Chiron - The Great Teacher - Guide Introduction

Heyho and welcome to my guide for Chiron. It's my first guide and it's more complicated than I thought to create one. My reasons to create this guide are on the one hand these "guides" that just show a build that they tried and on the other hand the Chiron players that I saw, who just screwed up with him.

I played Chiron for hours and I'm near to Level 2 with him. I played and won with him in every game mode (except for assault). Almost every match was a win, if not I did a really good job anyway. I kinda fell in love with this guy and will continue to play him mainly and update my guide as he develops and share my experiences.

In this guide, I'll explain the basics of Chiron, my item choices, my playstyle with him and talk about some matchups.

Sorry that I didn't figured out how to insert skills, godnames and items here.

Pros & Cons

Pros:
+ Good mobility, thanks to his Gyddyup! and his basic movement speed
+ Passive/Active Support abilities
+ Escape, chasing and slowing abilities
+ High Mid/Late Game Potential

Cons:
- CC will quickly end his life
- I have the feeling that he's very mana hungry, especially when you always poke with his Masterful Shot
- His early game is just "ok" but he becomes a treat very fast
- Depending on the situation, his ultimate can be easily dodged

Skills

Let's begin with his Skills:

Herbal Medicine - Every 12s Chiron collects herbs for a poultice, which increases all healing Chiron receives for each poultice he carries. Each time he uses an ability, the lowest health ally within 30' is healed, consuming a poultice.

Ability Type: Buff
Healing Bonus Per Stack: 10%
Healing Per Consumed Stack: 30 + 5 / God level over 5s
Max Stacks: 3
Radius: 30

The healing bonus is great for a passive, when you play with a healer in your team. The healing itself isn't that much, you won't feel that you've been healed but for a passive it's good.

Training Exercise - Chiron warns his teammates to evade the area, removing crowd control effects so they can escape before it explodes, damaging and crippling all enemies in the area.

Ability Type: Ground Target
Damage: 70 / 125 / 180 / 235 / 290 (+80% of your physical power)
Cripple Duration: 1s
Radius: 17.5
Cost: 55 / 60 / 65 / 70 / 75
Cooldown: 15s

You will mostly use this ability to poke the enemy team or to clear waves, but don't forget that it can remove CC from your allies.

Masterful Shot - Chiron passively marks his enemies as targets when he damages them with Basic Attacks or Centaurus, reducing their Physical Protections by 3%. He may activate this ability to fire seeking arrows at all marked targets within range, damaging and slowing them.

Ability Type: Cone
Damage: 55 / 100 / 145 / 190 / 235 (+70% of your physical power)
Mark Duration: 3.5s
Slow: 25 / 27.5 / 30 / 32.5 / 35%
Slow Duration: 3s
Range: 55
Cost: 65
Cooldown: 14 / 13 / 12 / 11 / 10s

My favorite ability from Chiron. If you buy some mana potions you can poke your enemies all the time. This skill is great for escaping, chasing, starting a teamfight, ganking or securing a kill. I max it first, cause it saved me countless kills.

Giddyup! - Chiron gallops forward damaging enemies, knockup up minions, and kicking enemy gods behind him. Chiron may fire Basic Attacks while charging.

Ability Type: Dash
Damage: 70 / 95 / 120 / 145 / 160 (+50% of your physical power)
Cost: 70 / 75 / 80 / 85 / 90
Cooldown: 16s

Need to get the hell outta there? Giddyup! Need to hunt down that nearly dead victim? Giddyup! Someone needs to get knocked up? Giddyup! Don't waste it to run in the enemy team. Use it to knock up enemies, cancel them while casting, secure your kill, safe yourself!

And last but not least:

Centaurus - Chiron is transformed into a constellation, and can fire three long distance shots, even through walls. If Chiron would be killed during this ability, he does not die until he runs out of time or shots. Killing an enemy in this state returns Chiron to life with health equal to the damage dealt instead. Applies target mark.

Ability Type: Line
Damage Per Shot: 100 / 145 / 190 / 235 / 280 (+90% of your physical power)
Range: 120
Cost: 80 / 90 / 100 / 110 / 120
Cooldown: 90s

Dude, you can fire 3 powerfull high distance shots, through walls, while running, while looking absolutely fabulous. If you die you don't die. If you kill someone you not only not die you will be healed for your dealt damage? Awesome! Use it to blast through the whole enemy team, when they have been pulled together,to secure a kill and most important safe it as your combat-comeback: Nearly dead? Enemies too? Nuke them down!

Items

Most of the time I will start with Cursed Gauntlet, because I want to get my Devourer's Gauntlet as fast as I can, so I can start building stacks. However in Conquest you will like to start with Death's Toll and Spiked Gauntlet for more sustain.

I prefer Warrior Tabi before Ninja Tabi, because I just think that raw physical power suits Chiron better than attack speed. More physical power increases the damage output of your abilities and that is very useful, when it comes to your ult Centaurus or to secure a kill with Masterful Shot.

If you have a hard time building stacks, because you just can't farm because whatever or many of your teammates needs to build stacks too: Bloodforge is perfectly fine too.

When there is a guardian or someone who builds protection, you should get some penetration. The Executioner is more than enough to cover that part. It provides attack speed, physical power and lowers their protections very hard.

You prefer to fire like a mashine gun? Not a fan of a shotgun? Fine. Get your Ninja Tabi and your Odysseus'Bow. But I recommend to buy The Executioner, when the enemy team builds protection.

After your first three items, it's time to hit like them a truck and hurt them so bad that their grandchildren will feel the pain. First of all buy Rage to increase your chance to crit thanks to it's passive. Malice should be your next item on your way to a enemy-eating monster, cause you choose physical power over attack speed it will do a lot more damage. Round it up with Deathbringer and yeah... bring death.

Actives

Shield of the Underworld is my favorite active against hunters and warriors, cause before they realise they already killed themselves pretty much.

You fight Ares, Hades or whatever doesn't let you go where you want? Greater Purification.

Enfeebling Curse so you can run for your life or you and your team can hunt them down, also good to deal with enemy hunters.

Combat Blink. I buy this for the same reason I buy Greater Purification. To save my ***.

Matchups

This section will be updated, when I played against more gods..

But for now. Fear magical power carries. Anubis will nuke you down in no time If he manages to stun you.
Also beware for Ah Puch. When he hits you with his Fleeting Breath and your passive kicks in, you will be stunned. Learned that the hard way.

Until now, there wasn't a single hunter I couldn't deal with. And in the end you will slice through Ares, Artemis, Ymir etc. like butter.

Playstyle

Early Game - Here you will mostly farm and maybe get some early kills depending on your supp/team. Concentrate on last hitting minions, don't forget about the jungler (in conquest), don't push too far (Jungler!). Wait for ganks and then nuke them!

Mid/Late Game - Here you should be at your prime. You can 1vs1 almost everyone or atleast annoy them without dying. If not, in the late game you will shine, they will fall like leaves from a tree.

Use your Training Exersice to poke your enemy and clear waves. Maybe safe some allies?
Slow your enemies with Masterful Shot, so you can shoot them down or to let you or a teammate escape.
Giddyup is so damn great for chasing an enemy, not only that you can shoot while running, If you catch them you will also knock them up. Most of the time you will use it as escape anyway (except my guide turned you into a horsehuman-killing mashine!).
And as a last hint: Don't waste Centaurus. It can safe your life. End other people lifes. And yeah thats it. Don't poke with it.

Conclusion

Chiron is a very unique god, with a interesting kit and high carry potential. I love this guy, hope you will love him too. And I hope I could help someone.

Also, you might want to revise your skill order, you put 6 points in Masterful Shot and only 4 in Training Exercise

Ahh I see, you suggest to take Odysseus' Bow as 3rd item and continue with The Executioner and then crit.

It confused me because in your Item Purchase Order tab, you placed Odysseus' Bow as a 3rd item option, like it would replace The Executioner

@Bullfrog323 Sorry If you misunderstand me, I always prefer penetration above attack speed. And you are right with the base protections, I just said: If they don't build any defensive items or don't have supp anyway. But Odysseus Bow will always be 3rd choice or somewhat. Behind The Executioner and Titans Bane.

Thanks, that's nice to know

Also
Quoted:
Odysseus Bow is just optional in my build, if the enemy team has no protections. Happens sometimes

No, it never happens.
Because every god has a base physical protection, even if he doesn't buy a single item.

At level 20, those "innate" protections range between 60 and 80, depending of the gods.
That means a squishy mage like Anubis, still has 61 protection against your attacks.
If you don't have any penetration item, you are dealing 62% of your normal damage.

Also, you need to consider that Heartward Amulet is an item that most of support will take.
Your target might not have bought a defensive item, still you are now dealing only 55% of your normal damage to that squishy Anubis

I'm sorry if you don't like the way it is, but a penetration item will always be better than raw power or attack speed in term of DPS increase.

@Zilby Thank you very much :) Didn't thought that I would get any feedback :D Odysseus Bow is just optional in my build, if the enemy team has no protections. Happens sometimes :p
And I need Malice for rounding up the crit chance !
And you are right Aegis is as useful as purification. I will add that :)
I often max Masterful Shot and Training Exercise at the same time. I don't know if that makes really sense, but it seems to work.

@Kriewonkel I hope you will be satisfied

@Bullfrog323 Yes, you are CC Immune for the whole duration. Just checked it to be sure :D

I didn't have an occasion to test it myself, but does Chiron ultimate gives him CC immunity during the whole time ?

I mean, its duration is quite long (I never got out of my ult because I ran out of time), if he would be CC immuned during the whole time, it would be very strong.

Usually, when a character has CC immunity frames, the god becomes glowing yellow, while Chiron becomes more blueish than yellow. That's why I didn't think it gave him cc immunity.

So, would Centaurus prevent Chiron from being pulled by Ares's No Escape ?

Good looking guide :)
Glad to see some people are still putting in the effort beyond just a build ^^

In regards to build, you really need The Executioner for damage, pen is super important. If you want to replace an item for odysseus bow, I'd swap out Malice since it's the most accessory item in the build (your dps with Malice is far less than your dps with The Executioner if you have to ever choose between the two).

As for your cons, there's a few points that are worth mentioning:

louzifer wrote:

-There are ways to mitigate CC, most importantly your CC immune ult, Greater Purification which is truly a necessity item (more so than Combat Blink at least, the cooldown is much shorter), and possibly Greater Aegis or Aegis Pendant ( Greater Aegis is great against matchups like Ares and Xing Tian since it counters their ults).
-He's only mana hungry if you decide to max his Masterful Shot before his Training Exercise since you'll be having a harder time clearing waves. Still, you can max either one and be effective at least I believe.
-"he becomes a treat very fast" I can't quite say I disagree ^^

+1 from me
