Overall

Here's the written part:
Items that you will need (with the reason why they are choosen.):

    1- Masamune - Physical Power
2- Warrior Tabi - Movement Speed and Physical Power
3- Jotuun's Wrath - Physical penetration, Physical power and Cooldown reduction.
4- Wind Demon - Physical Power and Critical hit chance
5- Death Bringer - Physical power and Critical hit chance
6- Stone Cutting Sword - Physical power and Movement speed

Consumables:
1- Potion of Physical Might - Boosts your damages.
2- Elixir of Power - Boosts your damages.
3- Ward - Just so you can see if someones go to the Fire Giant or takes the Damage Buff. (In joust mostly)

This build is mostly made to give as much Physical Power, Critical hits and hit fast.
You might have seen a lot of builds with more Physical Power but the difference is that here we got more CDR (Cooldown Reduction) More speed and better damages overall because of the critical hit chance and movement speed (great to take down those fleeing enemies.)

This build works on ALL the ASSASSIN gods. (Tested and worked greatly on my side.)
I'm still using this build, but I decided that I'd provide it here for those who still don't feel confident enough when choosing items.
Little trick for them: Just check what is the primary stat on your God and build up accordingly.

Abilities you choose (bought ones):
1- Frenzy - Boosts your damage when you rush an enemy and sometimes helps to get kills fast.
2- Curse - Slow down enemies to get them easily.

Before we get into the skills, here a little tip on how to use the skills.
When you're about to go in:
If you play with friends:
Try to set an ambush. Use your (4) to enter the fight fast.
Now that you're in it, use your (1) on your target.
Now that your target lost 1/3 of its health (if not more.) hit with your Basic attack.
Once you have your (1) ready, you can then take down the enemy if not already done.
You can always take those running enemies with your (3).
The (2) is kinda useless. So yea... do whatever you want with it ;)

Here's a little recap for those who didn't really understand that:
You enter the fight with your Hovering Death, You use Death Scythe as soon as you can and as often you can, You can also use Soul Reap as much as you can, do whatever you want with Scent of Death because it's kinda useless.

Also, your Death Scythe Heals you when it touches the target. (If you didn't see it yet, well here you go ;) )
Make use of that. If your about to get in the low-health zone, use it. Thanatos don't have much life. That's why we build it Damage only. Because it's his only defence.

Now... For the skills order:
(1)Death Scythe - (2) Scent of Death - (3) Soul Reap - (4) Hovering Death
    1- 1
    2- 3
    3- 1
    4- 3
    5- 4
    6- 1
    7- 1
    8- 3
    9- 4
    10- 1
    11- 3
    12- 3
    13- 4
    14- 2
    15- 2
    16- 2
    17- 4
    18- 2
    19- 2
    20- 4

Ending Note:
With this build I've hardly lost a game.
It works great for me. Little tip tho, when you're about to rush, you can use your Hovering Death. Even if it one-shot the enemies when they're low health, it might be more useful to rush with that skill. I see a lot of players that wait for their enemies to be at low health. The problem is that it dosn't happen that much and when it happens, well... they call KillSteal because he only used is ultimate as a way to "one-shot" the enemy.
With my build, I usually rush in WITH my ultimate. A lot of enemies then don't really know how to react and just get killed because my Death Scythe hits like a truck (or two ;) )

Anyway, here it is. My build for Thanatos. Have fun with it and don't forget to leave a feedback :) It's always appreciated. (Try to leave CONSTRUCTIVE comments and don't come up with "this build is ****!" without trying it out. If you try it, you'll see it works pretty well. If it dosn't for you, well it means you did a mistake in the way you played with it ;) )

Have a nice day and have fun killing your enemies!

I made a smite fire account just to give rep for this comment. It's rare you see a person give such a clear critism on the Internet with well thought out and explain reasoning.

On a side note I agree with everything he said, your build doesn't synergise well and your skill build? You are telling people to play with 3 skills... for most of the game vs players with 4... without further explanation as to why I disagree with your choice other than to say that playing with 3 skills sets you behind everyone else from the start. Why handicap yourself?

So I'm gonna say this build is bad. ofc I will explain why I find it bad (it's an opinion) however first some general things I noticed and good stuff.

it lacks simple bbcoding which makes it a bit annoying to read. things like double brackets (these thing in the right way used are brackets: ][ ). like Thanatos

Your combo is good and I agree that his ult isn't only for the execute as you can also use the stun to gank people (and with his early damage it's enough to finish people off). Also if people call KS they have no Clue how a MOBA works.

your skill order isn't how I would do it as I do value the early point in the "useless" 2 (after that the order is pretty much the same). The reason for that is that the small bit of pen is great early on to boost your damage. Or for the bit of movement speed to get around the jungle or chase a target.

The bought abilities are called relics. I would consider adding some more options as sometimes you can better take purification. purification is really great if you end up getting CC'ed and dying every time cause of it.

I love it that the consumables have Wards listed. loads of people don't mention them at all (or use them at all).

So before going into your build itself. You say that most assassins go damage and your build is different because of CDR. However I see loads of assassin builds have CDR. Especially if the god is ability power focussed. That brings me into the point of this build can work on every assassin however it wouldn't be as effective on every as several assassins are better focussing on ability power ( Thor Loki) and others on basic attacks ( Kali Bakasura).
Also another difference I see myself is that most people build a protection item (I don't count Stone Cutting Sword as one). Sometimes only 1, sometimes 2. This is because they need to get close to their target.

So now why I really find your build bad (remember this is my opinion). It's a bit harder for me to see your specific reasons other then the stats items give for why you have chosen certain items.
First I'm going to say I consider Thanatos an ability based god (with the potential to go hybrid cause otherwise he falls of late game).

So now I will start with your first item which is the biggest reason your build is bad. you get it for the stats. They aren't really bad stats however the passive is useless overall. You even take it early game when the HP difference aren't even enough to get an extra 5 damage. In theory it should be good against a tanky team. However it isn't as the extra damage does get reduced by protections too and an extra 50 damage isn't really a lot (and cause it gets reduced it will probably only hit 25 max). It isn't even really effective against the jungle (if it works against them you lose the effect at lvl 7 or 8 cause of base scalings). overall Masamune isn't a really good item compared to others. And picking it up as first item makes it even worse.

2nd and 3rd item are usual (only for most people earlier in the build)

The last part of your build also consist of making basic attacks stronger. First I would switch the order (as stone cutting is a great 4th item IMO). However the items are weaker in the total build as there is no AS in there making it harder to proc the crit. I do liek the hybrid option however without AS it's not really useful.

And lastly I'm missing a really important thing in the build. yuo do have it but in a very limiting way and trying to kill someone with protections is going to be a lot harder without it.
I'm missing a big penetration item ( Titan's Bane or The Executioner) in there against the tanky targets. In total after hitting someone with 3 basic attacks you have 40 "pen" (75 if you have a maxed 2 on) this isn't really a big amount if someone build 1 big armor item like Breastplate of Valor which is a common item on warriors and guardians and soemtimes even mages take it (against a 4+ physical team). This makes Thanatos late game even worse then it is already.

Also the lack of a defensive item (and well relic too) can make going into a fight without your ult a lot riskier.

these are my 2 cents. don't forget this is my opinion. You can agree or disagree with it and I'm open to discussion.

I'm happy that you liked it ;) I got a lot more builds to provide. With assassins attack speed works well, but I prefer more damage and penetration than speed. With more dmg's you can easily take down the enemy tank.

With a god like loki I'd take a attack speed/movement speed build, but with the rest of the assassins and hunters I prefer damages and critical hits.

Anyway, thanks for the feedback and have a nice day/night ;)

Yo! I reallllly like this build but in the situation where the heals is not important what would you recomend replace the wind demon?

@SirShake, You could maybe try an Executioner or a HeartSeeker.

@Devampi, thanks for your comment, It was my first build and I didn't really know of the bbcode on SmiteFire. I'll try to put some on my next builds.

Since this build I've made many updates on the one I use. As soon I find some time, I'll either post a new one or update it. When I made this build I sometimes changed the masamune to a heartseeker, Which would be a good item to start with. I also used an executioner incase of the wind demon few times. Anyway, I'll try to update it once I can. I've got few things that I made that wasn't really good in it ;) (It was an old build that I used and was working great before the update on kukulkan (I mean the one where he got removed and added back as a snake... **Ps, I prefered the dragon ;P...)
