Introduction

Hello God Summoner,

Welcome to my Aphrodite's guide! Aphrodite is my favorite God in this game so far and I've spend a lot of time to optimize my build according to my gameplay.

This guide is based on what I have experimented in game, in different situations, and what I found best to face almost every situation (can never say every single situation).

The skill sequence and items purchase order are subject to variations according to the situation, so please read the related chapters for more information, do not just use them as they are.

I hope you will enjoy this guide and maybe find some inspiration to find your own way!

Do not hesitate to leave constructive comments help me improve the guide.

Why Aphrodite

Aphrodite can be used on a solo lane or in duo lane, my guide is more about playing support in a duo lane. She can play with both ranged or melee gods, but you will be more efficient with a melee god.

Aphrodite will provide very high sustain to your mate and play very aggressive already at low level. As soon as you have your ultimate, you will be able to tower dive even in some dangerous situations or bait you enemy and surprise him (them).

After laning phase, Aphrodite will sustain your whole team during team fights by swapping her kiss. Your team will stay longer in team fights and often safer. You can bait opponents ults and deny them with your ult.

I highly suggest to play her with a friend or someone you trust, being on a vocal is a big plus. (TS/mumble/skype .... ) It changes a lot when you can give fast information about your cooldowns and this way synchronize your moves together. Perfectly timed actions can be devastating for the enemy. On the contrary, engaging without some cooldowns or one or two seconds too early, could ruin your move.

Skills sequence and early game

The skills sequence may a bit vary according to the situation. The sequence presented at the beginning of the guide is for a "regular" situation and aiming for healing first.

First thing to know : when the game starts, do not take any skill at level 1 until you need it. Anything could happen and you could regret to have the wrong skill. For example the enemies are aggressive in the jungle before the minion spawns, you could need your Kiss or your Back Off! to save yourself or a team mate.

If everything goes normal, you can start tanking the blue buff and heal yourself with your Love Birds, then let your mate take some hits. If you are fast enough and your jungler is not in nearby, you can take the furies too. You come in lane close to level 2 (or maybe already level 2, depends what you did in the jungle) and you can Kiss your mate.

At level 3, if your mate is ready to start serious harassing, take your Back Off!. If you're already dominated (shouldn't happen), you can play safe and take a second point in Love Birds.

Now before level 5, you can either go for 2 points in Love Birds to be safe or if you feel like nuking the enemy (be really careful if you go in this direction), you upgrade Back Off! instead. I upgrade Love Birds to level 2 at this point 90% of the time.

Here comes the time that can change your lane domination : Undying Love
If your lane is pushed, be aware of the enemy jungler's position, use your ward to prevent any surprise gank. You can now tower dive for a kill!

Your previous harass should have brought your enemies at least to mid life, one of them may already be backing to the base. Take advantage of that moment to dive the other one trying to stay safe under his tower.

Your wave should be under the tower, Love Birds the enemy wave and try to hit the enemy at the same time so you take aggro on the tower while your mate is rushing safely the enemy. Try to land a Kiss then get out of range of the tower. Back Off! when your mate is in melee range of the enemy, Love Birds the enemy minions or the enemy god if you can and be ready to use your Undying Love. Remember the first level lasts only 0.8s so use it just before a hit from the tower.

If your action was successful, you should be comfortable in your lane. You can then chose to upgrade Back Off! for one more point or keep on maxing Love Birds for heavy healing power.

I never upgrade Kiss before Love Birds and Back Off! are maxed.

Items and situations

You are a support, but to be as efficient as possible, you need MONEY!
So during the first part of the game, I will try to gather as much money as I can!

Starting with the Watcher's Gift will allow you to get all the benefits of farming while leaving that job to your mate. In addition, your gold per 5 will be increased by 1.

Take some Healing Potion for the early game, when your Love Birds are not yet OP and the first level of Meditation for your mana regen (remember, thanks to loving embrace, your soul mate will get 30% of the mana you gain). With this active, you will be able to spam your skills early and mid game, until you get your MP5 items. Once you are ok with your mana regen, you can upgrade it to Salvation to heal your group during team fights. Happens to change the issue of team fights more often than we think.

Once you reach 1k7 gold, get your Midas boots (wait for some more to get some wards too). The gold income from your Watcher's Gift and your midas boots will allow you to gear up as fast as your team mates while buying wards to give map control to your team.

I often sell my midas boots to replace them with Shoes of Focus later in the game when I'm comfortable with my gear and money. Some extra cooldown reduction is always welcome to spam your skills.

As second active spell, I like to take Sprint up to level 2 for escape or to join team fights faster (ambulance on the way!). Later I upgrade it to Heavenly Agility to give my team chasing or disengage potential.

Do not hesitate to take any other active to counter an enemy god or to match the situation. For example against an Ares on my lane, I prefer to take Purification Beads.

Book of Thoth and chrono's pendant core to provide you high mana regen and cooldown reduction to be able to spam your spells. I prefer Book of Thoth versus Ma'at's Tome because it's easier to stack by pushing lanes or farming the jungle when you have some free moments and the final result is +500 mana for Ma'at's Tome against +750 mana for the Book of Thoth. (not even talking about the power gain thanks to more mana).

Rod of Asclepius gives you interesting stats : power, incresed healing and regen for your mates, some tankyness and some movement speed to follow your soul mate.

Rod of Tahuti will give you a huge power boost, enhancing your healing and your damages.

Warlock's sash is pure bonus but the stacks can be farmed together with your Book of Thoth stacks.

In case you are often focused and can't avoid it by positioning yourself better, look at the defensive options. Think about surviving first and then what's gonna be more useful to your team. For example when there is a Loki wanting to touch my boobs too often and I can't see him coming due to his invisibility, I go for Breastplate of Valor, giving me maximum physical protection, mana (increasing my power thanks to Book of Thoth) and 25% cooldown reduction allowing me to spam my spells faster when he's trying to rape me! (Naughty Loki!)

Team fights

In team fights you should try to position yourself in the back line, but not losing contact with your soul mate. Stun dangerous targets with your Kiss, Back Off! when your soul mate is in melee range of one or more enemies. Swap your Kiss on people who needs healing or are going to need it in the next seconds. Spam your Love Birds to heal your team mates, but if you can hit enemies too it's even better.

Be ready at any moment to use your undying live to save a carry or even the tank. (or yourself of course). This ability is very important to temporize and give more time to your team to take out the enemy damage dealers. It can change the issue of a team fight.

Take care not to be trapped in Odin's cage, but abuse of your skills if your soul mate is inside (or link your self to someone inside). Your Back Off! and your Love Birds are working great there and can deal tons of damages as your enemies are confined in a small area.

Tips and tricks

Kiss is a stun that can be used to prevent an enemy to take any action but also to interrupt channeled spells. (for example Anubis casting Plague of Locusts or Death Gaze )

Undying Love can save you or your soul mate from tower hits. As it doesn't last long, use it right before the tower hits.

Learn to use quickcast with spells like Back Off! and Love Birds. Kiss is more tricky to handle with quickcast but can enhance your efficiency. Kiss will follow a friendly target once you release the button even if your mate moves, but for enemy targets you have to aim the location where they will be when it lands.

When the link to your soul mate is about to break because of the distance, you still can use your spells on him. Try to place a quick Back Off! if he's in melee range of an enemy and a preventive Love Birds to give him more survival while you catch him up.

Kiss has no cooldown when used on a friendly target. Abuse from it to quickly heal your team mates with Love Birds.

You can backdoor towers and phoenix with a mate and heal him while he's tanking. However don't do that at low level unless you're sure of what you're doing.

Always stick with your mates and be in every team fight. Try to always stay in the field, your incredible heals and your mana regen should allow you and your mates to back only in a few occasions to buy important items. Being out leveled makes you a crunchy target.

Conclusion

I hope this guide was useful and will help improve your gameplay.

I was surprised by how good this guide was. Vote more please!

Build

Odd. Firstly, Book of Thoth is a late game item since rushing it requires a lot of gold, and by the time you actually finish it, your enemies will have way more items. You'll also gain a more limited effect from its passive if you get it early. Not to mention a support shouldn't steal the last hits, so it'll be impossible to stack up.

Secondly, Chronos' Pendant is a way better early game item, due to the 25 MP5 vs the 15 from Thoth.

Thirdly, I don't like how you're shoehorned into buying two actives. What about Aegis or Beads? Your ult won't always be there.

Other than these three points, the build is good, although the squishiness in the main (ideal) build worries me.

Item Explanations

I already explained why Book of Thoth is a bad item. Other than that, this bit seems alright.

Skill Explanations

Pretty good info. Love Birds for harass and clear and heal, Back Off as a nuke, and Kiss for the stun.

Guiding/Gameplay

Surprisingly good. The section on early game was superb.

You also give a clear role in teamfights, but I think you should also emphasize Love Birds's insane damage. Maybe put a section for some offensive maneuvers, rather than pure defense.

Details

Firstly, rape jokes are in poor taste, to say the least.

Secondly, no, you cannot stop Anubis' Death Gaze. It makes him immune to CC.

Tips and tricks also have good info.

The data in the guide is rather disorganized. Skills and early game are mashed up into one section, and the text walls and rather basic BBC coding make this rather...inaccessible.

Summary

Good info, not so good presentation. You could expand on a few things that I mentioned above, but this guide is still good enough for me to upvote.
