Introduction

Ao Kuang, Dragon King of Noodles

For those of you that done know Ao Kuang is the Dragon King of the Eastern Seas who has the MIGHTY STORM at his command. Due to the 'NEW META' Ao Kuang isn't picked as often in most cases but I still think he is a superb god IF he is played with care.

The reason for building a heavy mana based build is because of his passive Graceful Winds Graceful Winds increase Ao Kuangs magical power by 5% of his mana. For example; If his mana was 2000, then he would gain an additional 100 magical power because of this. Although it is only 100, it can make a BIG difference

Prepare yourselves to go full noodle!

Items

NOTE: will convert all item total mana into magical power at the end

Book of Thoth

STATS

    30/65/100 Magical Power
    25/75/125 Mana
    5/10/15 MP5

Although this is an expensive item in the beginning, you get the stats listed above but also the passive. You permanently gain 10 mana per minion kill (Upto 50 stacks) and 3% of your mana is converted into magical power.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Shoes of Focus
STATS
    20/35/50 Magical Power
    20/135/250 Mana
Obviously the next item would be footwear for the noodle without feet. Personally I would go for Shoes of Focus because of the 21% movement speed (faster than Shoes of the Magi) and the +15% cooldown reduction
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Gem of Isolation

STATS
    30/50/70 Magical Power
    50/150/250 Health
    50/150/250 Mana

The reason Gem of Isolation is next is obviously because of MANA! But also for every tick of damage taken by an enemy god by your abilities, they are slowed by 25% for 2 seconds. What this means is that your Tornadoes are slowing them for every tick of damage. Which is a lot of ticks.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Spear of the Magus
STATS
    20/30/40 Magical Power
    5/10/15 Magical Penetration
You are not buying this item for the magical damage, but the magical penetration and the passive. The passive being that when damage is taken by one of your abilities, their magical protections is reduced by 10 AND THEN reduced by 10% for 5 seconds. (Upto 2 stacks) So what this means is that your Tornadoes not only slow your enemies now, they also rip through there magical protections
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Soul Reaver

STATS
    30/65/100 Magical Power
    100/200/300 Mana

Now the passive on this item is very interesting. When a god takes damage from your abilities, they take 15% of their maximum health in additional damage. If multiple gods are hit, the damage is applied to the one with the greatest maximum health. This can only occur once every 60 seconds. The only reason you are buying this item is because of the high magical power and mana.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rod of Tahuti
STATS
    25/75/125 Magical Power
    5/10/15 MP5
This item... This item is the icing on the cake. Not only do you get a lot of magical power, but the passive increases your magical power by 25% That is astronomical! With Ao Kuang's passive, The passive on the Book of Thoth and This? My friend this is gold.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The Overall Mana + Magical Power (MATHS!)

NOTE: This is all theory based and I have played games with this build does work. But the numbers may be off. So this is a ROUGH estimation. This is also disregarding Ao Kuangs base stats throughout.

MANA

Book of Thoth
- Unstacked = 125 Mana
- Stacked = 625 Mana
Shoes of Focus
- 250 Mana
Gem of Isolation
- 250 Mana
Spear of the Magus
- None
Soul Reaver
- 300 Mana
Rod of Tahuti
- None

TOTAL = 1425 Mana

Ao Kuang Passive + Book of Thoth = 114 Magical Power. This is 8% (Ao Kuangs 5% + Book of Thoths 3%) of the total mana of all items. (1425)

MAGICAL POWER!
Book of Thoth
- 100 Magical Power
Shoes of Focus
- 50 Magical Power
Gem of Isolation
- 70 Magical Power
Spear of the Magus
- 40 Magical Power
Soul Reaver
- 100 Magical Power
Rod of Tahuti
- 125 Magical Power
Passive
- 114 Magical Power

Total = 599 Magical Power

Rod of Tahuti passive (599 + 25%) = 749 Magical Power

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Holy ****! That's 749 Magical Power WITHOUT, and I repeat WITHOUT! Ao Kuang's base stats and stats through levelling. Which means it is higher!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The Two Downfalls...

This build is flawed in two ways;

ONE: This is expensive as ****! Coming out to a total 16,295 gold!
TWO: You are the squishiest **********er out there. Although you have enormous amounts of damage, a gust of wind will send Ao Kuang on his ***.

maybe a little off topic but does the passive of book of toth stack with Ao's passive?

I've always hated people entering in a skill's or item's description into the guide; it's repetitive and likely to become outdated as gods' mana costs and base values are changed over time. Try replacing the images that you've inserted with BBCoding. For example, Book of Thoth can be inserted in by entering (icon=Book of Thoth size=x), which reults in: .

The dimensions can be changed by increasing or decreasing the variable "x," which is obviously replaced with a numerical value, such as "50."

You can also enter in ((Book of Thoth)), which results in Book of Thoth.

Just make sure to replace the parentheses with brackets.

Considering this is essentially just a build, I recommend changing your title to "Ao Kuang, Building for the Passive" or something similar which lets the user know that the guide doesn't involve a playstyle section.

I don't play Ao Kuang enough to give any input on the build itself, but I hope I'm not coming across as overly critical - I think guides that are builds are fine, I just think that it should be obvious in the title whether or not the guide is simply a build.

I'd recommend switching shoes and book of thoth, at the very least. I can understand why you would want to build it early, but you're a mage. Getting the minion kills shouldn't be difficult.

I know, as I have said earlier. Thanks for the feedback, will take into consideration on future updates when I can be bothered :D

To be fair, it WAS my first time playing Apollo. And my chat shorted out halfway though the match.

Also, Hagward: Jararo is one of the more influencing people on this site. I suggest you listen to him. In otherwords, I'm too lazy to put in my own input. I's 8:30 P.M., for gods' sake!

ANd Hagward, how dare you have swag on this website... bad Hagward.

I'll be checking up on this, but do revamp the build considerably.

Just a build with a guide to explain it. Nothing fancy, not much, just a build. With an actual way to explain it.

At least you DID explain your (good) build, but I think that it would benefit from you at least telling readers how to use Ao with this build effectively.

Not upvoting or downvoting. Keep it up, and please put some work into it.

EDIT: Dammit jararo, you beat me to it!

The build is... ok. You are starting with a very expensive item, that does not give much until all of the stacks are complete. You are building boots rather late which can hurt your escapability and ability to chase. Gem of Iso and Spear of the Magus are decent choiced, but Soul Reaver is a bad item on Ao Kuang and I have learned that the hard way. The passive is far too uncontrollable considering his abilities.

As for the guide itself, it talks about the items and then the math behind the items. Not much to pay attention to.

Add a gameplay section, because those are the skeleton of a guide. A Skills section would be great to teach players what good ways to use his abilities are.

Take my word for this, and I implore you to check out my Ao Kuang guide.
