Passive - Master of the Dao Master of the Dao Dao is a resource that you generate over time, by dealing damage to an enemy after not having taken damage for a while and by firing a charged Dao Cultivation. Your other abilities gain extra effects from consuming Dao and while you have at least 6, your basic attacks will chain to an extra target. Keeping up Dao resource is fairly easy, just make sure you have at least 6 Dao when planning to poke the enemy with
Flames of the Phoenix
1 - Flames of the Phoenix Flames of the Phoenix Your main poking tool. it deals fairly high damage and can shred enemy protections when you have at least 6 Dao. I max this ability second due to it mainly being a poking tool in the early game and does not go down in cooldown when ranked up. In the early game you need to focus on clearing the wave more and is not optimal for waveclear in the early game due to its fairly small area.
2 - Dao Cultivation Dao Cultivation is an essential part of
Yu Huang's kit. Its root plays an important role both in his utility and play style. Generally this ability is best used in tandem with
Flames of the Phoenix. If you hit an enemy with
Dao Cultivation and root them,
Flames of the Phoenix can be used to follow up for some great damage. I max this ability first due to it being the better clearing tool. It can hit a full minion wave and the cooldown does go down by levelling it up, which means having your main setup and clearing tool more often. NOTE: this ability does
NOTincrease in damage while being channelled. The channel only increases the Dao
Yu Huang gains after firing it. This In fact, if you are trying to combo someone you may not want to keep charging the ability because it makes it very obvious for the enemy.
3 - Celestial Flight Celestial Flight Is quite a unique ability mainly used for getting out of sticky situations. It is a self banish that makes you untargetable AND cc immune for up to 3 seconds. If used carefully, it makes you a very hard god to kill. I max this ability last because the damage part of this ability is not its main strength. The cooldown is very high and does go down by levelling it up, but as with most escape abilities, you just want to max it out last. As I mentioned earlier in this guide, you can use this ability to cleanse yourself from CC such as slows, but also ultimate abilities like
Da Ji's
Paolao. At 6 Dao you also gain a knockback effect on landing. However, I suggest you not relying on this knockback to make any plays or setups as this is your best ability to escape. Of course there are situations where you CAN use this ability as a means of finishing off a target, but these moments are rare so be careful!
4 - Dueling Dragons Dueling Dragons Is what sets apart a good
Yu Huang from an average/bad
Yu Huang player. This ultimate is not easy to land and has a rather slow cast time. At 6 Dao the Width of this ability is significantly increased and makes it so much easier to land so make sure to always have 6 Dao ready for this ability. You will need to practice with this ability a lot in order to understand its limits. Important to note is that this is also a tool for
Yu Huang to escape as this makes him CC immune and able to push an enemy away from him.
You mainly want to open a fight with this ability.
For your highest possible damage combo (12 Dao) use 4 --> 2 --> 1 or 2 -->4 --> 1
TIP: you are able to move freely while channelling this ability, which makes it so you can also push enemies towards your own tower/team with this ability at point blank.
