Mercurial. A word that evokes volatility, quickness, and cunning. But to compare anything to the speed and wit of the Messenger God Mercury would be to compare a hot day to the searing forge of Vulcan, or a blooming rose to the glory of Venus. It is but a pale comparison. Mercury can leap the space between lightning and thunder, outfox the fox king, and reach tomorrow before the sun.
As an infant, Mercury escaped the watchful eye of his half-brother, Apollo, stole his cattle, fashioned a lyre from a tortoise shell, and snuck in a nap, all before Apollo found him missing. His father, Jupiter, found the childs mischief boisterously entertaining, and awarded him the task of delivering messages for the Gods, traveling between the Heavens, the Earth, and even to the depths of the Underworld.
Now war looms and Mercury races to keep the lines of communication open, though he is often caught in the thick of battle. No stranger to combat, he once slew the monster Argus, the demon with one hundred watchful eyes, using speed and guile alone. But this war is different. The foes are stronger, the stakes higher, and Mercury a pivotal cog in the machine. Should he fail to deliver even a single order the balance could tip, and the time left for this world would be truly mercurial.
I'll explain some of the reasons I use this build right here~
First of all, Mercury is a speedy god without building attack speed so building power on him is great.
Starting with the Warrior Tabi I get some Penetration early game + 30 Physical Damage + 9% Movement speed which also increases his Physical damage cause of the Fastest god alive effect.
Secondly, the Deathbringer will grand you some more powers and also critical strikes at 250%, simple as it sounds.
As a third Item I picked the Bloodforge for some lifesteal and power on its Passive.
Fourth item is the famous Malice which is pretty good for Attack speed and critical strike chance.
Brawler's Beat Stick is not much of a power item but it also increases Critical Strike and gives a good amount of Lifesteal as well which increases your chance on a 1 on 1 combat or maybe more, depends on the enemy gods.
For the last item, I picked the Hastened Fatalis which removed your slow down penatly each times your punch hits an enemy. This will give you huge advantage agains't others since walking will not be enough to escape.
Hand of the Gods saves you from wasting time against jungle creeps.
Sprint. Yeah, Sprint! Due to the effect of the Fastest God Alive, Sprint will increase your Physical Damage a lot and also make easier combat against enemy gods. Exact numbers will be written below.
Damage by numbers~
Physical Power at 259.1 without buffs and anything.
274.1 Damage with the Speed buff from Jungle.
(Side note: The damage buff at jungle is pointless for Mercury. If the speed buff is there, get it! Not the attack buff!)
300 Damage with Speedbuff and Sprint in use
349 Damage with Speed Buff, Fire Giant
335 With Fire Giant and Sprint
370 with Fire Giant, Sprint and Speed buff
This part is kinda useless but it's not bad to know something more precise, right? :3
A lot attack speed even with damaging build(1.72 Attack speed which jumps at 2.42 when using Maximum Velocity)
Critical chance at 65% which means 3 out 5 hits will land a critical hit.
Godly lifesteal. It will heal about 100-150 HP per hit when you land a critical which will happen often.
Squishy... Like... Very squishy... Difficult to escape ganks if you're not close to a tower.
The only things I know about teamwork with Mercury are:
Sobek + Mercury at lane has a lot of cons early game. Always play safe and close to the tower. The move combo is the following
Sobek Grabs with his 1 and then pushes with his 2
Mercury uses Special Delivery and throws the enemy into the tower. With the power of the tower early game plus some hits, it's more or less easy kills or even better, easy first blood.
Hades + Mercury at lane is also good but kinda difficult combo.
Hades ultimate with Mercury's Sonic boom will secury Hades' ultimate damage since the sonic boom will damage and stun them. After that Mercury can use the Made you Look to do some more damage which can also land a critical hit depends on how much items of the build you own till then.
Mercury + Hercules is also a good combo just like Sobek's but it's a con due to 2 Physical types in a lane.
More to come~
Never let the Speed buff off your attention. When it's there, always have it!
