Personally, even though to burst someone down quick it would make sense to knock them up followed by ult, against gods with leaps, I would wait until they use the leap, then ult, that way you get rid of their escape. Especially considering her burst outside of ult seems weak.

To answer Sub's answer

Facepalm. So on one hand, we got Joan of Arc in plate armor, and aside from looking prettier than expected, has absolutely zero sexualization.

On the other hand, we got Athena in a metal bikini, wearing a dress with a gigantic cut reaching up to her waist, who is wearing less armor than Thor, a squishy assassin.

Seriously, what the actual ****? How can anyone even compare the two? A tank is wearing less armor than an assassin! In bikini form! WTF? What if Thor wore nothing but a bronze codpiece and wore metal spikes over his nipples, because then he'd actually be wearing less armor than a ****ing tank!

a bit nsfw lol

Ok?

Just a comment on the whole clothing argument...

Really? You're playing a virtual game where nonexistent gods that come from entirely different pantheons kill each other, even though they're not supposed to actually die, and then magically come back to life... And you're worried about realism?

Isn't it better to use her ultimate as early in a combo as possible? Since it grants you such a massive attack speed and physical power boost?

Well no, since the damage on her ult depends on your enemy being knocked up. Her kit has a nice flow to it actually. Use your 2 to go behind, 3 to knockup since you can only knockup from behind, and ult to bring back/deal damage.

the game isn't ultra realistic, we know that, if you thought that would come as a big suprise i am here to burst that bubble.

no it may not be ultra realistic but here are a few things that should be cleared up.

ultra realistic=/= no creative freedom
there are multiple levels or realsisme, not just 2 with a hard line inbetween them.
ultra unrealistic=/= go stupidly nuts and be illogical.

basicly this means the more realistic you get the more of our worlds general rules, laws, standerds and knowledge you have to follow. the less realistic you get the more you have to follow your own general rules, laws, standerds and knowledge you build your world around.

take electronic super joy, it falls under ultra unrealistic but still follows their own rules that that universe set up.

smite is some where between those lines but because it uses a lot of elements from the real world it falls under a more realistic setting rather then a more unrealistic setting.

this means they are stuck with our functions and logic.

because they use gods that represent the things that brought early civilisations the base of human logic in the first place so they are more stuck to it then another game that falls under the same level of realistic.

this means that when things they do spesificly that are illogical to us and by extend to the original gods it comes of as bad design.

its illogical for a god using the phallax strategy to where high heels and a metal bikini.

its illogical for a god wearing no armor to protect her heart and other organs that are needed to live but puts priority on her nippels.

also keep in mind that while these gods are so called "immortals" that doesn't mean they are actually "immortal" in multiple myths those immortals have been killed and didn't come back, heck its how the norse mythos ends.

they aren't omnipotent, omniciant or omnipresent like monetheïstic gods and they can actually die, the name "immortals" hasn't stopped myths before.

in short, while this game is not hyper realistic it still falls more under realistic then unrealistic and is stuck with our logic, they use gods that often are the sources of knowledge and early civilasation logic.

they are the ones said to have developed early human combat, thus are stuck with that logic and early human combat did NOT involve metal bikini's.

they are not actually immortal so if they were to go to war they would be dressed apropriatly no mather how likely their chance's were as dieïng as an "immortal" takes power away from them.

yeah the excuse "they dont have to follow logic cuz it's unrealistic" is a bad excuse becaus realisme and unrealisme don't work that way and because there are many different levels of "real".

All4 pretty much nailed it on the head. The biggest thing that people irritate me with in regards to fiction is they latch on to the fact that things are different between that world and our world, and reason that thus everything can be different and that they have license to go off the wall with it. Even things as ridiculous as Dragon Ball or the Marvel Universe have rules that they have to follow (although Marvel and DC are clever enough to create multiple universes to explain fundamental changes).
Chaac and Ah baby! Chaac and Ah...

I don't actually see Smite as a realistic kind of game.

Yes, Gods are 'realistic' in a sense that they conform to human culture, but this is where the problem lies.

Legends are also a part of human culture. Mythology, religion is also part of human culture. And the deeds they perform, mind you, can hardly be called realistic. Really, is killing a lion with a really tough skin 'realistic'? Or is running around the world faster than the speed of light 'realistic'?

That is why in today's standard bolstered by knowledge and rationality, mythic deeds and legends have become something that is considered unrealistic.

Smite is riding on this premise. Immortals and deities, who preside over man and has done deeds and feats impossible to man, duke it out in an all out ear.

If herc can kill the nemean lion with his bare hands, or chaac can tear the sky and make rain fall, then Athena can sure as hell kick *** with that kind of armor.

On Athena's armor, real hoplites who make up phalanxes wear little to no armor since their hoplon shields are ridiculously cumbersome. If they got armor, the most the got are cuirasses. Look up images of phalanxes in Rome total war. If Athena's armor would conform to realism, then why bother adding a dress to a then?

Back again tho. Why are you guys making this such a big deal? Video games have, and always have been, a facet of creativity. And you can't debate creativity.

Regarding your last statement...

I feel like sometimes people are always looking to criticize Smite, and because this time, the kit was fine, they turned to any other issue that they could possibly criticize, and that would be sexualizing her.

Also, sometimes people feel like it is oppressing women and shining them in a bad light.

Don't ask me though, I don't see it as an issue.

facepalm*

i litterly just explained why smite is not completely realistic but still realistic enough that it should keep to our logic. those mythos follow human logic. a guy killing a lion is an impressive feet that is hard to achieve but realistic, a guy proclaiming he makes it rain... well humanity is gullible to all hell so i dont see why that wasn't believable back then.

Athena did not where this armor in the myth's so you pretty much ruined your argument... you use the things that the myths told and then immidiatly went to "then a person with out any protection to her vital organs can win fights"... smite's clothes do NOT give an accurate representation of what they actually wore.

i am perfectly aware of what kind of armor was worn by the soldiers in the phalanx, anthena is STILL very far from wearing efficient armor, the hoplites were lighly armored but the armor they did wear was protecting their vital organs... not their legs or hips or... boobs.

if you dont think you can argue with creativity then you are horribly WRONG. so wrong that i would play a meme her if i wasn't lazy... ah to hell with it, i'll put in effort

not actually the "WRONG" meme was looking for but i found it twice as funny.

if you can't argue creativity then that would mean litterly all critisisms would be come invalid, and im not talking to just critisisms to art, books or other media. no i mean all critisisms in existence. you would be incapable of argueing against religion, government ideas and effectivly all parts of human nature including the bad parts.

you would litterly be incapable of making the argument that hitler's idea's of the perfect world was wrong because it was his "creative mind" that came up with it.

there are 2 youtube channels you should watch... well technacly more but these are 2 simpel ones.
smitefire ****ed up and i had to put this into spoiler to fix it

When was the last time someone talked about the champion kit instead of the sexualization of gods in this thread? If someone comes here to learn about what people think of the god and how good she'll be, they'll be sorely disappointed. I think we've talked quite a bit about the aesthetic design issue and everyone's explicitly explained their standpoint, should we shift to her kit now? A few have tossed in their idea but I'm really curious to see what others who haven't said anything on the topic think.

I think a lot of non-members (aka viewers) of the site would be curious too, since most people who visit god guide websites aren't mastered at the game or a specific facet of it, so they'd be curious to see what more experienced players would think of the new god.
