Updated current build for Xbalanque* Currently level 10 with 1300 kills and 1900 assists 92 wins.
When I first started playing Smite, I had a drastically different build for him where I focused solely on Crit strike and attack speed. Now it is a little more balanced out with some power and attack speed and crit chance.
I start out with The Executioner instead of boots because I would only need 1000 more gold to finish it out instead of using all of my gold for the Ninja Tabi. When I first start I focus primarily on minion kills and attacking from afar while using the Rising Jaguar ability to escape if pressed. Depending on the enemy you can sneak some kills in with Rising Jaguar as well.
After the Executioner is upgraded, I buy the Ninja Tabi boots to give me a boost of attack and movement speed. (Note: Warrior Tabi can be purchased instead, since attack speed is maintained through other items.)
Next is a must for Xbalanque in Hastened Fatalis. This is the ultimate minion killer and definitely deals damage to fleeing gods. While you are hitting your target you continue to catch up them so if the fleeing god is not zig zagging (most do but occasionally dont) you will pick up some kills that way.
Next I pick up Hidden dagger/ short sword just to give my attacks a chance to crit strike. Before fully upgrading into Rage or Deathbringer (pending on how things are going) I pick up Asi first. This helps you maintain battles a little longer with the lifesteal and of course an increase of attack speed doesn't hurt.
* Instead of Asi, Qins sais is also used.
Once Asi is acquired its only a matter of time that you gain the extra 900 gold to upgrade your short sword into Rage. Once rage is upgraded, I grab another short sword/hidden dagger to increase my crit chance some more.
ALTERNATIVES
Witchblade- increases attack speed while reducing enemies attack speed and physical power. I sometimes grab this instead of Asi or my last item.
Transcendence- You could replace The Executioner with this so you can start building stacks early.
Bloodforge- has been used to replace Asi- Just a lot more expensive but helps you sustain.
Heartseeker- Have not used yet, but I think it would help with this build with the increase in attack speed and power.
Jotunns Wrath- This build lacks a lot of penetration, this would help with that problem and gives some CDR
Again, constructive comments are appreciated. This build has served me well but it does struggle against a tankier opponent, especially early game, but overall its rare that I don't go 15-7 k/d which is not bad by any means.

Because your build, even with my suggestions, it not optimal damage-wise.
I was just suggesting a few changes to stay with your play style (attack speed and crit).
I have only played Smite for about 2 weeks so my knowledge of most items in it is lacking.
Build
Your only movement speed item is Hastened Fatalis, putting you 8% slower than anybody else.
Your penetration item is only 10 flat from Ichaival, and this will lower your damage, even with all the power and crit you have.
I would suggest you to replace Odysseus' Bow for Asi.
You would trade 10% attack speed for 15 flat pen and gain some lifesteal in the deal.
Your build order is bit awkward, because you start with the most expensive items first.
You should start with the cheapest items to get your damage spikes earlier.
Also, you are taking your only movement speed item as last item.
In Arena, because it's so quick, you won't always have time to get to your 6th item.
I would suggest to pick Ichaival first and get Hastened Fatalis sooner.
You have 3 items with critical chances, meaning that you have a 60% base crit chance.
With that high base crit chance, Rage's passive won't be very effective.
Therefore, you could replace Rage either for
- Wind Demon to keep your 60% crit chance, plus a passive that fits well in your build.
- Transcendence to give more punch to your crits and allow you to keep your Branching Bola active.
Skill sequence
I personally prefer to level up his Poison Darts over Branching Bola for 3 main reasons.
1 - Your mana pool early game is not very high to sustain Branching Bola active very long before your back to base.
2 - Poison Darts is easier to land than basics and allow you to confirm more damage to more targets.
3 - Early game, you may have to clear minions, and Poison Darts is better for that.
Pick your ultimate at level 5, but don't put other points in it until the end-game.
Putting more points in your ultimate only increase your movement speed by 10%/rank for the duration, you don't really need that.
This allows you to put points in your other skills and increase your damage earlier.
It is more efficient to maximize 1 ability over others.
Either it be Branching Bola or Poison Darts, you should focus on this ability and have it at rank 5 at level 9.
Your second ability would be rank 5 at level 12 and your third at level 16.
