Introduction

Hi, this guide is brought to you by lestimics. I started playing Smite 1 on PC in 2014. I've been playing competitively since 2020 and have been a professional Smite player from 2021 to 2023. I've played on different teams like JustF6, Gilded Gladiators or Tartarus Titans.

You can check out the SmiteVOD YouTube channel where my recorded professional games are. I've peaked at 3500 MMR GrandMaster/Masters in Ranked Conquest on the PC platform every season since 2018. I've also done Smite Masters (LAN) 4 times in 2022, so I really think I have the knowledge to guide on the Solo role in SMITE 2.

I hope you find this guide as a useful learning resource for playing Nike as Solo.

Nike's Abilities

Passive - To Victory!

Hitting an enemy with an ability grants a Laurel to you and allied gods within 10 meters, if an ally hits someone with a Laurel, you heal them, and if you deal damage to them, you deal extra damage and heal.

It is a passive ability that offers a bonus when hitting enemies, either by applying minor heals or extra damage.

Ability 1 - Rend

Nike strikes three times, damaging enemies in front of her, hitting two hits reduces protections, while hitting three disarms the target. Additionally, Nike is immune to knock ups.

It is Nike's primary ability for pushing minion waves and dealing damage, and it also deal damage through walls.

Ability 2 - Barrier Formation

Nike summons a barrier that blocks all basic attacks, while using this ability, she moves more slowly and is immune to knock-ups. Enemies who get near the barrier are repelled. At any point, Nike can reactivate the ability to collapse the barrier and deal damage to enemies in front of it.

It’s a bit situational ability, it’s very good against adcs because it blocks basic attacks, and against melee characters because you can easily repel and harass them.

Ability 3 - Valiant Leap

Leap to a target location, dealing Physical Damage and knocking up enemies where you land.

It’s a very simple leap, but it can help you to engage and apply that CC, jump over walls, or dodge abilities.

Ultimate - Sentinel of Zeus

When you activate this ability, you become immune to crowd control, gain a very large shield, and damage all enemies around you in a large area, in addition to slowing them.

It’s a really good ultimate, applying that damage and slow when you engage is crucial, plus the shield makes you very tanky.

Example Combos:

To push the minions quickly use Rend on the minion wave, the three hits allow you to clear the minions very effectively, especially when combined with Nike's area basic attacks. You can also use Barrier Formation to push the minions and group them all together, then push using basic attacks.

Combos to damage an enemy god: Poke from a distance with Rend, if you are in melee range, use Barrier Formation (cancel the ability quickly if you want to deal damage fast), hit the Valiant Leap jump is important to apply the knock-up and follow up with your ultimate Sentinel of Zeus.

For teamfights: Poke from a distance using Rend, if you see a good opportunity, jump onto the backline Valiant Leap to knock them up, use Barrier Formation to deal extra damage, and keep hitting them with your ultimate Sentinel of Zeus, also, call out to your team to follow you so you aren't alone.

I recommend playing with skills in instant casting, to gain those few tenths of a second that can mean the difference between winning or losing.

How to play Nike Solo

Gameplay Start / Early Game
  • Start at the Fire Giant side in the lane. You have to start on the blue buff leveling up your Barrier Formation doing it as fast as you can and then go to the lane to push the minions. Push the first wave using your basic attacks, and use Barrier Formation in front of the melee minions to group all the minions together and push with your basic attacks. If you don't lose any minions you will go up to level 2 when you manage to kill one more minion from the next wave of minions.

  • To push minion waves as quickly as possible, Try to group up the minion wave using Barrier Formation or by hitting the enemy god, then, use your basic attacks and Rend to push the lane quickly so you can poke the enemy god.

  • The following moves are push the lane and try to win the Totem (Totem gives gold for all the team and mana regeneration). From this point on you have to try to win the pressure of the lane to be able to kill the side camps and get more gold and experience. Keep in mind that when you reach level 3, you need to be careful because it's a good time for the enemy jungler to gank you, so use your free ward Bifrost Shard.

  • When you reach around level 5, minions will appear in the fire giant zone. It's important to kill them with your jungler because they give a lot of experience and gold, and they also give you permanent power. Although the enemy team will probably want to fight this too, so you have to be prepared for a small teamfight.

  • From this point it is repeating the same thing push minions > blue buff > Totem > gold camps.

  • Remember to buy wards to avoid the ganks and try to comunicate to the jungle to invade blue buffs or try to kill the solo laner.

Mid Game:
  • At this point of the game, which is roughly between 8:00 and 18:00 minutes, you have to push the lanes as quickly as possible and trying to gain as much experience and gold as possible additionally, look for some mid lane rotations to gain an advantage for your team.

  • In general, to farm in the best way possible, you should try to push the minions as quickly as possible, and constantly be doing the gold and experience camp, the totem and the rocks in the fire giant area, also if you can pressure the enemy god to get some kills.

  • Good rotations for the mid lane are usually when the beacon spawns and when towers are being dived. Try to be ready when the beacon spawns in the middle, with full health and purchased, so that if there is a teamfight you can contribute the maximum. For this you have to play with your team, poking from a distance using Rend, if you see a good opportunity, jump onto the backline Valiant Leap to knock them up, use Barrier Formation to deal extra damage, and keep hitting them with your ultimate Sentinel of Zeus

  • You can also make a good rotation towards the duo or mid lane when you see a teamfight. If you manage to win these teamfights, you can kill a Gold Fury or Pyromancer, which are very useful thanks to the gold and experience they provide and the advantages they offer.

  • If you use the teleporter from the base to the duo lane, you have to do the same play but trying to kill the carry or the support and gain the pressure to be able to do the Gold Fury.

  • You also need to keep farming your solo lane so you don't fall behind in experience and gold, only rotate at good times, don't force it.

Late Game:
  • At this point in the game your job is to be the frontline with the support as teamfights start around the fire giant at around minute 20:00.

  • You have to harass, poke and kill the enemy carry, mid and jungler as they are the most dangerous for your team.

  • To achieve this, you need to be grouped with your team and place as many wards as possible in the fire zone, since vision of the enemies is crucial for engaging and dealing damage much more easily. You have to play with your team, poking from a distance using Rend, if you see a good opportunity because the jungler or someone else is out positioned, jump using Valiant Leap to knock him up, use Barrier Formation to deal extra damage, and keep hitting him with your ultimate Sentinel of Zeus. Make sure your team can accompany you.

  • You can also tank the fire giant so the enemy team gets closer and then you can fight if you're sure you'll win the teamfight by doing this because you can get pocked by the fire giant.

  • The moment you have the fire giant buff, the sieges on the Phoenix begin. Here you have to play slowly with your team, poking the enemies and the Phoenix slowly with the help of your carry and mid. You can also go with your jungle to another Phoenix to create pressure and try to destroy the phoenix. It's also important to do Gold Fury because they can deactivate the phoenix, making them much easier to destroy and get the Pyromancer's bomb to destroy the phoenixes faster, or you can also throw the bombs at the doors that open at their base to destroy them.

  • If the enemy has the fire giant and it is your turn to defend the Phoenix, you have to be in a group with your team and defend under the Phoenix, being careful with the picks.

  • Constantly call for all information, when you engage try to be followed by your team, always be sure of your decision making.

  • Remember to wards all the zone on fire giant and when you are sieging you need wards too.

How to ward as Solo

White circles: Vision Ward
Green circles: Sentry Ward

Early/Mid Game

Here you can see the best spots to ward as a Sololaner.

These wards will help you to know where the enemy sololaner is moving, as well as if the jungler is trying to gank you.

High Pressure Game

These wards are when you have a lot of pressure in lane and you want to invade blue buffs and red buffs. Remember to call your team that you want to invade so they can help you.

Late Game

These wards are for fire giant teamfights. Remember that you can only have 2 wards active at the same time, so you will need help from your team to ward the entire area from the fire giant.

Siege/Defense Phoenix

These wards are very important when it comes to sieges and defending phoenixes. In this case, the wards are the same whether you defend or attack.
This wards are important because mages often cast abilities through walls, you will be able to react better to their abilities.
