Zeus throws his shield forward dealing damage to nearby enemies and apply a charge. The shield remains for 5s, and Zeus may target it with Basic Attacks or Chain Lightning. Each Basic Attack or first Chain Lightning arc that hits the shield will deal additional static damage and apply a charge in the area. While Zeus' shield is deployed, he gains Attack and Movement Speed. Zeus may refire the ability to recall the shield early.

Introduction

My name is Ntak123 and I'm a casual smite player who's mastery 10 with zeus, as he's my main god. I usually play Joust and Clash, so this build is created from my experience from those two game modes. This is my first smite guide so if you guys have any suggestions or comments feel free to go ahead and ask.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

- Amazing Damage (can kill entire teams late game)
- Ultimate is easy to pair with a teammate (Hades, Poseidon, Odin, Freya)
- Great AoE abilities and damage ( Aegis Assault is a great minion clear)
- Awesome poke (can do massive damage and can reach enemies behind towers)
- Looks Awesome (I wish i had that hair)


Cons:

- Squishy (this build builds almost no defense)
- Mana Hungry in the early game ( Get mana camp from the start of the game)
- no Escape (this will be the cause of most deaths)

Skills and Strategies

Before I go into the the abilities to explain charges as they are an essential weapon in Zeus' arsenal. A hit from any of your abilities and your basic attack will apply a charge to an enemy with a max of 3 charges per person. These charges are very beneficial as basic attacks to an enemy with charges deals increased damage, and Zeus' ability Detonate is dependent entirely on charges to work. Now, onto Zeus' skills...

Skills



Chain Lightning:

Chain lightning is a very good ability that bounces from enemy to enemy and leaves a charge for every hit it connects. This ability will be the second part of your poke and is able to reach enemies from far away, as it can connect easily to enemies, and is a lot of fun to use as an annoyance against enemies.

Aegis Assault:

This is your main minion clear ability besides your basic attack, and is the first part of your poke. It is a stationary ability and can constantly hit by your basic attack to provide more AoE damage, or be used to bounce chain lightning off of

Detonate:

This is Zeus' most dangerous and damage dealing ability. Discharge is used when an enemy has obtained charges and is a range-less ability. at any time if the enemy has a charge on them, this charge will be detonated (hence the name) and will deal up to 3 times it's base damage, based off of how many charges the enemy has collected.

Lightning Storm:

Zeus' ultimate can be easily paired with a teammates and hits periodically. it applies charges with every hit, and covers a large circular area. it can be used to ambush enemies if you jungle as they will usually try to run through it to escape it.

Strategies


Poke:

zeus has a poke that deals crazy damage and make enemies keep their distance. The poke is throwing out aegis assault immediately followed by chain lightning. this is a great kill chaser as well, and when paired with detonate as well, can result in a quick death for an unlucky foe.

Camps:

always get the mana camp at the start of the game, and once your first two items have been fully upgraded, you can focus on getting the damage camp.

Lane play:

Zeus cannot hold down the lane early game, and will need to be very careful as he wont have a lot of health to work with. mid to late game he is able to own the lane and can dominate enemies who come into his tower.

Early Game

Farm minions as you can level up very quickly in the early stages and jump out to an early level lead and bully the enemy team. Don't get greedy since assassins are too powerful early on for a 1v1 fight . Mana boost will be a necessity if you want to remain efficient and avoid frequent recalls. You should stick behind teammates and be vary weary of your health, as you might get targeted early on.

Mid-Game

Mid game zeus is already a huge threat. This is the time where you will be building damage based items, and you are going to be the main damage dealer for your team. you have decent health by now, but as the saying goes, a good offense is a good defense, and you will be the prime example of that. you can hold down the lane single handedly at this point, but don't just rush head on into the teeth of the enemy, you're not invincible just yet.

Late Game

You are now not just the god of olympus, but also the god of damage. At this point you can rack up kills easily, as your poke alone can completely melt an enemy. your best bet will be to coordinate your ultimate with a teammate, clear out the enemy team, and push the opposing structures quickly.

No, sunny, no...not this time. Not going to let you get away with your comment this time.

Although this isn't a horrible build, this is also not a great one. There are 4 very specific reasons that immediately come to mind.
  1. Double lifesteal: there are 2 lifesteal items in this build ( Book of the Dead and Bancroft's Talon). Sure, lifesteal is great. Doesn't mean that more = better, especially when 1 of the lifesteal items is taking the spot of a missing type of item, which is...

  2. Penetration: where is the pen? And no, Shoes of the Magi and Spear of Desolation aren't quite enough. Yes, depending on the comp and enemy builds, 30 flat pen might put a large dent into their natural magical protection, but really, Obsidian Shard is just going to help damage in the end.

  3. Early Rod of Tahuti: if you're steamrolling the enemy team and find yourself with 3,300+ gold, sure, why the heck not, Tahuti it is. But otherwise, it'll be better built 5th or 6th.

  4. Alternative items...are completely absent. Build this way each and every time? Even if you're facing 3 physical gods or 3 magical gods? What if they're all building tanky? Almost any god can consider some alternative items, and even if you don't talk about your item choices, at least listing some possibilities at the top would be nice. Maybe a CDR option? (sorry, 10% isn't quite enough for my tastes, but maybe that's just my preference) Maybe a specific protection item vs each damage type?
So no, sunny...I'm calling you out.

And as for the guide creator...ntak (if you ever check back), this isn't a bad first effort, but hope you got something out of my comments. Also might consider that depending on your own comp, if your team needs better clear, you might start by putting a point into all 3 of your skills... Aegis Assault, as you mention, is your main wave clear, and if your teammates can't support that very well, this might be important to have at the start.

Love this build. I have one question, if I need build some sort of defense what would you recommend? And what relics? I also play clash mainly

In my experience, I've mostly died to either hunters or assassins, so I would build physical protection with either the celestial legion helm, or the dynasty plate helm. Both offer a solid amount of protection in an otherwise damage dominated build, and also add to your magical damage. One relic I always use is sanctuary which is basically your early game get out of jail free card. And then after that, either purification if you're playing a team who has a lot of stuns, or meditation to help your team or yourself when you're in a bind. I hope this helps!
