Bluestone Pendant is Skadi's best starter item, it gives 3/4 of her abilities some extra damage which in mid is usually enough to kill the enemy mid lanner, this start also has deccent sustain from bluestone to allow you to stay out longer and allowing you to ignore any poke from a mage.
This is what you should normally go for skadi mid, it gives you enough flat pen to deal with squishies through Jotunn's Wrath and The Crusher and a lot of percent pen to deal with tanks through Heartseaker and Titan's Bane.
Bluestone Pendant can be sold at full build instead of Bluestone Brooch but both options are fine
Sell The Crusher late for an alternative item]]
Skadi's ult is mainly used for the utility it provides though the root and full restoration of kaldr, putting points into this increases the damage by 40 and the root duration by 1 second which isn't too significant, especially compared to Permafrost which increases the initial damage by 120, the radius of the ability and the movement speed you gain from standing on the ice. this is the same for every role.
Mantle of Discord and Magi's Cloak are both helpful for stoping you from being blown up instantly by either hard cc or just general high damage abilities due to their passives and defencive stats.
Titan's Bane and The Executioner are both helpful at dealing with tanks.
Odysseus' Bow is helpful if you need a god with high attack speed on your team
Bloodforge is good if you are consistantly getting kills in team fights as the passive will allow you to just steam role the enemy team if you get a kill.
Spectral Armor is only helpful if they have two players going crit on the enemy team, the mana on the item also gives you power when you use it with the item transendence
I firmly believe skadi's potential in carry is so poor compared to her potential in mid/jungle that there is no point in plaing her there, this is becuase of multiple reasons:
Skadi's main strength is in a 1v1 scenario where she is face to face against a squishy, in mid she instantly starts off in a 1v1 against a mage (who will most likely have lower base health, protections and auto attack damage than you) allowing you to have instant pressure on that mage, in adc however, you will start off in a 2v2, against a god who has higher base health and protections than you, who will also be with a god who has auto attack damage that is even to yours, this will make it harder for you to gain pressure on the enemy adc, and you will most likely struggle till you both supports rotate.
Skadi has more access to farm and easier rotations from mid and jungle, this helps skadi as she requires a lead to have a prescence in the late game, in mid she can easily invade farm from the enemy mid lanner and will have the ability to rotate on duo lane or solo in order to push that lead in further, skadi adc is simply unable to gank due to the placement of the lane.
Skadi doesn't use crit as effectively as most hunters, skadi is incredibally ability based and as of such crit is innefective on her, she also has no attack speed stim or auto attack amplifier to help further aid her crit damage, skadi also does poorly into hunters who buy devourers gauntlet as she won't be able to burst them down due to their sustain.
Your second ability Rune Of The Hunt can body block any ability that won't pass through minions like Scylla sic'cem or Sobek pluck, it also blocks auto attacks
Skadi's first ability only boosts kaldr's normal attacks, it doesn't boost his dash damage, however it also sets him up for multiple bassic attacks on any enemies who you hit with Piercing Cold
Kaldr does not allow the enemy to lifesteal off of him as he has no health value
Abilities that do their damage over time like Anubis Plague of Locusts will only damage kaldr once for the initial hit, however this is not true for jormungundr and Izanami basic attacks which will damage kaldr for every instance of damage that they deal.
