Notes Pendulum of Ages provides the Mana Regen you need to stay active and converts that Mana into extra Intelligence. The Cooldown Rate is also crucial, ensuring your Confusion scape and Ultimate are available as often as possible.

Spear of Desolation is perfect for your burst-assassin playstyle. More importantly, the passive reduces your cooldowns when you get a kill or assist. Since you often blink in to one-shot someone, this resets your abilities, giving you a chance to escape or stun another target immediately.

Book of Thoth gives you the raw power needed to one-shot enemies. The massive Intelligence provided by converting Mana ensures to have enough damage to delete hunters and mages.

Rod of Tahuti serves as your late-game power spike. It boosts your total Intelligence by 25%, making your ability scaling skyrocket.

Blinking Abyss as your main engage is stealthing onto a carry to stun them. This item gives you that mobility more frequently, and the passive damage on arrival adds even more burst to your one-shot combo. Appart from that you can use it as a way to scape.

Obsidian Shard is necessary to deal with enemies building magical defense. Late game, even squishy targets might have some armor, and tanks will definitely block your burst. This item grants 35% Penetration necesary for enemy protections.

Polynomicon is arguably your most important damage item. Your combo involves stunning an enemy at close range, which guarantees a free Basic Attack. This item increases your auto damage after every ability making it possible to one-shot on a combo.

God Aspect De-Activated

Aspect of Mischief

Confusion no longer Stealths you but on refire, you swap positions with your clone.

The Morrigan's Skill Order Notes You should prioritize maxing Dark Omen first because it is your primary wave clear and poke tool with a short cooldown, allowing you to farm efficiently and harass enemies frequently. Next, upgrade some points Deadly Aspects to increase the burst damage of your main engagement tool. Always put a point into your Ultimate, Changeling, whenever available to drastically reduce its cooldown. Moreover, upgrade Confusion, as the stealth and movement speed upgrade is really good for your engages and scapes as you will have great movement speed.

Introduction

Hi, my name is Ragna and I started playing Smite 1 on PC in 2021. I started playing in little community tournaments and after a lot of training and work I manage to play professional tournaments on Atlanta as the Smite Content Cup in 2024 and SCC during 2023.

Now, in Smite 2 I have reached Deity every single split and I have competed in tournaments like Smite Vegas Qualifiers (ending in 5th position of EU) and right now Smite Prime, so Im always getting updated about the best metas on the game.

Apart from that I have a Twitch channel Ragna_smite where we play Smite 2 every single day and we do coaching for the subs to help them to improve on Smite 2, answering questions, talking about the game, etc.

Hope you find this guide as a good starting point for the midlane and to improve your skills with Morrigan.

Here are my socials:

Abilities

The Morrigan's Abilities

Passive - Doomsayer

The third hit of your Basic Attack chain explodes, dealing Magical Damage based on the enemy's maximum Health.

This passive makes your auto-attacks surprisingly deadly, especially against tanks. Always try to land that third hit on an enemy god during your combo, as the percentage-based damage will tick away a significant chunk of their health bar even if they build magic defense.

Ability 1 - Deadly Aspects

Summons two clones to charge up power. Activate again to deal Magical Damage and Stun enemies in a cone in front of you.

This is your main kill setup. It requires two button presses: one to start charging, and one to fire. A common trick is to activate the first stage while invisible, so they cant listen to you casting the ability, making it easier to engage.

Ability 2 - Dark Omen

Fires a wave of dark magic that deals damage and Marks enemies. Marked enemies take bonus damage the next time they are hit by an ability (from you or an ally) or your passive.

Use this primarily for clearing waves and poking. The "Mark" damage is very high, so always try to follow this up with your Deadly Aspects or a Basic Attack to trigger the bonus damage. It also helps your teammates deal more burst if they hit the target you marked.

Ability 3 - Confusion

The Morrigan creates a phantom clone that runs to a target location while she becomes Stealthed and gains Movement Speed. Taking damage breaks the stealth.

This is your primary engage and escape tool. Use it to sneak into the backline to assassinate a carry. You can also use it defensively to juke enemies; send the clone in one direction and run in the other to confuse them. Be careful, as any stray damage will reveal you.

Ultimate - Changeling

Select any God in the current match to transform into an exact copy of them for 10 seconds. You gain their items, stats, and abilities.

This is the most versatile ability in the game. Decide which is the best god for each situation to dominate fights and 1v1s. Mastering this ability means knowing every god in the game, allowing you to adapt to any situation instantly.

Example Combos

The One-Shot: Confusion (Stealth) -> Deadly Aspects (Charge) -> Deadly Aspects (Stun) -> Basic Attack -> Dark Omen

Lane Clear & Poke: Dark Omen -> Basic Attack (Trigger Mark)

The Full Combo: Changeling (Transform) -> Use Enemy Ult -> De-transform -> Deadly Aspects (Stun) -> Dark Omen

How to play Morrigan

Gameplay Start / Early Game

  • Start by clearing the first wave using Dark Omen. Try to hit all the minions and the enemy god if possible. Use your Basic Attack chain to trigger the passive Doomsayer explosion on the melee minions to finish them off quickly.

  • Move to side camps with your jungler. Since your passive deals % Health damage, you can help shred the larger jungle monsters very effectively.

  • Return to lane and play somewhat safely. Use Dark Omen to poke the enemy, but save your Deadly Aspects for self-defense in case the enemy jungler jumps on you.

  • At this stage, The Morrigan is vulnerable because her only escape is Confusion. If you take damage, your stealth breaks, leaving you with no way to get away. Do not push up too far without vision.

  • If you get ganked, use Confusion immediately and run in an unpredictable direction (not straight back to your tower) to confuse the enemy and avoid their skill shots.

Mid Game:

  • You enter your power spike once you finish Book of Thoth and Spear of Desolation. Here you have a great power spike giving you the possibility to look for solo kills.

  • Stop sitting in the mid-lane. Use Confusion to roam through the jungle unseen and look for flanks on the enemy Duo or Solo lane. You are playing more like an Assassin than a Mage.

  • Look for isolated targets. Initiate from stealth with a charged Deadly Aspects, stun them, land your empowered Basic Attack, and fire Dark Omen. This burst usually kills squishy targets or forces their Relics.

  • Use your Ultimate, Changeling, creatively. If a skirmish breaks out, transform into a god with high Crowd Control (like an enemy Ymir or Thor) to set up kills for your team, rather than just looking for damage.

Late Game:
  • In the late game, The Morrigan is one of the scariest gods because she can become anyone. Your goal is to delete the enemy Carry or Mage before the fight even starts.

  • Your primary goals in teamfights are:
    • Flanking with Confusion to find a target in the backline.
    • Transforming into a high-impact god to turn the tide of battle.

  • Do not start the fight yourself unless you are transforming into a tank. It is usually better to wait for the chaos to start, then Stealth in to assassinate a distracted target.

  • Your Ultimate choice decides the game. Look for Combos. If your team has an Ares, transform into him to chain-pull the enemy team twice. If the enemy has a Poseidon, become him to drop a Kraken on them.

  • Be careful with Blinking Abyss and your Stealth. If you get revealed late game, you will be focused and killed instantly. Patience is your best weapon.

  • On a fire giant dance, look always for flanks on carries to make them stop pulling, if you are the one pulling, go into the jungle to look for picks and kills to make the pull easier for your team.

How to ward as a Midlaner

Early/Mid Game

Here you can see the best spots to ward as a Midlaner.

These wards will help you to be safe during the first instances of the game, giving you the information about if your getting ganked from the solo or duo side.

Very Passive Situation

These wards will help you recover if you come from a bad spot i which maybe you are getting ganked a lot or invaded

Late Game

These wards are use to help your team on teamfight situations or fire gigant pulls, there are a lot of possibilities take those ones who you consider that suits the best to your game situation.

Siege / Defense Phoenix

For this situation there are only two main spots to have a ward, as you can see them rotating from one lane to the others, maybe you could even put one at lane to see if minions are approaching the phoenix but it isn't that important as knowing which lane they are going to siege.

As with that information you could be able to be on the right position before your enemies giving you a great advantage for the teamfight.

Regardless of the role, wards are the most important consumable you can buy, so don't forget to buy two wards after each back!
