A little backstory...

Fenrir was bound 3 times by humans. First two to no avail, yet the third one was different. Fenrir Sensed that something was amiss. So he decided to make a deal with the gods. He demanded that someone place thier hand upon his mouth and if this next binding was magical he would eat said hand. Tyr the Lawgiver foolishly decided to take Fenrir up on his deal. As the chain was placed upon Fenrir, He flew into a rage as he could not break the chain and devoured Tyr's hand.

It is not known how Fenrir has broken out of his chains, but he is out for revenge. And we are here to exact that revenge. Fenrir is by far my favorite god in Smite. He has insane burst damage, Hes pretty fast and he can secure multiple kills at a time. Once you learn a couple of Techniques it should become pretty easy to take people out.

So Without Further adieu, Lets go in depth with my Favoite god, Fenrir-The Unbound.

The good and the bad!

For those new to smite, Fenrir is a Physical melee Assassin, meaning that his basic attacks are close range and they do physical damage. His assassin role means that he can easily come in snatch a kill and get out. Although this is not always the case due to some disadvantages. Here are some pros and cons about Fenrir.

Pros

  • Massive burst damage
  • Good movement/attack speed
  • Great Kill Secure capabilities
  • Not easily threatened
  • Decent Sustain

Cons

  • Low health and defense
  • Not great for soloing lanes
  • Counterd easily by tanky gods
  • Can be killed easily if ganked

Items that I use.

Lets go over the items we will be using in this guide .

Warrior Tabi

Pretty basic item here. Giving Fenrir 30+ Physical Power and 9%+ Attack speed with a 18%+ movement speed and +15 Physical Pen. Some may say that Ninja Tabi Is much more useful but its a matter of preference between physical pen and cooldown reduction.

Soul Eater

Soul Eater is a Lifesteal Item that adds 15% life steal to Fenrir's basic attacks.
It also adds a 10% attack speed boost and +300 health. Its AURA gives allied gods within a 70 feet radius +10 Physical Power and +10% physical Lifesteal. This lifesteal upgrade does stack with his Seething Howl ability for added lifesteal.

The Executioner

The executioner gives you a power boost of +30 and a attack speed boost of +20%. It also reduces the attackee's physical protection by 7% and a added 5 points with a total of 3 stacks. Its a really good item to get early on

Fenrir's skillset

Ok lets go over some of his skills.

Unbound Runes

Fenrir's passive is pretty simple. Each Time Fenrir lands a basic attack, he gains a rune. At a max of 5 runes one of his Skills gains an additional effect. If an Enemy god is killed near Fenrir, His runes immediately go to max. So it can be used in combos very well.

Unchained

Fenrir leaps at an enemy god doing a considerate ammount of damage +80% of his physical Power. At full runes this skill will stun enemy Gods. If this skill hits a god its cool down is halved so that's pretty nice.

Seething Howl

Fenrir Howls to the sky, empowering himself with a buff giving him a physical power boost, along with a lifesteal buff. At full runes this buff is increased by 50%.

Brutalize

Fenrir pounces the area of effect. If there is a enemy there he continues to attack 4 more times, his power increasing everytime. At full runes this skill does 75% of the damage is dealt to all enemies around Fenrir at the time.

Ragnarok

This is Fenrir's Ultimate. Ragnarok comes and increases Fenrir's size, movement speed and he is immune to crowd control. He does physical damage, but its not over yet. He carries his target along with him for the duration of the ultimate then drops him in place. At full runes the protections he gains are doubled. So that's always fun.

Laning as Fenrir

So when I join a game where i'm not playing Fenrir, and someone else on my team is its pains me to see them bad at laning, so i'm going to give a few tips on how to lane as Fenrir!

2v2 Laning

This is the most common type of laning in smite so it's best to start here. When having a laning against two people its always good to have both of them in sights at all times. As soon as one tries to dip into the jungle or retreat to recall, that's when you attack with Unchained so they won't escape. And if you have it use Ragnarok to bring them back into lane, perferably closer to your tower.
Once you do this their lane partner is obviously not gonna let this happen so they will try to jump into it. Normally you would focus the weakest one, but in this case you want to focus the biggest threat. Once you take him out, you will have full runes so it's time to take out that escaping link with Unchained and stun them so they cant get away. If its on cool down, then use Brutalize to secure the kill.

1v2 Laning

Although very uncommon, Fenrir can be left alone to fend for himself against two opponents. This is probably the most dangerous situation for Fenrir, considering he doesn't fare well against huge bursts of damage. So it's best to play it defensive and use Seething Howl to keep your health up and taking out minions. If the enemies start to get frisky, You should use Ragnarok at four runes, and take the enemy with the lowest HP into tower, drop him, land a hit and use full runes Unchained to keep them within tower range for free feed. A fed Fenrir, is a good Fenrir (as long as its on your team)!

1v1 Laning

This is the biggest mistake an enemy can make. Fenrir is easily one of the worst gods to 1v1 against. If you do find yourself in this situation its pretty easy to take someone out. Its really a game of baiting out the escape abilities.

You should initiate with Unchained (full runes or not). They will expect you to follow up with Ragnarok, so they will use their escape (i.e. Neith's Backflip). Although sad for them, they will still be within range of your Brutalize skill. So use this to close the gap and do some damage while your at it, then follow up with Ragnarok. Seeing as they exhausted their escape they cant do anything but let it happen now! Take them back as far as possible and quickly take them out.

1v(greater than) 2

Fenrir is good, but he's no match when out numbered by smart players. In an even where your lane partner is gone, and you are facing up to 3 opponents at once, its best to hug tower and defend unless you are 100% positive that you can take them out. On the chance where they get super cocky and attempt to tower dive, you stun them with full runes Unchained and follow up with a quick Ragnarok to keep them inside tower range to take massive damage and scare off the others. If they don't leave then you might be in a bit of trouble. In which case, you pop your Seething Howl and keep health gain up. Sooner or later your lane partner should return and you shouldn't have too much of a problem keeping them off.

Team Fights

Team fights are a little tricky. Its a pretty simple tactic but if done incorrectly can screw over the entire fight. You will want to be at full runes for this, so before you go to the fight make sure you have full runes off of fury farm. Now that you are there you are going to want to get your focus and as many other people into your Unchained as possible so you can stun him/her and everyone else who tries to get in the way. If you kill one this part will become a lot easier, but if you don't your going to want to stack up runes..
Once you have full runes, attack with Brutalize so you can attack multiple gods at once, and if your focus is still alive, that's when you Ragnarok and take him to the team. This most likely loses the kill for you but no big.

Team up with the Wolf!

There are some key elements to doing well with a good Fenrir as a teammate. Im just going to cover a few.

1. Opportunity

To get an early lead at the beginning of the game, you need to help seize opportunity as soon as you see it. If an enemy god is below 30% its best to go in for an all out attack. Its best to do this by hitting the enemy with some sort of crowd control giving Fenrir the perfect chance to land a Unchained or Brutalize. Doing this will keep you ahead in your lane and keeping Fenrir fed.

2.Sustain

Late game Fenrir's lifesteal capabilities with Seething Howl are mad powerful, but early game not so much. If you are laning with a Fenrir keep sure to have some abilities that will keep him alive or take some hits for him. A good way to do this (if you are a physical god) to get the item Soul Eater for the lifesteal aura.

3.Jungle Assassination

When you see a jungle Fenrir going to gank an enemy in your lane you're going to want to wait to engage the enemy. Allow Fenrir to initiate the attack with Unchained then follow up with any type of stun/root to keep the enemy from escaping. In most cases, the enemy will either accept the death, or use Blink to get away. In the case of them trying to get away cast a Weakening Curse and or Heavenly Agility to make sure he doesn't. In worst case Scenario Fenrir will be forced to use Ragnarok to take him out.

Tis the end!

Well that's all I have for you. If you guide happened to help you go ahead and give it an up vote, and if there is something I missed, forgot to mention, or just plain didn't know, be sure to let me know with a comment. Either way feedback is highly appreciated! Anyways good luck to all of you and most importantly remember to have fun!
