This is my first guide. Today we're showing a pretty effective (In my experience) tank build for Ymir. Ymir is a great tank with nice abilities. This is a duo-lane focused guide.
There isn't much to say about Ymir's skills. They are fairly easy to understand. The only way to be bad with his skills is missing. Your two and three are your best abilities. I recommend doing your stun and then using your two to soften enemies. Then If you can, get real close, stun and ult them. Make sure they are a fair distant inside your ult when you have them stunned. And don't try with jump characters unless you just saw them use their jump. Never use ult on anyone on the edge of it. In the beginning when you just have your frost breath, use it to poke the enemy (both if you see the opportunity) with it but don't spam frost breath. You need to conserve mana semi-decently till you go back for the last bit of the Stone of Gaia and Meditation.
Stone of Gaia.
This is your savior. Its super cheap, good lane sustain, extra mp5 for ymir. Buy this 2/3 first, only 770 to finish. I usually wait till I have the 770 and enough for the base Meditation. Then I finish it. With its protections it makes abilities from mages much weaker, for example from about levels 5-10 (Credit this knowledge to Amgwtfover9000
) He-bo's water spout, Agni's flame wave, Anubis' Grasping Dead, will hit you for only 40-70. You regen that back in about 5 seconds with the same item.
Now we need that physical protection. I get the hide of the nemean lion to just shut down any physical in my lane for damage. With the 80 physical early-game, they'll practically be doing nothing. :D. This is also a partially situational item. If you are in a lane with two magical then you build heavy magical early-game so swap it with a decent magic protection item, I'd recommend Bulwark of Hope.
This is my typically preferred second magical protection item. The passive can save you when you are trying to escape. It gives sixty protection. And a good extra chunk of health.
Void Stone
This is my second preferral, I only get this at this state of game, If my lane partner is a mage and someone is building magic protection. You buy the void stone more to help your mage then for yourself.
Now my next move is either A) Go back to physical to balance it out, with the breastplate of valor. I choose this to for the extra mana, high protection, and the sweet cooldown. (More 2 and 3 Ymir decimation. heheh) or B) I'll go with something like the Hide of Leviathan because the other team is four magic, one physical to make sure I'm covered physically and be more annoying to the magical enemies.
Now I've got two spots for any kind of need. Fill these as you please.
I go typically with the shoes of the magi for movement speed and some decent magic power then I get the rod.
If I do pick up a second ability, which is unless its really needed, I typically get girlde of might as it can be pretty useful, especially to turn a teamfight you think you are gonna lose.
Thank you for reading. Ymir is my favorite god and with this build of my own, I usually average a 80% win streak. Ymir is great fun and there's nothing more satisfying then being a super tank. I hope this helps. :D. Comment if there is information you'd like added or something that should be updated/changed. I will do my best to get back to it.
