Kumbhakarna Intro

Kumbhakarna is the most underrated god in smite. He is the least used in league and in normals (except for normal joust) He is underrated and underplayed because most people do not seem to know how to use him correctly. Fortunately, that is why I am making this guide. Hopefully, after reading this guide, you decide to use him and you use him to his full joust potential.

LORE

Do you hear it? That distant rumble like thunder across the mountains? Like pitched battle from miles away? Like a stampede of elephants across the plains? Know it is none of these things. That rumble you hear is the bellowing snore of Kumbhakarna, the Sleeping Giant.

Quick with a laugh, honest with friends, but devastating in battle, Kumbhakarna embodies the traits of a hero, but loyalty to his tyrant brother, Ravana, often leads him to the wrong side.

So jovial and pious is he, that when granted a boon by Brahma, Kumbhakarna wished to take Indra's place and rule the Heavens. Indra was jealously threatened, convinced Brahma would let the good-natured giant usurp him, and magically twisted Kumbhakarna's tongue at the last second. Instead of asking for “Indraasana” (Indra's Seat), he asked for “Nidraasana,” ... to sleep.

Now, Kumbhakarna is a dozing behemoth, waking only once every six months. Yet, Ravana is concerned with the growing fervor of the battle between gods and demons, sensing his dominion slipping. Prematurely, he has awoken his brother and pressed him to fight. Though reluctant, as if he knows his brother's stance is unjust, Kumbhakarna fights out of loyalty and a warrior's code.

Now, that rumbling you hear, it is not his snores, but Kumbhakarna's mighty roar. Or was that a yawn?

Pros / Cons

Pros

-You have 3 CC abilities you can chain together.
-Excellent at clearing waves with Throw Back.
-Good amount of damage with your full combo.
-Your passive Sleepy can save your life when killed by a long range ability, while standing in a safe location.
Cons

- Groggy Strike takes a while to land and is easily avoided.
- Mighty Yawn is cancelled by damage, making its uses limited.
-Your CC is more used on one enemy then a full team (like Ymirs CC is)
-Your passive Sleepy is pretty much worthless around enemies.

Skills

Sleepy: Kumbhakarna does not die when he reaches 0 health, instead he falls asleep. He will awaken after 8s at 25% health and mana, unless hit with 6 basic attacks (+1 every 5 levels) while sleeping. This passive has a 240s cooldown.

Throw Back: Kumbhakarna sleepily runs forward. If he hits an enemy he stops and deals damage. If the enemy is a minion, he throws them, dealing increased damage to each enemy they hit.

Tips and Tricks
  • This is your wave clear. Hit the front minion through the whole wave, and your set.
  • Remember to use this as a poke, as you throw the minion you hit a good distance.
  • Use this after you use Epic Uppercut, as they land, to maximize your combo damage.

Groggy Strike: Kumbhakarna smashes down, damaging all enemies in front of him and rooting them.

Tips and Tricks
  • Remember to use this to hit as many enemies as possible as it stuns everything in a line.
  • This ability is threatening to enemies and can allow you to make them back away from possible minion cs!
  • Try not to use this to initiate a fight. Save it to stop enemies from chasing or running away.

Mighty Yawn: Kumbhakarna lets out a mighty Yawn that mesmerizes all enemies in range. If awakened early, enemies have their Attack Speed and Movement Speed slowed. Kumbhakarna may use this ability while asleep.

Tips and Tricks
  • Use this even in team fights, for the attack speed and movement speed debuff.
  • Use combat blink, then this ability, into a group of enemies. The mez and debuff gives your team a head start!
  • Remember to use this while your passive is active! It will increase your survival chance!

Epic Uppercut: Kumbhakarna moves forward, stops at the first enemy god he encounters, and delivers a massive melee attack that uppercuts the enemy directly into the air. When the enemy lands, it deals area damage and causes knockup to enemies nearby.

Tips and Tricks
  • Don't be afraid to use this ability to allow a ally to escape from a fight!
  • Don't use this ability to initiate a team fight!
  • If your using this ability in a attempt to kill a enemy, save it to be the finisher or to close to the finisher ability.
