Introduction:

Hey guys, allow me to explain my thinking on this build.

The more I play Apollo, the more I see that he is NOT like all of the other Ranged Physical AD's. Although he is ranged, his skills require him to be fairly up close and personal. Because of that, I believe that this build will work well. Apollo does not seem like the kind of God to have Crit Chance built on him, and as such an alternative must be found!

LORE:

There are none without admiration for Apollo, God of Music. He is brash, cavalier, and dauntless, with the power to bring hope to the hopeless and change the course of battle with a single arrow. Voices of soldiers, mothers, kings and emperors, even Gods rise in glorious melody in honor of him; and he, basking in their adoration, shines victoriously.

Though Hera, Queen of Gods, challenged his very birth, sending the great serpent Pylos to slay Apollo, his twin sister Artemis, and their mother Leto, not even she could deny him victory. Merely four days old, Apollo, gifted with a legendary bow, slew the Gaia Serpent and defied Hera.

In his humble youth, Apollo was a cattle herder. The trickster God Hermes stole Apollo's charges and led them to a nearby cave. From the shell of a tortoise and the body of a cow, he crafted the first Lyre. Apollo finally caught up with Hermes, saw the instrument, and simply had to have it, trading the rest of his cattle to Hermes for it. Years later, Hermes would send his son, Pan, to challenge Apollo in a contest of musical prowess, but Apollo soundly defeated the satyr with dexterous mastery of the Lyre.

As Apollo grew into his rightful place among the Gods, his victories mounted, and the songs of the Faithful were sung more and more in his name. Now, they raise their voices for Apollo to take the field as Gods clash. Never one to deny his adoring public, Apollo prepares for one last show.

Pros/Cons

Pros:

  • So Beautiful makes an excellent farming tool
  • The Moves works as an initiator and as an escape
  • Great mesmerize with Serenade
  • High damage potential
  • Across The Sky is a great gank tool/iniator
  • Versatile; works well in 1v1 and team fights

Cons:
  • Squishy
  • Ult is useless in a 1v1 unless used as an initiator
  • Ult takes time to prep (can get you killed)
  • Ability damage is relatively low
  • Rather weak in early game

Items:

Devourer's Gloves: Physical Lifesteal is something that every AD, whether melee or ranged, should have. It can allow a complete regaining of someone's life bar. This should be built second because it allows for stacking up to 20% Physical Lifesteal and 50 Physical Power. With So Beautiful getting stacks on this will be simple.

Warrior Tabi: Unless you can build items around it, the speed from boots cannot be denied for any God. Since Apollo is generally up in people's faces yet still shooting, speed is necessary. Do not go without building these.

The Executioner: An amazing item for a Physical God. 30 Physical Power, 20% Attack Speed as well as the debuff work so well when fighting an enemy God. With Apollo, speed is important, and this will be one of your main sources of Attack Speed.

Qin's Blades: Used mostly for the attack speed and the passive which deals 2.5% of an enemy God's health in physical damage. The extra splash can add up to a surprising amount, so this item works well with Audacity.

Hydra's Lament: I usually build Deathbringer with AD's, but with Apollo I feel like this is not the best decision. Across The Sky has one of the longest Cooldowns, and for a good reason. That is why this item is the best choice for a damage item, because of the 15% Cooldown Reduction. Since you are up in people's faces, as I have mentioned a few times, adding 125% of your Physical Power to your next attack after using an ability is UNDENIABLY PERFECT, especially with skills like Serenade and The Moves. Damage, everywhere.

Witch Stone: Aside from the helpful Physical Protection, this item is mostly for the debuff. It will stack with the debuff on The Moves, which will give Apollo a HUGE oppurtunity to get in extra damage. Get in their faces and cause some damage.

ABILITIES:

Meditation: In any situation, mana is essential. In early game, it's not always easy to keep mana up high, so getting this item at the start of a game is key. This will allow for more sustain in lane, potentially saving your tower or allow you to destroy an enemy's.

Aegis Amulet : I like to get this if I know I am against an enemy like Ares who has a pull, or maybe even Arachne. Prevents all damage and removes all Crowd Control.

Purification Beads: Swap it out for Aegis if you want Crowd Control removed but still want to be able to escape. Useful for Hades' Ultimate, or even Cupid's. You still take damage, though.

Skills:

Passive: Audacity
After 10 successful basic attacks, Apollo gains Audacity, attacking with both hands and increasing his attack speed by 100% for the next 5 attacks (hit or miss) he makes.

]This is fairly simple, allowing you to burst your basic attacks with 100% more attack speed. Useful when taking down towers, but in a fight with an enemy God that extra potential damage can save your life and get you a kill. Be careful in the consumption of uses, though. Once you get it, don't shoot wildly hoping to hit something. Know where your target is and strike.

Skill 1: So Beautiful
Apollo strums a single chord on his Lyre. It's so beautiful it hurts, and all enemies in a long range line take 80/135/190/245/300 (+80% of your physical power) physical damage.

Cost: 60/65/70/75/80 mana.

Cooldown: 15/14/13/12/11 seconds.

Focus on using So Beautiful for farming. It can clear waves with excellent proficiency, and get the very needed stacks on Devourer's Gloves. Start with it first, and finish it first.

Skill 2: Serenade
Apollo uses his amazing voice to mesmerize all nearby enemies for .7/1.1/1.5/1.9/2.3s. Any damage done breaks the effect.

Cost: 75 mana.

Cooldown: 17/16/15/14/13 seconds.

Serenade is nice for the protections, but is best for the Mesmerize. With Hydra's Lament, it pretty much gives you clearance for a HUGE smack to the face. Finish it third.

Skill 3: The Moves
Apollo runs forward and slides on his knees, dealing 50/85/120/155/190 (+50% of your physical power) physical damage, knocking aside all enemies and adding a stack of Audacity for each enemy hit. At the end of the slide, the movement speed is decreased for enemies and increased for himself and allies by 5/10/15/20/15% for 2s.

Cost: 70 mana.

Cooldown: 15 seconds.

The Moves should be your second priority, since it works as a great initiator and the debuff can allow you to sneak some damage in.

Skill 4: Across The Sky
Apollo rides his chariot across the sky, choosing when to land, dealing 60/75/90/105/120 (+30% of your physical power) physical damage every .2s for .8s and knocking back enemies when he lands.

Cost: 10 mana + 50 mana per second.

Cooldown: 110/105/100/95/90 seconds.

Across The Sky is an Ultimate that certainly takes some getting used to. It can be difficult to control, but one thing must be made clear: When using it as an escape, DO NOT USE IT WHEN ENEMIES ARE NEAR YOU! It has a charge period, and that can get you killed. Find a good spot BEFORE using it to escape. Other than that, CHARGE AWAY. The D.O.T. works well, and it can be both an initiator and a finisher.

What to do:

Begin the game with level 1 Devourer's Gloves, two health potions and Meditation, or mana-central. Proceed to whatever lane you're in, making sure to get a buff with an ally or two for an early game advantage on exp and possibly a buff.

Farm for your early levels, getting enough gold to finish Devourer's Gloves. Once you have that, begin working on stacks and Warrior Tabi so that you have the movement speed necessary to, well, not die in a fight.

Since Devourer's Gloves is finished, work on those stacks. Obviously, you do this by farming, but since you have So Beautiful, it shouldn't be that difficult. By the time all of your stacks are done, you'll have 20% Physical Lifesteal and a hell of a lot of AD. Continue with the build, and you'll see that you can do a lot of damage without the need for Critical Strike Chance.

If you are in mid lane or if a lane really needs help, remember that you have an Ultimate that can traverse THE ENTIRE MAP. Ganking is very simple with Apollo, so help your friends out whenever you can.

Conclusion:

I need opinions on this. Tell me what you think, try the build out.

Thank you for reading. Hope it helps!

Sweet Jesus you can still see this? I archived this because it was atrocious. This is why I wish we had a delete guide option...

I might reboot this guide later, but as a complete, separate guide. I don't play Apollo much at all, so we shall see.

I'm interested in learning more about Apollo but this guide seems a bit out of date for now. Have you given up on this guide or will we see a update on it anytime soon? :p

Indeed. The reason I don't have it that early in mid lane is because it's not always necessary. In duo lane it's much more important since duo lane is not as much centered around farming as it is farming AND trying to get kills. Mid-lane, for me at least, usually involves farming and then poking at the enemy when I get the chance.

In the duo lane build, I added Warrior Tabi first. It seems like that's the best option.

I knew what you said :P Google Translate works wonders. So much for 8th grade Mandarin class...

I was asking the reason for Tabi being bought as a third item. It kind of feels weird to buy Tabi about halfway through. Like I said before, the build's pretty good.

The build is a work in progress. I'm still seeing what works and it seems that Transcendence first in duo lane doesn't give me the stats I need.

If you saw what I originally said, sorry. I'm in a no-joke mood.

我觉得挺好的。可是、你为什么不把Tabi当第二个item?

It has been done, my friend. Tellith me of thine opinions, mainly on the build.

Oh really now?

There will be. I intend on working on it more after testing the build and playing Apollo more.
