You can go spear of the magus if you want, I like the extra cooldowns even though chronos pendant is coming up.
This is your fill item, really up to you and the situation you are in. You can go the defensice route if your getting bullied. I 99% of the time go a damage item.
Divine ruin or obsidian shard should be your last item after selling mages blessing
You don't have to buy all these items in the same order. If you have a lifesteal heavy team and your support hasn't or for some reason won't buy pestilence then getting divine ruin earlier may be the smart play. Trading off Rod for a defense item may also be the play.
Baron has a pretty solid kit under his belt if you know how to use all his abilities properly. Hitting enemies with your 3-2-1 combo is your best way of dealing the most damage. Wrap them up(3), lifesteal them with your AOE(2), then laser them down(1). Pretty simple combo but you gotta hit your wrap. Your AOE(2) also the ability to heal allies nearby. Use this to your advantage if you have an ally under attack who is retreating towards you. Hit em with that nasty slapper to give your buddy some much needed health. ( They will thank you, trust me). Your Ult is where the real fun begins. You can use your ULT to start fights for your team or to clean up fights. The beauty of your SUCCY SUCC is that you do great damage in a wide area and then when an enemy is succcd all the way to your coffin they are stunned. Try to deal as much damage as possible to as many enemies as possible before "succ"ing the squishies all the way to your coffin. Also in case you didnt know his ULT goes through walls so if someone is trying to make an escape around a corner you can stop them. Make sure your keeping track of who has beads and who has burned beads. Waisting your ULT can be very frustrating!! Now get out there and Succ some dudes!

Since Baron doesn't have any real mobility, building him with protection and health items like Kriega pointed out is a good idea unless your tank is really, really good at protecting you or the enemy team is full of idiots who don't target you.
