Going into boots is the worst start for games Only Jungler, Support, Solo get boots not Mid

Not always, there is the tier 2 boots tier 1 lost artifact which is just another start for the starter skip build (i.e. usually to get Sundering late), but the tier 2 restored artifact start is more common for that.

I've seen a smite youtuber go boots mid first and assumed that was the start.

I never really have a problem with it though and it seems good against mid ganks to escape the jungler. I'll edit the start though.

the reason T1 boots start is not really a thing for most roles (pretty much only supports do it to rush boots for early rotations) is because the small amount of stats from T1 items help with clear

At start you get your starter and a T1 item or neither and get a T2 item. On first back you start to build boots before finishing first item unless it's Book of Thoth or Bancroft's Talon.
