Description of this sick guide

Have you ever wondered who the true god of the battleground is? Many fopdoodles would probably point at Zeus as the god of gods, but don't let yourself be tricked into such filth, for that hairy hobbo is nowhere near that rank. The answer to this question, my comr8s of Smite, relies deep in the forest, where the rats roam free and the rabbitrs aren't enslaved by psychotic moon ladies. A place away from the ultimate monster who everything slams (Hercul*s). A place ruled by Sylvanus, god of burst. Right inside the deepest tree of the forest, the Handsome Tree, lives a tiny man known as Sylvanus, you know who I am talking about don't you? Yet little you knew he's able to destroy everything you love.

Introduction - First Root of Burst - Limitations of Sylvanus

Greetings, dear comr8 of the battleground. So now that you have decided to learn how to play the ultimate god of them all it's time to see what his limitations are:

None. Sylvanus is the god of gods, the god of burst, he doesn't know about limits, his roots reach so far they can get into Uranus. As such, this god can be played in ABSOLUTELY EVERY POSITION OF THE CONQUEST MAP. And now you will be able to learn how to build and play him properly in each of them thanks to this humble servant, who has the honour to once have been the second best Sylvanus in the world in conquest ranked, as solo laner.

The Solo Lane and Hercul*s - Second Root of Burst

So let's get started with the first of the multifarious affairs Sylvanus can take care off. Here we will speak about the solo lane, where the evil presence of Hercul*s is strong and must be treated carefully. However, if we play Sylvanus correctly, not even the feared mass of horror and dispair will be a problem to us, the roots of the god of burst can penetrate every single one of his orifices until no air can go into him. But let's move to the technical matters.

Lots of people will think Sylvanus can be a weak choice agaisnt other solo laners and will doubt you. These are mere fustylugs who are not capable of understanding the true power of this god, ignore them. Sylvanus can easily win his solo lane early and mid game thanks to these simple facts:

  • His basic attacks will literally HUMILIATE your enemy, they will kill those filthy minions way quicker thanks to its area and being ranged will give you an important advantage. In the ADC guide you will be able to see how these balls of PURE BURST turn from humiliating your enemy to ABSOLUTELY DESTROYING HIM. But that's a matter for later.
  • Against warriors, Nature's protection and Verdant growth will help towards your ranged advantage. If they dare to try and attack you, you will be able to root them and burst them before they even reach you. Besides, Verdant growth can also be used as a sneaky mana source that will make the already confused warrior break in tears as your mana rises as high as your chances to win the lane.
  • If his mad ability to clear the lane and keep distance from the scary warrior wasn't enough, the god of gods is also able to heal his omnipotent self and damage your enemy per ticks of pure burst with Wisps. Back in the good old days of Smite this ability would also affect the pesky minions but Hi-Rez Studios, out of blatant fear towards this madman, decided to nerf this feature. Sooner or later they will regret it.
  • In case you don't want to make the enemy warrior go through such suffering and decide to play defensively, this would also suit Sylvanus. Nature's grasp will be your most useful tool in this case, making you able to pull him right under your tower, root him and burst him until he dies or has to run away crying.
  • Lastly, the strongest ability of the entire game, Sylvanus' Wrath of Terra will violently extract your enemy's heart and soul in what is the purest burst of the Battleground of the Gods. Combined with your pull and your 2 (two) roots will make the perfect combo to end the cursed warrior's existence.
  • Bear in mind as well that Sylvanus is a sneaky madman and, as such, he is immune to ganks from poisonous junglers, 8/8 you will either get away or burst both enemies.

Now, regarding the build, the truth is there is no actual build capable of concentrating all the power of this god, so what I will display now are mundane attempts to resemble Sylvanus' burst. It is also true, therefore, that any kind of build would suit this god, which is why he can be played in every position of the game, so you can freely buy the items you like depending on the attitude you seek and the enemy you're facing. I'll show mere examples.

This would be a good build against a physical solo laner, the most common and profitable situation for Sylvanus. The penetration boots will give you a nice early damage that the enemy warrior won't be able to deal with. Since even the strongest of bursts needs some defence, the Lotus Crown and the Breastplate of Valor should be about enough, providing good cooldown reduction as well. The Void Stone will come handy against the naive mages who try to step on your way to victory and the Urchin will solidify your protections if your team can keep up with your insane power. Soul Reaver tops your burst, no need to say more.

Watch out though, if you have the misfortune of facing evil himself, Hercul*s, there is nothing you can do other than outbursting him to death. In order to do that, this could be a good build:
As I said before, this god allows your creativity to build freely and no one expects Sylvanus' power in the solo lane. Your enemy will often underestimate your burst and regret it a few seconds after, only a small portion of players aren't foolish and fear you, but even then you'll pull them to their very death. Make Sylvanus solo meta, for it is broken, or don't, for he might be nerfed once everyone realises about this absolute potence.

That's all I should say about this beast in the solo lane for now, if you would like to see how the god of gods should be played in the rest of positions you could support this guide, though I will probably make more guides regardless of the support because I am a bored lad. As soon as I can I would also want to provide proof of Sylvanus' power with screenshots of my games, but one thing at a time. Any doubt or comments on the beast are very much welcome, unlike Hercul*s.

These are not good builds for solo lane. The only damage item you will need as Sylvanus is possibly a Void Stone. More damage is not necessary unless playing an emergency/unconventional pick like a Sylvanus mid in which case I would pick Spear of the Magus as a damage option.

For example a Sylvanus Mid could be: Shoes of the Magi, Void Stone, Warlock's Staff, Spear of the Magus, Mantle of Discord, Soul Reaver. Again though, Sylvanus shouldn't be played in Mid role but I gave a build for it.

I wouldn't use any god in solo who didn't have a decent escape. Sylvanus is a beast in support because he can easily set up kills for his ADC. He doesn't do so well when he's by himself for most of the game.

Loved the guide! Sylvanus is my favorite Guardian by far, will definetly try this out later. I'll be waiting for your other guides (created this account just to comment).
Best wishes.
