Notes Pendulum of Ages is essential because it offers some of the highest Cooldown Reduction (CDR) in the game. Its passive grants additional Intelligence based on your current mana percentage, which synergizes perfectly with Book of Thoth

Book of Thoth is the heart of your scaling. By converting your maximum mana into Intelligence, it ensures your damage grows exponentially as the match progresses.

Gem of Focus this item allows you to move faster every time you cast a spell. For Hecate, who needs constant repositioning, the extra movement speed after using a combo is vital.

Spear of Desolation its excellent for snowballing early leads. It provides solid itelligence stats (ideal against squishy targets) and its passive reduces your remaining cooldowns upon getting a kill or assist, allowing you to chain abilities in long fights.

Rod of Tahuti its the highest power spike in the game. Its passive ensures 25% additional intelligence, turning your abilities into high damage skills.

Obsidian Shard its the mandatory against tanks, its 35% Penetration, ensures that the enemy Solo and Support cannot ignore your damage despite their protections.

Soul Reaver its the ultimate "Tank Shredder". Its passive deals bonus percentage damage based on the enemy's maximum health, making it perfect against high-HP deities.

God Aspect De-Activated

Aspect of Ruin

Spell Eater can no longer be refired but instead reduces enemy ability damage in an area. Additionally, each time an enemy ability is cast a projectile lands and explodes at their location. Its Cooldown is increased.

Hecate's Skill Order Notes For the early game we upgrade Spell Eater to have a decent push, after 3 ticks we upgrade Repel Magic as its our easiest way to deal damage, with our teammates.

Introduction

Hi, my name is Ragna and I started playing Smite 1 on PC in 2021. I started playing in little community tournaments and after a lot of training and work I manage to play professional tournaments on Atlanta as the Smite Content Cup in 2024.

Now, in Smite 2 I have reached Deity every single split and I have competed in tournaments like Smite Vegas Qualifiers (ending in 5th position of EU) and right now Smite Prime, so Im always getting updated about the best metas on the game.

Apart from that I have a Twitch channel Ragna_smite where we play Smite 2 every single day and we do coaching for the subs to help them to improve on Smite 2, answering questions, talking about the game, etc.

Hope you find this guide as a good starting point for the midlane and helps you improve your Janus skills and knowledge.

Abilities

Hecate's Abilities

Passive - Mythic Ritual

Hecate can interact with allied structures or gods who recently achieved a kill to grant them a buff.

In the early game, use your passive on your Mid Tower to grant it health regeneration, making it much harder for the enemy to push you out.
Ability 1 - Triplicate Form

This is your main poke and waveclear tool. It alternates between Power (damage/mark) and Hex (Mesmerize) forms.

Watch the icon carefully; use the Power form for clearing minions and the Hex form to interrupt enemy channels or stop a Jungler from diving you.
Ability 2 - Spell Eater

Deploys a sigil that charges up as abilities are cast nearby, dealing massive damage upon detonation.

Place this in the center of a chaotic team fight or on top of an objective like Gold Fury. Even if it isn't fully charged, detonate it if the enemy is about to leave the area.
Ability 3 - Repel Magic

Provides a magical shield and movement speed to yourself or an ally, while pulsing damage to nearby enemies.

Don't just use this on yourself. Cast it on your Jungler or Solo laner as they initiate; the extra speed helps them stick to targets while the shield absorbs the enemy's initial burst.
Ultimate - Open The Gates

Hecate opens two portals that stun enemies and allow allies to travel between them.

Use this to split the enemy team. If you hit enemy tanks with this, you can effectively remove them from the fight for several seconds. It is also your best tool for safely traversing walls to escape ganks.

Example Combos

Basic Poke: Spell Eater -> Triplicate Form (Power)

Full Lockdown: Open The Gates -> Spell Eater -> Triplicate Form (Power)

Safe Escape: Repel Magic -> Open The Gates (through a wall)

How to play Hecate

Gameplay Start / Early Game
  • Push your first wave as fast as possible using your Triplicate Form to clear the front minions.

  • Head to your side camps with your jungler to secure farm; don't forget to use your Mythic Ritual on your tower or allies to keep the momentum going.

  • Return to lane to push the next wave and then coordinate with your jungler to contest neutral buffs.

  • At this stage, Hecate is vulnerable due to a lack of mobility, so prioritize efficient farming and safety over risky kills.

  • Use Repel Magic to protect yourself from early ganks and save your Open The Gates strictly for escaping through walls until you reach the mid-game.
Mid Game:
  • You enter the mid-game once you have completed 3 core items, such as Book of Thoth and Spear of Desolation, giving you enough Intelligence to threaten backline carries.

  • Maintain a high farm rate by using the movement speed from Repel Magic to rotate between lane and jungle camps.

  • Look for rotation opportunities using Open The Gates to create unconventional gank paths or to pull over-extended enemies into your team.

  • Focus on creating "superiority situations" by using your portals to bring your jungler into fights faster than the enemy expects.
Late Game:
  • In the late game, Hecate becomes a powerhouse of area denial and utility, capable of massive damage with her Spell Eater in grouped fights.

  • Your primary goals in teamfights are:
  • Always position yourself near terrain; Hecate is most effective when she can use Open The Gates to bypass walls for safety.

  • During Fire Giant dances, use Spell Eater to zone out the enemy jungler and prevent them from entering the pit.

  • If the enemy is pulling the Fire Giant, use the stun and displacement from Open The Gates to disrupt their secure and potentially steal the objective.

  • When sieging or defending Phoenixes, place your Spell Eater sigil directly on the objective path to force enemy carries to back off or take massive damage.

  • Mastering the timing of your portals and the "Hex" vs "Power" forms of your Triplicate Form will distinguish you as a top-tier Hecate player.

How to ward as a Midlaner

Early/Mid Game

Here you can see the best spots to ward as a Midlaner.

These wards will help you to be safe during the first instances of the game, giving you the information about if your getting ganked from the solo or duo side.

Very Passive Situation

These wards will help you recover if you come from a bad spot i which maybe you are getting ganked a lot or invaded

Late Game

These wards are use to help your team on teamfight situations or fire gigant pulls, there are a lot of possibilities take those ones who you consider that suits the best to your game situation.

Siege / Defense Phoenix

For this situation there are only two main spots to have a ward, as you can see them rotating from one lane to the others, maybe you could even put one at lane to see if minions are approaching the phoenix but it isn't that important as knowing which lane they are going to siege.

As with that information you could be able to be on the right position before your enemies giving you a great advantage for the teamfight.

Regardless of the role, wards are the most important consumable you can buy, so don't forget to buy two wards after each back!
