So this is the build I use for Kuku when I play Joust. You have to play smart and well in the beginning. Goal is to get both camp buffs to get gold/xp quicker. Stay in battle get minion damage and enemy god's as well. Use your potions when needed do not recall or die until you have enough gold to complete the Book of Thoth. After that start stacking get camps minions and you should already be able to take down god's by now. Play smart. Don't chase stay behind. Hold the line when allies are gone. Use your abilities to push the enemy a certain direction and also save your teammates when they are getting chased. Be careful as you get your build together you will be targeted cause you will be a threat so keep your distance and don't fall for bait.
Abilities: always combo Zephyr with Whirlwind. And it also helps to slow enemies down before you use your ultimate. And slipstream is very important when you have to get out of situations. Get away from enemies put distance between you and the enemy before they get to close cause of your low mobility.
Pro: high damage, Quick cool down, ability can help you when you drop on yourself(whirlwind) cause of your high damage, a little bulky.
Cons: Mana hungry at first, high cost build, you need to stay alive at least for the first to middle of the game, not a lot of mobility, will be targeted more, no stun counter.
Hopefully this build make sense. It's a bit difficult if you have a really bad start but not impossible. I put items to swap out for situations I encounter a lot with this build hopefully it helps.
If you try it out thanks and let me know how it works out and if anyone has any suggestions to this build I'm happy to hear. This is my first build I'm not a professional on this game this is just a build I use often.
I'll be happy to get some tips to improve

Book of Thoth you got down as first which is fine, but Rod of Tahuti second is not a good idea. It costs too much to get second, and you dont have enough power even with Book of Thoth to use it to its full effect. It is a good item, but its better with 4-5 items already bought/stacked.
Shoes of Focus should really be second as you cannot just rely on Slipstream to get you out of dodge. Even with increased movement speed, it is low early on and you can still get cced heavily. Shoes of Focus should really be core and you should not replace them by any means.
Doom Orb is only good as an early game stacking item since it can get reset on death and the stacks dont provide that much damage compared to Book of Thoth which you already have, and all you really need.
Mages dont really need defense too often unless you are getting dove too often or they have too much physical or magical. In joust that really should not be the case.
Your build needs penetration ASAP if you want full effect of your damage. Every god has some sort of magical and physical defense, even the squishies. They have their already built in defense that scales with each level. With that defense comes a lower effectiveness of your damage. You do have Obsidian Shard but only as a replacement. It really should be core into your build.
