By trying out first, do you mean purchasing with accumulated favor or literally just trying out first? On the same note, do you have the ultimate god pack?

If you mainly play Arena, I'd suggest playing some of the magi - they're the best at clearing waves of minions, so they'll help you get used to the game mechanics while also providing strong team-wide burst. Specifically Ao Kuang would probably be the best, followed by Agni and maybe Poseidon and Zeus.

And of course, Hel is the best god in Smite. ;)
