Chernobog Build

When going against a "Squishy" enemy team

Notes This build is recommended if the tanky enemies are below 200 physical protection (per each god)

The "Ninja Tabi" helps a lot the early game especially if the enemy Duo lane starts putting too much pressure on the lane, the early clean is pretty good and it helps a lot pushing enemies away, especially when "Rage" is online and the crit start coming up and pair it with the Deathbringer.

Brief Introduction

Hi everyone, It's InformerHyena. I'm Glad you are reading this, it means a lot for me. I'm sorry if this post may feel "empy of information" but it's my first post here, even though i am following the community of SMITEFire for at least 5 years and today i decided to finally show up and say what i think about builds.

I play SMITE for over 6 years and from the first day i always played Hunters, ADCs to be more precise and i always studied for hours: Builds, Orders, what's best choice in those particular situation, what is bad in others, and so on. It always attracted me, even helping my team mates out with other build for different Gods and different roles.

Before we start i'd like to let you know which style of gameplay i do like to have, how i behave and the other stuff: i do prefer Basic Attack Hunters over Ability Based Hunters, for the only reason that i feel more "reliable" in many situations having my Basic Attack hit hard, compared to other hunters that only hit hard with abilities but their Basic Attack is pretty weak, but that's only depending upon my style and my preferences, feel free to pick whoever you like and don't take my words as a judgement.

At the moment i feel like Chernobog is my best ADC and my favorite pick since he is a very good combination of "Hitting hard with abilities" and "Hitting hard with Basic Attacks"

Build explaination

Let's explain why i made this build and let's go throughout the secrets of it.

First of all, in my opinion crit builds are always super good, so i wanted to take the current SPL build and modify it in order to have consistant crit, or at least enough (more about this later).

I'm honestly not a huge fan of Odysseus' bow, i like the attack speed percentage that it provides but i don't like the output damage it does every 4 basic attacks, it's a good amount of damage but, it only procks every 4 basic attacks and if you can crit, you have the chance of critting more than once every 4 basic attacks, so the output damage is a lot more stronger, i know why SPL players buy this item, i'm just saying that i'm not a fan of it, with that said i made myself this tiny little change:

starting with Hunter's Blessing and immediately securing the spot for our Devourer's Gauntlet will give us a very good (if not the best for that cost) initial damage, we'll then follow up with Ninja Taby, to get inside the early game with a decent amount of attack speed. We'll build then our Rage in order to start "countering" our enemy ADC that has Odysseus' Bow (most of the time) in order to put some pressure and to stack it up every time the opportunity comes. With this Core we are ready to go, building Asi will allow us to be a little bit more safe, having two lifesteal items and at the same time a good amount of Flat Penetration, than we follow with The Executioner in order to get into the Mid-game a bit more prepaired to shred the Squishes. Now, things get interesting, we will have to sell our Hunter's blessing for three different items:

1- Deathbriger
2- Qin's Sais
3- Titan's Bane

In order to chose which one to go, we have to controll the enemy team's progression. Do they have too much Physical protection? Titan's Bane! do they have too many HPs? Qin's Sais! Are they totally squishy? Deathbringer!

Scenario 1: So we went Deathbringer since the enemy team is super squishy, our next step is buying the Elixir of Speed and get ready to sell boots for Qin's Sais and our build is over, we are about to dominate.

Scenario 2: if we took Qin's Sais first, then our next item will be Titan's Bane, as always, buy the Elixir of Speed and sell boots to make space for Titan's Bane, do not worry about your crit percentage, if we have Rage fully stacked, it is a fairly enough amount of crit.

Scenario 3: if we took Titan's Bane first, it's the exact same process as "Scenario 2", only swapping the order with Qin's Sais, again, do not worry about crit, Rage is enough already.

Final Greeting

Chernobog is a pretty strong Late-game God,one of the best indeed in my opinion, his Early-game is not the best and you don't have much kill potentials until you have Ninja Tabi but if played properly and corrected, he is a very strong pick and its worth to go through his "ok" Early-game.

I really hope this guide help you out with this build, hopefully you all can see Chernobog with different eyes, because sometimes i really feel like SPL players and other are sleeping on him.

This build is actually a very good choice for other different Basic Attack Hunter, feel free to try it and give it a shot.

The Hunters that best uses this build are:
Anhur - Apollo - Cernunnos - Chernobog - Chiron -Hacchiman - Hou yi - Jing Wei - Rama - Ullr - Xbalanque

Hopefully you all enjoyed it and will surely see you, in the BattleGrounds of the God.

After all your suggestions, i kept testing the build and Deathbringer seems to work better, and it gives a huge advantage when your support (or the solo laner) has Shogun's Kusari since it boosts up your attack speed around 1.93, and when your N°2 is used, goes up to 2.5, i would recommend Wind Demon if the support goes selfish, in order to have that extra attack speed. Otherwise Deathbringer is the best choice.

These builds need work. Crit build but no Deathbringer? Getting your percentage pen item 5th? Crit with Qins on a hunter that isn’t Jing Wei? Also when you recall to base you really, don’t need to constantly get mana pots.

Sorry if i made it not accurate but it wasn't what i wanted to mean about pots, i meant that is way better to always leave the base having two pots always in your pocket, it helps too much especially in Early and Mid game

Trans helps a lot. I usually rush it on him.

Sounds more like a massive waste of gold constantly buying mana pots.

While Rage does have a good crit chance when fully stacked, it's usually paired with Deathbringer so you'll get more function out of those crits. I would swap Qin's Sais with DB; either go with qin's or crit, don't build both.

I totally agree with you, the only reason why i use a lot Qin's is because lately too many gods use to buy too many items that provide a good amount of extra HP, and to deal that extra damage is actually great. Instead, when i don't buy Titan's bane and i use to buy Wind Demond, i do prefer Wind instead of Deathbringer sometimes because of the extra attack speed that really fits my style, otherwise i totally agree with you, even though i like to use a lot Qin's even if i crit, it fits too much with asi and executioner. Plus i feel that Rage alone is already a great choice, when stacked, like i don't feel i need Deathbringer with this build

Deathbringer is essential on crit builds for +30% more damage whenever you crit. If you are critting 400 dmg w/out it just imagine the DB passive will make it 520. Aside from move speed, I don't think he needs more speed

If you really want WD then drop rage for DB but that'd put your crit chance really low. Chernobog late game w/ DB can burst squishy Gods in 3hits w/ his root + AS combo.
