First of all i would like to point out that i in no way claim to be a professional. I only intend to share with you what works for me. I have a Mastery X Hel and this is the experience i have developed over time playing Hel.
This Guide is intended for 3v3 mainly
As you can see then i have two builds. One for when the enemy team has a variation of players that has alot of Crowd Control Effects. And One for when the Enemy team lacks Crowd Control Effects.
As you have probably noticed by now. Then the only difference between those two builds are Magi's Blessing and
.
The main thing im trying to establish with this build is giving Hel survivability through Health. Many people say that you need to build like a tank and that is to some extend correct but there is not many ithems to be found that contains both Magical Power and protection. So if ya build her like a traditional tank then you will end up with a Hel that might take some beating but her spells partially be useless due to lack of Magical Power. Therefore we have to go for the second best thing instead of protections which is Health. There is alot of ithems giving you both Health and Magical Power.
Build (Enemy Team Has Alot of CC's)
Hel is a God whose movability sucks big time. therefore when you engage a fight with Hel then you better be positive that you can win this fight because the chances of you fleeing from this fight is minimal.
Hel's worse nightmare is getting stunned. That is because due to her lacking movability then she has no quick get away when the stun passes. therefore in many cases when the enemy team is targeting her and they succeed in stunning her then she dies. Therefore it is imperative that you buy Magi's Blessing when you fight teams with alot of crowd Control Effects. Be Aware! playing Hel will make you a target almost every battle because if Hel is allowed to do her thing then there is no way they win this battle no matter who they are.
Build (Enemy Team lacks CC's)
From time to time you will face teams who solly depends on damage and no crowd control then Magi's Blessing is useless to you and Health right in the eye instead. Therefore you will buy Ethereals Staff instead end game.
I tend to use the first couple of levels to see how good the Enemy team is at using there CC's and if i don't feel under pressure then i wait buying Magi's Blessing. And if i dont come under pressure at all then i dont buy it at all of course. If the fight is too easy then you can of course skip Ethereals Staff aswell and buy something stronger.
Priority Skill order
This is how you want to prioritise your leveling of Hel's spells.
Stance Switch > Repulse/Inspire > Decay/Restoration > Hinder/cleanse
Actives
Meditation
I know already by now that alot of gamers out there will curse me for using Meditation. Well as said in the introduction then this build is what works for me and i couldn't imagine a wolrd playing Hel without Meditation. In my oppinion then you would have to stay to inactive early game or go back to base constantly which would make you severilly fall behind.
The arguement to not buy Meditation is that it is only usable early game but i assure you if thats the case then you are not being aggressive enough end game.
Aegis
Im sure Aegis comes in handy in many cases however the best case that comes to my mind is Kukulkan. Hel is a God who has to get pretty close to hit her enemies with her spells. So close that when you engage Kukulkan then he tends throw his ultimate after you when you get too close. therefore you need to have Aegis and be on your guard to pop it when you hear that dragon roar!.
Combat Blink
As mentioned earlier then Hel's worse nightmare is getting trapped by a stun and that goes for Odin's cage aswell. Hel cant jump out of it or anything like that so therefore she is sure to die in there if she doesn't have Combat Blink to blink out of it.
Greater Purification
As everyone else Hel of course has to buy Greater Purification when facing Ares. However she also needs to buy atleast second degree purification when facing Hades because early game her dispell only makes her immune to CC's for 0,5 sec which is not enough to escape Hades ultimate if you are too deep in. end game it will increase to 1,3 sec which is still cutting it close.
The Big Question!
Some of you will now ask; "What if the enemy team is Ares, Odin, Kukulkan?". Well that is in general a bugger but not an impossible challenge for Hel if you take your precautions. If the team is these three then what you want to do is buy purification because Ares is the one thing you tend to not being able to avoid. Ares Blinks in and bang! Then you will have to keep close attention to Odin and keep your distance at all times from him unless you have the enemy team on the run. Regarding Kukulkan then you have two options. 1. to let somebody else deal with him or 2. pay attention to when his ultimate is op or down.
This is how you should prioritise the actives IF! Ares, Odin, Kukulkan is the enemy:
Greater Purification > Combat Blink > Aegis of any kind.
Repulse/ Inspire
This spell is without doubt Hel's most powerfull spell and you want to max its skill points as early in the game as passible.
What you want to do with this spell is accept the fact that you are a support class and dont get too dps *****. Therefore you stay behind your teammates and function as a safety zone for them to get back to, to get healed up. when you feel your teammates has caused enough confusion amongst enemy ranks then you engage the fight and finish them off.
You also want to clear mobs with this spell. already at lvl 8 or something you will start clearing mobs packs instantly with this spell.
Hinder/ Cleanse
This spell is by far Hel's weakest spell. However it does come in handy some times. But this spell is only usable for its dispell function and therefore it should only be skilled to lvl 1 early game and then maxed as late in the game as passible.
Many people will disagree with me here because skilled 5 Hinder will slow the enemy 25% but Inspire will make you Run 25% quicker and Heal you a **** load! that i find way better.
However cleanse is a good thing to have when facing good CC's teams. i tend to use it when facing gods as; Ymir, Anubis, Xblanque, Ares, Cupid, Athena, etc.
When you stay behind and can dispell your teamates from the enemies stuns that can mean the difference between life and death for your teammates. Especially when one of your teammates get caught in Ares Ultimate and you dont then you dispell instantly when pulled. that means he can avoid a 2 sec burst.
Xblanque. Im going to teach you something about his Ultimate; "Darkests of Nights". When his ultimate starts ticking then if you dispell yourself on the last tic then you will be immune to CC's when his ultimate pops and therefore you avoid it. it is therefore imperative when you face Xblanque that you tell your teammates that they should hug you when he uses his ultimate.
Ymir. The tactic for Ymir is that you sent one of your teammates to engage Ymir and lure him to use his stun. then you dispell him instantly and then all of the team charges. for the next 10 secs or so Ymir is almost useless and therefore his teammates are left vulnerable.
Decay/ Restoration
This spell there is not much to be said about. it is a ball that hurts averagely when hit by and one of them heals you for an okay amount. you use it as you please.
Dark Stance/ Light Stance
This is of course the spell that switches stances and thats it but you want to max this spell's skill points as quick as passible because dark stance gives you magical power 20/30/40/50/60 this is Hel's ultimate and you will end up maxing it end game no matter how hard you try
Rotation
The rotation for playin Hel is as following; Dark Stance => Decay => Repulse => Light Stance => (if need be Inspire) => Restoration => (if need be Inspire) => Dark Stance => REPEAT!
You want to set all you spells to instant casting except Hinder/cleanse. You dont want any aiming tool for the balls or area measurement for Repulse/Inspire.
I could of course say alot more about Hel but then no ones gonna bother reading my post since its not a post any longer but a novel.
I hope this can help some out there that dreams of becoming a great Hel Player. I Hear all the time that Hel is so hard to learn blah blah but trust me she is not. personally i found Tyr even harder to learn.
