Mid build for dat thicc Zhong Boi

For build 2 I would swap Deso or Soul Reaver for Magus, not Gem of Iso, as Iso is a really good item on Zhong. Magus is a core item on Zhong Kui and gives you great damage against squishies and tanks.

Book of Thoth, cdr boots, Spear of the Magus, gem of iso, Oni hunters garb, Book of the dead.

3k health isn't much of anything without protections. Sure Zhong Kui gets them via his passive, but he gets what, 32? That's not nearly enough. While Bran mentions some good protection items, I think Hide of the Urchin is also a decent item for him when bought early so you can get those stacks ASAP.

Your build is somewhat decent, but not nearly optimal. Warlock's Staff is a bit on the weaker side right now, but is still a well-balanced item for him.

Bancroft's Talon isn't necessary. He's got healing in his kit. You're better off getting pen earlier.

Speaking of pen, the only item you've got for pen (not counting the 10 flat from Magi) is Spear of Desolation. That is not the best pen item for him. You can go with Void Stone if you need some early protections. Spear of the Magus is typically his go-to offensive pen item due to the stacking from Expose Evil and Recall Demons. You can also consider Divine Ruin if you want anti-heal.

With the high health from Warlock's, if you want better survivability, it's not just about health. You'd be served well by getting a good balanced protection item...either Spirit Robe or Mantle of Discord are good choices.

Soul Reaver isn't bad, but it's a full offensive item, and Zhong is a better bruiser.
