Typhon, Father of Monsters

Role – Guardian.

Basic attacks – He wields the sickles that he used to rend the sinews from Zeus’s limbs.

Passive – Madman’s Indignation – Each time Typhon is hit by a crowd control effect, he permanently gains 5 physical and magical protections, stacking up to ten times. This effect cannot trigger more than once every 50 seconds.
Additionally, when Typhon reaches half stacks, his basic attacks cause minor bleeding every .5 seconds for 1 second. Damage per tick: 5/10/15/20/25 (+10% of your magical power) [Edit: Deals 5 +1 per god level, up to 25. Suggestion provided by Nuckyswag.] This effect can only proc once on each enemy god every 3 seconds. When he reaches max stacks, his movement speed increases by 10%.

1 – Howling Lava – Typhon vomits vicious viscous lava in front of him. All enemy minions and goddesses/gods who get hit are slowed by 20%. If Typhon doesn’t strike anyone, he leaves a small pile of lava in front of him. Enemies who walk into his fury-taken-form are slowed for the same amount and duration, but take 50% less damage only once per passing through.

Ability: Cone
Cost: 60/65/70/75/80
Cooldown: 12s
Damage: 70/110/150/190/230 (+50% of your magical power)
Slow: 20%
Slow duration: 3s
Lava puddle radius: 15
Lave puddle duration: 5s

2 – Gaia’s Avenger – Typhon soars upward and hovers for 2 seconds before deciding where to dive nearby at a steep angle. If he lands on an enemy, he rends her/him with both sickles, rooting them for 1 second.

Ability: Leap
Cost: 60/65/70/75/80
Cooldown: 15s
Damage: 70/130/200/270/340 (+80% of your magical power)
Radius: 15
Flight lifetime: 2s
Root: 1s

3 – Draconic Lunge – Typhon can fire 2 snake clusters. After the first, he has 4 seconds to fire another. Once Typhon releases the first snake cluster, he is immune to knockups until he fires the second. If the snakes hit walls, he yanks himself to them. If the snakes hit enemy goddesses/gods, he drags them to him, holding and crippling them.

Ability: Dash/Pull
Cost: 60/65/70/75/80
Cooldown: 14s
Damage: 50/90/130/170/210 (+30% of your magical power)
Cripple/Hold lifetime: .5/.8/1/1.2/1.5s
Range: 60

4 – Last Titan’s Rage – Typhon channels with crowd control immunity for 3 seconds. Within a circle around him, he bashes the ground in a mad fit to summon 10-15 random volcanic geysers that have slight delays. [Edit: Number of geysers (7/9/11/13/15). Suggestion provided by Nuckyswag.] Any enemies hit are popped up, but only from the first geyser that hits. Each successive geyser that hits a god does 50% less damage.

Ability: Area
Radius: 30
Cost: 80/90/100/110/120
Cooldown: 90s
Damage: 80/110/140/170/200 (+50% of your magical power) per geyser
Chanel duration: 3s

Stats:

Max HP: 2350

HP per lvl: 85

Max MP: 900

MP per lvl: 35

Speed: 365

Per lvl: 0

Range: 12

Per lvl: 0

Attacks per sec: 1.15

Per lvl: 0.016

Damage: 70

Per lvl: 1.50

Phys prot: 80

Per lvl: 3

Mag prot: 50

Per lvl: 1

Here are the rationales for my choices:

I want Typhon to be a mobile and cc-heavy tank like Sobek. I also picked abilities that make sense for his lore as a dragon-like lava titan. Because Zeus couldn’t kill Typhon, but jailed him under Mount Etna, a CC-based defense passive seems appropriate. I added a little bit extra to his passive for fun. (Some gods have multiple passives, so I think he can too.)

His 1 is general skill-shot, but the lingering puddle provides some interesting versatility in chokepoints.

His 2 is like Hou Yi’s jump, but with more of a focus on aggression and/or peeling due to the steep angle and root.

I wanted something odd for his 3, so I combined the wall grapple from Camille in League of Legends with Sylvanus’s pull and then doubled it. He could use this to cc two players, one after another. He could use it as a double escape. Or he could even use it to cling to one wall and then drag an enemy to him. Depending how they program him, he could even grab an enemy and then yank himself to a wall to bring his foe with him. This would be a difficult, but creative mechanic to use in game.

His 4 is all of his rage and madness for being imprisoned while demi-gods slaughter his family. For this ultimate, think firestorm from Dark Souls. This would be a combo tool for other players’ ultimates or stronger way to hold off a chokepoint.

I think I’ve made his kit threatening, yet fair, just like Typhon. (I call him fair, because he chose to imprison Zeus rather than kill him after removing his sinews.) I designed Typhon with his classical interpretation in mind (dragon necks for legs) because more people know him that way even though I view him as a literal hundred-headed dragon.

I put a lot of effort and thought into this, so I hope you enjoy it.

It would mean a lot to me if my pinnacle role model was in my favorite moba. (If my kit gets used, I’d like credit for it. Even if it doesn’t get used, I’d still like to play as him in a game for once. Although, if he’s not a guardian, I think that would be silly. He’s the one of the sturdiest and most unkillable forces in Greek mythology and father to monsters. That speaks guardian all the way.)

That's a lot of damage for a guardian.

Im sorry but that passive is REALLY good, considering the fact that every god has a crowd control effect and you did not distinguish the fact if hard or soft cc triggers it. In conquest he would get 50 protections in less than 10 min in. Add all the other effects it gives as well and the ability is bloated with stats. I think you have a good idea for the passive, and I quite like it, but I suggest you lower the defenses gained each stack, or lower the stacks.

Very thorough and well thought out but one thing In particular could use clarifying: how does his 3 (snakes) work specifically? How long can you wait between firing each snake? Can you fire other abilities in-between snakes? Do snakes do minion damage (since it's not specified I assume his 1 is his primary waveclear)? Just felt that those issues could use clarifying.

I like the in-kit synergies, it seems very basic attack focused for a guardian, but his passive (at half stacks) plays into that. You can lock down enemies with his 3, keep them close with his 1, and root them again with his leap if you want for a standard lockdown combo. In God concepts I'm usually much more interested in that type of stuff than raw numbers and I think all of that works well.

Overall though I think the passive is a bit bloated, it's trying to do a few too many things at once at least in my opinion. Protections stacks are fine, but I'd rather see him keep the basic attack passive full time or at max stacks and just drop the movement speed part, he already has a lot of movement in his kit and I don't think having that additional passive makes him more interesting so much as it just bloats his passive.

Finally, his ultimate isn't really explained all that well, my impression is kinda a sol ultimate in a circle around him? How exactly does that work :o

But yeah, great concept, I can see you put a ton of work into it : ]

Really? I thought his damage was fairly even with the other guardians. I did multiple comparisons between them (with a focus on Sobek and Ymir).

Yeah, I went overboard with it. Your final suggestions would work well if I kept all the parts. I could also probably just have it as a protection buff and scrap the other two parts. Maybe I should increase the time for triggering stacks up to 60-70 seconds.

Thanks for your feedback. For his third ability, he can fire 2 snake clusters. I have the time between listed ("After the first, he has 4 seconds to fire another.") You bring up a good point about if he can use other moves in between. I'd think that he could, but it would cancel out the option to fire the second snake. I mentioned that his 3 was like Sylvanus's pull, but I wasn't specific enough about the minions. I'd imagine it wouldn't do minion damage. Also, his one would be his main wave clear.

I went overboard with his passive. That's the one thing people keep pointing out. It should be cut down overall. I only added the movement speed for fun, but it's unnecessary.

His ult is like a mix of Sol's and Sylvanus's. He'd root himself in place and within a circular area, pillars like Sol's would shoot up instead of rain down.

My mistake, now that I take a closer look at the stats, I see that his kit is fair. (Didn't notice the "50% less damage" thing.) Great concept, and great poem.

EDIT:
Also, what do you think about this icon I made for his passive?

Thanks. Also, that icon is a good start for a profile of classical Typhon.
