Hel has a really high learn curve. One of the highest. Play several games with her before you throw in the towel.
Hel is stupid mana hungry and probably the most mana hungry god in Smite. Because of this, I usually stick to just healing for the first 3 or so items. Try to always have a mana camp buff on you. Hel should ALWAYS get the mana buff. Be selfish about it.
Use cleanse preemptively! Because cleanse (second ability) provides a CC immunity buff, use it when you sense incoming CC, not just after someone is already CC'ed. This is a great tactic when you're fully decked out and going on the offensive. A lot of people open up with CC, especially warriors. Starting a 1-on-1 fight while cleansed is a great way to throw off the opponent.
Use your heal for the speed buff too! Hel's heal provides a very nice AOE speed buff. It affects minions! Hax!
A chief criticism of Hel is that she's very squishy. Not so much with this build. You'll end up with 190 physical protection and 100 magic protection. And shockingly.... you'll still have crazy damage! What the hel?! I often end a match being one of the players with the highest player damage, as well as highest damage mitigation, and godly amounts of healing.
This build works. Give it a shot!
Smite is an online battleground between mythical gods. Players choose from a selection of gods, join session-based arena combat and use custom powers and team tactics against other players and minions. Smite is inspired by Defense of the Ancients (DotA) but instead of being above the action, the third-person camera brings you right into the combat. And, instead of clicking a map, you use WASD to move, dodge, and fight your way through the detailed graphics of SMITE's battlegrounds.

I usually manage with Chronos Pendant instead of Breastplate of Valor; and Lotus Crown instead of Celestial Legion Helm.
Though most people would probably recommend something that goes for manapool instead of mp5, like warlock's sash or book of toth.
mmy build usually has the following items:
-cdr boots
-rod of asclepius
-chronos pendant/breastplate of valor (depending on the opponent having a fed phisical)
-lotus crown
(so far that's my core build, for healing advantages and support role, since I hate conquet and don't like siege that much either, so I don't have to sololane, I just have to keep people alive, and demolish the opponents. for this, the best methods are cdr, mp5, and obviously asclepious's heal boost. Lotus Crown is pretty much something one can't skip on her, it'd go well beside celestial legion helm as well if need be, since that item has a passive for self survival anyway.)
and for the last 2 slots I usually go with rod of tahuti and bulwark of hope, not necessarily in this order.
And I might prefer the warlock's sash over the
Of course, just thoughts...you'd know better.
