Introduction

I've played Smite off and on since about 2014, and have been playing it especially often lately. I had been maining Ares, because I enjoy the guardian role, and Ares specifically because he plays more aggressively, and Cerberus was a natural fit to that playstyle.

Quick question, is this build still effective? I understand that this build is somewhat outdated.

The first 3 items are fine. I wouldn't get Stone of Gaia at all except in Assault. Consider Gem of Isolation and Spear of the Magus to be good optional items. In Arena I'd also consider Relic Dagger to go with Blink for ult pulls. Finally, always consider counter items such as Witch blade, Hide of the Nemean Lion, and Midgardian Mail.

SmiteFire & Smite

Smite is an online battleground between mythical gods. Players choose from a selection of gods, join session-based arena combat and use custom powers and team tactics against other players and minions. Smite is inspired by Defense of the Ancients (DotA) but instead of being above the action, the third-person camera brings you right into the combat. And, instead of clicking a map, you use WASD to move, dodge, and fight your way through the detailed graphics of SMITE's battlegrounds.
