This Tyr is built to be an assassin. As most people know, Tyr was heavily nerfed with all other warriors a few patches ago. He now is in the bottom 15 out of 55 gods in all categories ( bottom 5 in at least 2 categories). The main reason is because of his passive, damage, sustain, and crowd control nerfs.
Tyr's passive no longer provides a 1s limit on roots and cripples. His damage was reduced in two ways, lower attack speed gain per level and lower base damage on his Power Cleave, which was paired with an increase in scaling based on physical power. Power Cleave's heal was nerfed to a puny amount, compared to his previous heal. Tyr can also no longer chain CC someone after they fall the ground after the offensive fearless knock up combo.
Usually you will see Warrior's Tabi, Jotunn's Wrath being Tyr's core build. And if you rush Jotunn's you can dish off devastating damage early, but once you reach mid-late game, your damage usually can be ignored. With a Transcendence rush, you received all the known benefits of Transcendence -- lots of mana, good mana regeneration, amazing physical power; all things you couldn't ask for any less as a jungler. Most people dislike the item because of the poor early game it provides, but a 450 gold potion remedies most of that. Starting the game with 30 physical power provides a lot of damage opportunity on enemies and jungle camps alike. Because you are not purchasing a starter item, you have 350 gold to put towards your Transcendence (800-450=350). That way, you don't have to wait for 800 gold that would have been spend on a starter item to even start Transcendence.
Because of the aforementioned increase in scaling based on physical power for Power Cleave, Transcendence’s damage scales very well with Power Cleave and Fearless, which is technically a 100% scaling in offensive stance.
All in all, Tyr is back. The damage and CC is to be feared by many.
Because you have opted for a Potion of Physical Might, playing safe is generally a good idea. You should only engage on a 2v1 in your favor and never fight 1v2. Dying is pretty devastating, but you can come back with good damage once your third item is finished.
The first game I tried this, we got first blood in solo lane. Then I rotated to mid, and easily took out the unsuspecting mage. 2 kills in the first 3 minutes is amazing! If the enemy has good CC, I would be very safe in the solo lane, while helping the solo'er.
After your first back, chances are you aren't going to have enough for advancing Transcendence. Thus, picking up blink is often a great idea. Blink is a very good item to have on Tyr as you can take all unwarded opponents with great surprise. Some mana potions and your choice of health potions or wards would also be fitting.
Make sure you are taking the mid camps at around 3 minutes, and don't get out of position, especially if they have an insta-kill mage like Poseidon.
Finishing Transcendence is a must, and you can then move onto Warrior's Tabi. Leaching off of lanes is important, as without Bumba's Mask, your teammates will be leaching jungle gold from you. Once you have Transcendence, the small furies are a great way to stack. You can also take 1-3 creeps from any given lane.
In the mid game, you are looking to take out enemies and of course continue to farm. Usually when ganking, you want to make sure your teammate has at least one spell off cooldown for damage. If you haven't gotten behind, usually a Blink, Fearless, into Power Cleave combo with your teammate's main damage spell and ultimate should usually finish anyone off.
I didn't mention in the early game section about cooldowns, but before you have Jotunn's online, you cooldowns are ridiculously long. Usually you only have one chance to chain CC/damage them, so if you aren't familiar with Tyr, remember you will get better at landing skills with practice.
Now I'll explain my rationale behind the skill leveling. Basically, your Fearless (1) is the obvious damage spell you have. So making that a priority is huge. If they don't have any mobility, skipping a point in your ult is also an option. But after that, now (after the warrior nerf) your Power Cleave (2) is heavily reliant on Physical Power scaling for damage and gives very little healing. So Transcendence will contribute more to the damage than actually leveling it. For that reason, leveling your Stance Change (3) for your passive power and protections is wise. Leveling your 3 makes your 1 hit harder, but your 2 will hit slightly less because of the lower base damage, none-the-less it will scale with the passive power. Another huge benifit of leveling your 3 is it " refreshes the cooldown on Fearless and Power Cleave," meaing at max level it reduces Fearless's cooldown by 4s. After that, it doesn't really matter if your 2 or ultamate is leveled. Your 1 will melt anyone. On a side note, using your 2 vanilla (without 1 or Fearless) is not wise. It wastes mana and does only slightly more damage then an auto-attack. In fact, the third auto-attack in your progression will do more damage than a Power Cleave. So while in defensive stance, only use Power Cleave for an extended range auto-attack, multi-target damage, and heal. The offensive Power Cleave can be used to chain CC your target or do multi-target damage. Usually at a jungle camp, I will only Fearless, then auto attack the rest of the time, making sure my third auto-attack is on the large minion.
After you finish Transcendence, Warrior Tabi, Jotunn's Wrath, and Shifter's Shield, you actually have a very dynamic choice to make. Are you getting bursted hard by people? Or are you able to basically insta-kill anyone with your Blink-1-2-3-1-2-4 + scattered auto-attacks combo? If you are having trouble dodging enemy attacks, maybe building slightly bruiser for the late game would be wise. If the enemy doesn't quickly defeat you, going more damage is more fun. And the build I have provided is basically a glass cannon, "Player Kill" build.
The other options for late game follows like this:
Item 5 Titan's Bane Item 6 Hydra's Lament
or
Item 5 Runeforged Hammer Item 6 Stone of Gaia
or
Item 5 Titan's Bane Item 6 Hide of the Urchin
The first listed final two items is for full burst. Second, much more survivable, with less damage. And the final, a good blend between damage and tankiness.
If you are doing well mid game and would like a safe late game, the third option is probably best. The second is more for a "I die each time I go 1v3" type situation. The first is "YOLO, Geb Shield, Gunna Get a Penta" build that wrecks any squishy
Now this is the fun part. You are not invincible, as you are more of an assassin, so taking crits or burst from a hunter or mage will hurt. But hitting them with your combo should shave 50% of their health. Then either juke around waiting for cooldowns, or try to hit them with your defensive stuff. If they are a mage, auto-attacks ruin them. Because a hunter has lifesteal, juking might be a better option then laying the auto-attack damage down. A mage on the other hand only has their spells, and you are tankier than them while doing more spell damage (unless they are glass cannon, then they will hurt, but you still do 75% of what they do because they have no defenses) and auto-attack damage.
You might be able to 1v2, unless they have any sustain, like Aphrodite or Chang'e. A Hel should die quickly against you, unless they are good, but then you need to guarantee your auto-attacks.
Just like any character, don't get caught out. And during a fight, you can usually take some focus. If they do focus you, you teammates should easily clean up as you will nuke them while you are blown up yourself.
If you are new to Tyr, here are some tips for you:
I hope you enjoyed my guide on Tyr. I might have rambled on in a few parts, but I enjoyed it and hope that you enjoyed it too.
I challenge you to try a few games with this build, because you might have a bad game the only time you try it. I once faced an Ares, Cupid, and Poseidon in one game. The cripples ruins 60% of Tyr's damage, so take care and hope your Tyrs will be washed away.
Good luck, and Have Fun!
