Introduction

Kali is a mid to late game god. You need to acknowledge that with each of these two builds. The first build is the go to if you just want something to guide you through. Second build is only for extreme situations where you have multiple characters specifically building to counter you. This would look like hide of the nemean + midguardian mail + some other form of physical protections. There are also substitution you can make found in the items section.

Items

In the build, you should start with assassin's blessing, tier 1 of hastened katana, an hp pot, and a mp pot. Back and get hastened finished as soon as you can. The absolutely essential items in this are Hastened Katana, Stone Cutting Sword (almost all the time), executioner, and qin's sais. Toxic blade can be replaced if you don't need anti-heal with golden blade, atalanta's bow, ichaival, and asi. With golden blade, you get better area damage, atalanta gives slightly more movement due to passive, ichaival give more power with passive, and asi gives lifesteal. All should work OK with good gameplay. Deathbringer is in the same situation.

Skills

Due to the way the skills work, you will be using the two for your camp clear. Also, the 1 is your only true escape. The 2 is maxed out first for fastest possible clear. After this, max out the three. This is a stun and will give bonus damage by way of a power boost after you stun someone. Finally, prioritize the 4. Use this ability whenever you need to secure a kill, especially your target, which is selected in fountain or automatically switches to the nearest god if you kill the target you had. You should initially pick your target as a squishy you think you have the best chance of killing, usually someone who cannot easily get away from you.

Pros / Cons

With each of these builds, you need to be up close to your target. You are extremely squishy, so if you get hard ccd and focused, you will die, quickly. This build, and kali in general have a slow power curve. You won't be much help in early team fights and your jungle secure is kinda slow until you get at least 2 or 3 items online.

Creeping / Jungling

You should be completely focused on farming as fast as possible in the early game, and ward defensively (your side of the map and middle of map). If you get caught out against an early game assassin or other role, you will most likely die without help. Pay attention and look for low, out of position targets to gank, but mostly just rotate and do your jungle camps as fast as possible. When you get stone cutting sword online and you are about level 9 or 10, unless you're behind, you can start asking the team to attack for kills if there is no nearby help. If the game has been even, or if you are ahead, by level 15 you should be relatively safe against most 1v1 matchups.

Team Work

For teamfights, your job is get in the back, kill a squishy as fast as possible, get out. Blink is good for this as well as flanking. DO NOT JUMP FROM THE FRONTLINE OF YOUR TEAM TO THE OTHER TEAMS BACKLINE. If you jump into the other teams backline, any half-witted team is going to cc you and kill you before you can throw a single basic attack.

Conclusion

Hope you like this guide. I've used this build with some success, although I'm not the best player around. It does do well with good positioning and if you can catch your opponents off-guard, you will melt them. Good Luck and Have Fun!

Were I would agree with you if you have someone like the old Hun Batz's passive that provides chance (or another thing with guaranteed vrit I would see a place for it. Even though you have way higher power items for assassins like those.

Not to be rude, I know you've been away awhile, but Hun Batz no longer has a crit passive. NOw he essentially has Hydra's as a passive. Just wanted to let you know.

I have NO idea what you're talking about :p

For real just after I posted this I realised they pretty much removed all crit passives. I only wasn't in tine for the train wifi to stop

Deathbringer by itself is never a good item; if you're going crit, you should have at least two crit items so your chance is ~40-50%, otherwise it's not worth the item slot.

Imagine thinking Deathbringer would be good on Kali lol. Also toxic blade is situational.
