Introduction & Item Overview

I won't go over the ins and outs of how to play Xbalanque. This is a pretty straightforward guide meant specifically for Domination. What I will do is give a quick tip on the start of Domination games generally and as it relates to Xbalanque, plus a few pro-tips on Xbalanque.

Xbalanque is unique among the Physical Ranged Carries in so much as his passive gives him a huge boost to base damage + his Bolas (1) ability gives a huge boost to base damage as well. So as long as you pick up a few kills and have mana you really don't need to build damage items on him.

Warrior Tabi
This is my first item always, I do this because you obviously don't start the game with kills and need the damage boost to get started.

Fatalis
Next I grab Fatalis because of its incredible attack speed bonus and movement bonus, and usually by the time it's done you'll have a couple kills which means you're +10 or +20 damage anyway.

Witch Stone
The next item I grab is usually Witch Stone, one of the most powerful items in the game, it's like a 40% reduction in damage from enemy physical gods that are attack based and a 80% damage reduction from minions so you can better dive minions and towers. Plus it increases your attack speed and movement. So now you're cruising around and you've got your 6 kills, so +30 base damage, and you've leveled your Bolas, so you're hitting for about 160 a pop and attacking very very quickly.

Rage
This is the point where the build starts to get silly and over-powered: Rage. Attack even faster; and you start critical-hitting for about 300 on a pretty regular basis.

Bloodforge
Next I do Bloodforge. If I get to this point in the game, I do not lose, ever. You can take a tower or god out in about 2-6 seconds and stay at full health. The reason for Bloodforge and not some other lifesteal item is that it increases in power based on you attacking, and you attack so quickly you can basically count it as full stats which is 60 power and 30% lifesteal, making it by far the best physical lifesteal item for this build.

Asi
I switched to Asi from Qin's Blade as of the last patch. You have little time/money left to play with at this point and this adds 30% attack speed and a huge amount of lifesteal plus some penetration. By the time you're ready to buy this there's very little chance you'd be able to grab a Deathbringer since it costs so much and is pretty much the worst unbuilt item in the game for cost to damage ratio.

Xbalanque Domination Tips

I lost a couple early on, but have won most of the games subsequent to learning how to play Xbalanque well. These are all solo queue.Someone stole my two pentakills... hence the 2 assists.

Domination Map

First Tip: Starting Lane Positions

There are three lanes, the goal is to hold at least two of the lanes in your team's control. Most people start with a combination of 2-3-0. This means 2 in left lane, 3 in middle lane, no one goes right. This is the best start because you can cap the left lane quickly by focusing the tower, then close in on the middle from behind while you contest middle with 3v3.

Second Tip: Focus the Minions

When you're fighting at a neutral tower middle (where you should be with Xbalanque to start), always focus the enemy minions first. If any enemy god uses an AOE ability or is auto-attacking from range, try to take a small amount of damage from that enemy god. This will cause the neutral tower to target the enemy god. If they get low, that's your chance to get your early kills with Xbalanque, turn on your Bola and jump in there to finish them off. If you've successfully finished off their minions and weren't able to take damage to manipulate the tower by the time it dies, hopefully you'll have a middle full of friendly minions all targeting the enemy gods along with you, which is crucial at level 3/4.

Third and Final Tip: Take Nodes

By the time you've finished your Bloodforge you will be able to solo and tank towers from full to dead without taking any damage, even without any minions around you. You can do this usually even with an enemy god attacking you since you heal so much. You will be moving so much faster than anyone on your or their team on account of your Ultimate, all the speed items, and your jump ability. You can take right lane and get to left lane and take that too before they can even get to right lane.

General Xbalanque Tips

These are a few tips about fancy little things I do to maximize Xbalanque's abilities in no particular order:

When leaving the base use your jump ability to move forward quickly. It takes the mana immediately upon use, which means that you'll get the mana back when leaving the base on the final tic, plus you'll be 40 feet ahead.

Always rank the poison darts last, they do the least damage of any ability, but what they do accomplish is maximizing your jump's damage. So lay down poison first, then jump in to them and try to land so there are no minions between you and them and just start going to town with your Bolas.

If you're having trouble hitting enemy gods with Auto-Attacks heal up on minions, you heal crazy fast once you've finished Bloodforge.

Whenever you see a team fight or a fight that looks like it's going to result in a dead player on either team, spam your ultimate even if you're not close. You'll get an assist which will give you gold and experience.

This was amazing. Granted I went 9/8 which wasn't too optimal, I did 39k structure damage without breaking a sweat. Those bolas straight wrecked anyone I fought 1v1 and once I won a 2v1. I don't have a lot of experience with Xbal and this really did help me out so thanks :) P.S. That bugger drains some mana with the bolas doesn't he? :P
