the math.

The formula for Titan's Bane works as follows:
(enemyProtection / 3) / 100 = protectionIgnore

Piederman explains how Titan's Bane works quite well, so I'll let you read how he explained it.

Piederman wrote:

Item such as Titan's Bane on the other hand works in a different way, as it takes your enemies total protection value and lets you ignore a percentage out of it instead of just flat penetration. For example an enemy with 100 protection against Titan's Bane would let your attacks and abilities ignore 33 protection done to that target, while enemies with a lower amount, let's say 60, would only let you ignore 20 protection.

So what this means it that although Titan's Bane is great for reducing the physical protection of enemies who have alot of it, it's not great for people who have very little protection, such as other junglers like Loki, Thanatos, Bakasura.

This is also the reason why I grabbed The Executioner earlier than Titan's Bane, because The Executioner doesn't do flat out penetration, it works in a slightly more complicated way that I believe yields better results for the guy not having a rain god shove an giant axe up his ***.

So, I grab it last because by then the other team's tank or support will most likely have a lot of protection that I need to bypass in order to help my team.

Bloodforge
I grab Bloodforge at the end of the game as opposed to early because I find that I honestly don't need the combined sustain of Rain Dance and Bloodforge. This item synergies perfectly with Overflow and combined with Rain Dance in teamfights will greatly increase your sustain. Not much more to say about this besides IT'S ****ING GOOD.

Skills

Dem Skillz

Thunder Strike

Your main poking/damage ability.
I max it first most of the time, and this item is great for positioning not only where you want to fight the enemy, but also when, as you can choose when you want to teleport to it with Torrent

This ability is pretty great for the following:
Jungling
Running
Chasing
Sheer Damage

I'll discuss these in detail below

Jungling

If I'm in the jungle going for a camp, then I initiate with this, whack the creeps until Overflow is charged, and back up and use Torrent, which will charge me through the creeps, damaging them, and then I'll spin my axe around which will damage them further. Early, game, one more Thunder Strike should finish the camp, but I like to end with my basic so I can charge Overflow for the next camp or lane.

Running Away /Escaping

Now, when running away from a/many god(s), the best way to use this ability is to throw it out into the middle of a lane, then run into the jungle. Once the enemy has followed you in a bit, use Torrent and you'll jump right through them back into your lane and leave them in the dust. This ability is not good for just throwing in front of you and using your 2, because it takes a while to land if you throw it far, and by the time it lands you will most likely be right in front of it, and using Torrent would be a waste of mana and your life.

Chasing

When chasing a god, Thunder Strike is very good for a final poke, but trying to use Torrent to catch up with a god wont work usually, so sometimes I grab sprint of blink instead of beads. Rain Dance is also very good for slowing down enemies.

Damage

Not very complicated here. Fighting a god? Want to damage him? Chuck an axe right at his feet and BAM, a solid chunk of his health should be gone.

One last thing to keep in mind is something I've already mentioned, but I would like to emphasize:

When using Thunder Strike, be mindful of how long it takes to hit the ground and where your enemy will be when it does. A longer distance will mean more time before the axe hits, and more time for the enemy to dodge it, whereas throwing it at your feet is near instant, but only works against opponents within melee range. A successful poke is all about timing and placement of your axe.

Torrent

This move is pretty great for the following:
Team fights
Ganking
Poking/Finishing a running enemy.

I'll discuss these in detail below.

Team Fights

Basically, this attack has a large AoE, and does a decent amount of damage, but also gives you protections for every enemy you hit. At max level, it gives you +20 physical and magical protection for EACH MINION, OR CREEP OR GOD. During a team fight, if you can exploit a moment where the enemy team is grouped up, you can get up to 100 FREAKING PROTECTIONS for 4 FREAKING SECONDS. Or, you if you're in a lane, you can rake in 100 Prots from MINIONS ALONE and then dive a tower or take out an enemy god. THAT IS FREAKING AMAZING.

That's like, ridiculous if my all caps ranting didn't clue you in.
Basically, if you set this ability up right, you will negate a **** ton of damage, and for a moment, you can do simply suicidal things and get away with it.

Ganking

As a result of the explanation above, this move makes it easier to for Chaac to gank in a duo lane than other Junglers, because the more enemies he hits, the more prots he gets. Basically, what you can do it Thunder Strike the enemy creeps behind the gods you are about to gank, then Torrent, and rack up some serious prot, and then gank. If all goes well, you'll take greatly reduced damage. I'll further discuss my ganking combo later in Gameplay.

Poking

Not much to discuss. Basically, this move has a wide AoE, and you can move a bit while using it, so it's great for taking out that god who is just slightly out of reach of your basic and when Thunder Strike is on cooldown.

Rain Dance

Your sustain ability. Early game, Rain Dance helps your jungle sustain a bunch, and will give you a large advantage over the enemies in 3 ways:

Sustain

You heal, they dont. 'Nuff said.

Attack Speed Debuff

Enemy damage output is reduced, great against assassins and other melee basic attackers.

Movement Speed Debuff

Slows enemies; great for stopping an escape.

As I said earlier, you don't even really need lifesteal early game thanks to this ability.

Storm Call

This ult is great. It's really good. Awesome. Suge. Whatever.
Why is it great? Because it:

Does a ton of damage:

Everyone likes damage except for that guy you just killed.

Has a silence:

Not a bad initiator or closer, as it will stop skill based responses to your attacks. I usually rack up Overflow while they are silenced. This ability is also pretty good but not great for escapes, because of, again, the silence.

CC Immunity:

I love using this right when Thanatos strikes with his ult because it makes me laugh. #rekt

Potential Knock Up:

As in the description, using this ability while adjacent to your Axe from Thunder Strike gives it a knock up effect on enemies that it hits.

And now for the thing that everyone forgets-

50% Damage mitigation while in the air:

Ra ult? Nope.
Thanatos ult? Nope.
Poseidon ult? Nope.
(Insert god here) ult? Nope.

Basically, negate 50% of incoming damage.

Gameplay

For further reference on jungling, take a look at Subzero008's Jungler's Handbook.

I'm going to list a few scenarios and describe what I do in them to try to give you a sense of how this build is played.

Ganking

It's usually best to gank an enemy god in a lane by coming in behind him or leaping through a jungle camp. Chaac actually DOES have a leap ( Thunder Strike and then Torrent), although it's harder to use and easier to see coming/avoid. Most of the time I just prefer to run in behind the god I'm ganking.

I initiate with Thunder Strike and then from here I have 2 scenarios.

First Scenario: Basic Attacking Enemy

Ff the god I'm ganking is a high dps basic attacker like Bastet or Neith, I usually will go to Rain Dance in order to reduce incoming damage and keep up my sustain. Then I use Torrent within range of the enemy creeps to rack up some extra protections. By then Thunder Strike should be off cooldown and I can use it again and then, if the god is squishy and at low health, Storm Call is my usual finisher. Like I said earlier, this will shut down a retreating Sun Wukong in eagle form or a back flipping Neith thanks to the silence.

tl;dr version:
Thunder Strike-> Rain Dance-> Torrent-> Thunder Strike-> Storm Call

Second Scenario: Skill Based Enemy

There are a few gods that rely on their skills for damage output more than their basic attack. Such gods are Anubis, Ra, Aphrodite and Ares.

All of these gods except Ares are usually built to be glass cannons; in other words squishy but high damage output. But, if we think about WHERE their damage output comes from, it's their skills. So, logically, if we silence their skills, that's a short window of time in which we have to inflict massive amounts of damage to kill these gods.
So, what I do against Anubis, for example is the following:

Thunder Strike -> Storm Call-> **** load of basic attacks until silence ends
Once the silence ends:
Rain Dance -> Torrent and then one final Thunder Strike should finish him.

Rundown of that combo:

The early silence and knock back prevents Anubis from getting his usual initial wrap in. If he does manage to get his wrap off, your cc immunity from Storm Call should negate it. Then, while he is silenced, he's not going ****ing anywhere to smack that ****. Late game, and with no other enemies nearby, this is where the gank would end.

From there, if he's still alive, once the silence ends use Rain Dance to slow him so he can't get away as quickly and continue with the basic attacks. If he fights back use Torrent to gain at least some extra prots to reduce his damage. If he manages to stagger away, your Thunder Strike should be well off cooldown by then.

Third Scenario: Tank/Protection Heavy Enemy

Tanks can be a pain in the ***. Most tanks like Ymir and Athena will just cc you while their teammate(s) vaporize you. The best way to avoid having this happen to you is honestly get Purification Beads, but more often than not that's not enough. Other gods such as Osiris and Bastet are more suited to being able to peel a tank or support off of an enemy adc, but Chaac is not Osiris or Bastet.

The best way to deal with a dynamic duo like Neith and Ymir is to silence/interrupt/cc the tank and focus the adc. This sounds easy, but is rarely so because 1v2 in smite will rarely go in you favor, so try to make a habit of ganking the duo lane only when there is an ally there to help you.

The perfect combo for dealing with a duo like Neith and Ymir is the following:

Thunder Strike between them.

Storm Callfor massive damage, silence, cc immunity, damage mitigation, and knockup.

Torrent to gain some protections while you focus Neith, who is still a threat since her damage output is drawn from her basic attack and not her skills.

Rain Dance because Ymir should be un-silenced by now and you need to slow him down while you finish Neith. The healing will also help you contend with Ymir.

Purification Beads at the ready as Ymir almost always initiates combos with the freeze.

From there, you and your teammate(s) should be able to focus down Ymir.

That's all...for now

Well, that's I've got for you guys for now.
I'll be sure to check your comments and feedback and update this guide as Smite updates and whatnot.

UPDATE: TL;DR VERSION

-Main Damage Skills: Thunder Strike Torrent Storm Call

-Buff Skills: Rain Dance Torrent

-This build is a mix of a high dps and protections; you're not invincible but you're also not the hardest hitting. You're a good all rounder who should never be out of health or mana. By combining Overflow and Rain dance you can achieve infinite sustain. Discipline is key.

-Jungle camps are ****ing important for this build; get them. Speed is by far the best buff for this build.

-Always know where you have to be supporting your team.

Well, very good guide. It looks nice, is explained nice, but there is one problem.

The skill progression... please pick a favourite. Prioritize one, then another, then finally the other skill. In the case of chaac, it is usually 1>2>3 or 1>3>2.

Ah I see, good reasoning. Good luck with your guide bro!

haha thanks for the feedback guys!

I'll change the colors as soon as I have to time to do them all. I'm guessing you guys dont like the orange? I apologize for that, the sun was hitting my laptop pretty hard and I was able see the orange better at the time.

@Greenevers, I'm a little confused by what you mean.

If you mean that you would prefer to take Thunder Strike before Rain Dance, I understand where you coming from, but I find that for earlier jungling, Rain Dance is overall a better choice. Yes, the damage from Thunder Strike will help clear camps faster, but as I don't take Bumba's Mask, I see the need for sustain to be greater than clearing speed. Afterall, Rain Dance will not only heal you, but also debuff the creep's attack speed, so you'll take less damage.

I had overlooked this but, I don't like the skill ordering. I would prefer if you had completely focused on Thunder Strike after Storm Call and then Rain Dance and then Torrent.
