Notes Pendulum of Ages helps Nu Wa on having Clay Soldiers available for both self-defense and offense. This item provides 20% Cooldown Reduction, ensuring your soldiers and your global ultimate are available much more frequently to pressure the map.

Spear of Desolation Provides great amount of intelligence, which is perfect for shredding enemy carries. Its passive—reducing cooldowns on kills or assists—is incredible for Nu Wa because her ultimate often secures global assists, allowing you to reset your combo quickly during a fight.

Book of Thoth helps Nu Wa as she consumes a large amount of mana by constantly summoning minions and using her fog. This item converts your total mana into a massive Intelligence spike, making your Clay Soldiers + Shining Metal explosion hit significantly harder in the mid-game.

Soul Gem has incredible synergy with Nu Wa’s Ultimate. When you have 4 stacks, using your ultimate will deal bonus damage to all 5 enemies and heal your entire team simultaneously, regardless of where they are on the map.

Rod of Tahuti its essential for every mages as it increases on a 25% your amount of intelligence creating a power spike for a midlaner.

Obsidian Shardits a late-game necessity. While your Clay Soldiers already give you some pen, the 35% Penetration ensures that Nu Wa can delete even the tankiest Guardians with a single well-timed explosion.

Soul Reaver as Nu Wa’s ultimate is guaranteed to hit every enemy, this item will apply maximum health percentage damage to all 5 opponents at once. This effectively softens the entire enemy team before a major team fight begins.

God Aspect De-Activated

Aspect of Shining Mist

Mysterious Fog now travels a short distance before stopping but allows you to fire Basic Attacks within it and remain Stealthed. Shining Metal has reduced Scaling while Fire Shards now scales with Basic Attack Power, can Critically Strike, and procs Basic Attack Item Effects. Additionally Strength of Fire also provides Attack Speed.

Nu Wa's Skill Order Notes Fire Shards: Always upgrade your ultimate whenever it is available. Increasing its rank boosts the base damage dealt to all five enemy gods, which is essential for securing global kills and proccing items like Soul Gem or Soul Reaver.

Shining Metal: This is your primary damage and waveclear tool. Upgrading this first increases the damage of the projectile itself and, more importantly, the explosion damage when it shatters your Clay Soldiers.

Clay Soldiers: Upgrade this second. While the soldiers themselves deal minor damage, leveling this ability increases the amount of flat penetration you get. Besides, at max level you get an extra soldier.

Mysterious Fog: This should be leveled last. While it provides great utility, movement speed, and stealth, its damage is less consistent than your soldiers' explosion combo. It is primarily used for repositioning or helping allies escape ganks.

Introduction

Hi, my name is Ragna and I started playing Smite 1 on PC in 2021. I started playing in little community tournaments and after a lot of training and work I manage to play professional tournaments on Atlanta as the Smite Content Cup in 2024 and SCC during 2023.

Now, in Smite 2 I have reached Deity every single split and I have competed in tournaments like Smite Vegas Qualifiers (ending in 5th position of EU) and right now Smite Prime, so Im always getting updated about the best metas on the game.

Apart from that I have a Twitch channel Ragna_smite where we play Smite 2 every single day and we do coaching for the subs to help them to improve on Smite 2, answering questions, talking about the game, etc.

Hope you find this guide as a good starting point for the midlane and helps you improve your Janus skills and knowledge.

Here are my socials:

Abilities

Nu Wa's Abilities

Passive - Strength Of Wood

Every 12s, your next Basic Attack will Root all targets hit. Damaging an enemy with a Basic Attack reduces this cooldown by 1s.

This is your most reliable self-peel. You can save your charged shot to stop a diving Thor or Fenrir or prepare a combo.

Ability 1 - Mysterious Fog

Sends out a cloud of fog that damages enemies and hides allies. It grants you the Water Crystal, increasing your movement speed.

The fog now allows you to fire Basic Attacks while remaining Stealthed. Use this to harass enemies from safety or to reposition while your passive root recharges.

Ability 2 - Clay Soldiers

Conjures soldiers that dash at enemies and gives you flat penetration. This grants the Earth Crystal, providing you with extra Penetration.

The soldiers' falt penetration is essential for your burst. Summon them first to increase your damage before using your Shining Metal for the explosion.
Ability 3 - Shining Metal

Launches metal that stuns enemies upon hitting a soldier. This grants the Metal Crystal, making your Basic Attacks deal area damage.

Because your Metal Crystal makes your autos hit in an area, you can combine this with your Passive Root to root multiple enemies at once if they are grouped up.

Ultimate - Fire Shards

Nu Wa flies up and launches fire shards at all enemy gods. This grants the Fire Crystal, increasing your basic attack range and speed.

Use this for global vision or to finish low-health enemies. The Fire Crystal allows you to stay at a safer distance while hitting enemies after you land. You can use this ability as well to scape from a big CC ability from and enemy.

Example Combos

The Burst Stun: Clay Soldiers -> Shining Metal -> Basic Attack (Root).

To One-Shot: Clay Soldiers -> Shining Metal -> Basic Attack (Root) -> Mysterious Fog -> Fire Shards.

To Scape: Mysterious Fog -> Clay Soldiers -> Shining Metal -> Basic Attack (Passive Root)

How to play Nu Wa

Gameplay Start / Early Game
  • Push your first wave efficiently by using Shining Metal to hit the entire line of minions.

  • Head to your side camps with your jungler to secure farm; use your Strength Of Wood root on the large jungle monsters to take zero damage while clearing.

  • Return to lane to push the next wave and then coordinate with your jungler to contest neutral buffs; use Clay Soldiers to annoy enemies on jungle fights.

  • At this stage, Nu Wa is vulnerable because she lacks a dash; prioritize efficient farming and only commit to a fight if your passive root is ready.

  • Use Mysterious Fog to hide your movement from enemy wards and save your Fire Shards to reveal the enemy jungler if they go missing or to help to kill an enemy from a sidelane.

Mid Game:

  • You enter the mid-game once you have completed core items like Book of Thoth and Spear of Desolation, which significantly boost the explosion damage of your soldiers.

  • Maintain a high farm rate by using the movement speed from the Water Crystal (granted by Mysterious Fog) to rotate quickly between mid and jungle camps.

  • Look for rotation opportunities to the sidelanes; use your ultimate Fire Shards to weaken enemies for your teammates or to finish off targets that escaped with low health.

  • Focus on landing your stun combo: Clay Soldiers into Shining Metal. The extra penetration from your soldiers makes this combo lethal against squishy hunters and mages.

Late Game:

  • In the late game, Nu Wa becomes a global threat. With Soul Gem and Soul Reaver, your ultimate can chunk the entire enemy team's health from anywhere on the map.

  • Your primary goals in teamfights are:
    • Splitting the enemy focus by using Clay Soldiers to force them to waste abilities on AI minions.
    • Using the ultime will make teamfights easier for your team as enemies will probably have to back or fight with much more less hp than your team.

  • Always position yourself near your support; while you can hide in Mysterious Fog, high-mobility assassins like Thor can still find you, so stay close to your peel.

  • During Fire Giant dances, use your ultimate to provide total vision of the enemy team, preventing them from sneaking a steal or setting up an ambush.

  • If the enemy is pulling the Fire Giant, use Fire Shards to stay untargetable in the air while waiting for the perfect moment to land and steal with Shining Metal.

  • When sieging Phoenixes, use Clay Soldiers to tank the tower shots for a few seconds, allowing your team to dive or deal damage to the structure without taking aggro.

  • Mastering the management of your Crystals and timing your passive root will distinguish you as a top-tier Nu Wa player.

How to ward as a midlaner

Early/Mid Game

Here you can see the best spots to ward as a Midlaner.

These wards will help you to be safe during the first instances of the game, giving you the information about if your getting ganked from the solo or duo side.

Very Passive Situation

These wards will help you recover if you come from a bad spot i which maybe you are getting ganked a lot or invaded

Late Game

These wards are use to help your team on teamfight situations or fire gigant pulls, there are a lot of possibilities take those ones who you consider that suits the best to your game situation.

Siege / Defense Phoenix

For this situation there are only two main spots to have a ward, as you can see them rotating from one lane to the others, maybe you could even put one at lane to see if minions are approaching the phoenix but it isn't that important as knowing which lane they are going to siege.

As with that information you could be able to be on the right position before your enemies giving you a great advantage for the teamfight.

Regardless of the role, wards are the most important consumable you can buy, so don't forget to buy two wards after each back!
