Is this a joke? Am i bronze?

Guide updated for patch 7.11. (added serrated to selling boots, switched to ninja tabi, changed some text)

THIS IS NOT MEANT TO BE A GUIDE FOR PLAYING MERCURY IN THE NORMAL / META WAY AND DOES NOT REPRESENT HOW YOU SHOULD BUILD MERCURY TO PLAY THAT WAY. IF YOU THINK THE BUILD SUCKS, READ THE GUIDE, IT SERVES A SPECIFIC PURPOSE.

Is this a joke?

No (sadly). This is, at least in my opinion, a totally legitimate way of playing Mercury that I find at least more enjoyable, if maybe not as effective, as the normal crit style build. Yes, I know this is not how most people play Mercury. No, I don't think that that makes this trolling.

You may well catch some flak from teammates for doing this, but if you do it right, you'll get less bm after you win the game for them. (assuming they don't give up and troll or surrender I guess)

Ok, so how does it work?

In short, the process is:

    - Farm early game
    - Push towers while your team baits fights around objectives like Gold Fury or Fire Giant
    - Push phoenixes when you get a chance to, if you get Enhanced Fire Giant you can easily push them with no minions
    - Ult away when you get collapsed on
    - Ult the titan and win

Sounds simple enough, because it is, really. The complicated part is trying to find your way to a phoenix to push it, but the most fun part about this playstyle is figuring that bit out.

Alright, then explain the build, it looks dumb

Well, does look pretty dumb, but there's plenty of thought process behind it. The basic goal of the build is simple: (almost) the most tower dps you can get out of 6 physical items. The only item that is not true of is Golden Blade, but that is needed to get the farm necessary to get the rest of the build.

Once you sell Ninja Tabi (no power potions or fire giant), this build has:

    - 254 power
    - 2.5 attack speed
    - 530 movement speed
    - 40 percent penetration

Use Maximum Velocity and that increases to 333 power.

Once you get to hyper late game, if you sell Golden Blade for Hastened Katana, Serrated Edge, or Toxic Blade, pop a 500 and a 3k potion, and get enhanced fire giant, you reach around 450 power, or 539 with Maximum Velocity activated due to Silverbranch Bow passive.

At this stage, a tier 2 tower dies in 5 auto attacks, or exactly 2 seconds, with no minions. Add a red buff and Belt of Frenzy, and it dies in four.
A phoenix dies in 6 auto attacks, or just over 2 seconds, also with no minions. No one can get to you in time to stop you if you get to the phoenix first.

As for relics, Purification Beads is just necessary on any squishy character, and the Belt of Frenzy pickup is for the same reason as everything else, tower dps (or fire giant dps)

Isnt this Loki's job?

Update since patch 7.10: Not anymore! Now you're stuck with this.

Previous text:

Well, normally, yes. Does it have to be Loki's job? Think about it, Mercury kills the towers/phoenixes faster, and, at least in my opinion and experience, is safer while doing so. Plus you probably wont get BM'd for picking Mercury.

Maybe you're thinking "Yes, ok, so Mercury kills phoenixes really fast, but Loki one-shots mages and hunters too!". To which my response would be "Alright, but if a tower with 2500 health dies in four auto attacks, how many do you think it takes to kill a Zeus?"

Hell, with 539 power, 2.5 attack speed, and 40% pen, I don't think your tank is going to last very long either, especially since they cant build Spectral Armor against this build. But I didn't want to focus on the PvP aspect of this build since, well, it's not really the point, is it?

Actually pretty funny vid, and although absolutely trollish feeling, probably wins you a bunch of games at the expense of general popularity =P
