Adaptive Burst - Skadi

Hello all,

My name is Vansqu, I'm a casual player who likes making builds for my gods. I have finally decided to share them with others for feedback and opinions. Personally I prefer playing PvP in numerous games with my own builds.

Furthermore I also make youtube videos as a hobby and for fun. In the future I'm planning to make these god guides also on there.

In short, here is the adaptive build that I personally use for Skadi and I hope you will enjoy or appreciate my point of view.

Skadi is a very interesting Hunter/ADC who brings a new mechanic to the table. Skadi is tagged as a Pusher and she makes this true with her kit. Kaldr (Pet/Wolf) can be controlled on who you want him to attack. She can use Kaldr (Pet/Wolf) for high amount of pressure or to tank/deal damage the Tower/Phoenix/Titan.

Personally I find that Skadi is not really an AA Hunter/ADC because her kit is build around working together with Kaldr. Furthermore he scales 100% of Skadi's basic attack damage when Rune Of The Hunt is r4.

So I like playing her more like an Assassin that flanks from the sides which helps with her lack of "**** This **** I'm Out" (No Escape).

Kaldr, The Winter Wolf

Passive

Kaldr fights by Skadi's side and has 2 forms: Beast and Elemental. While in Beast form he can attack enemies and be attacked. While Elemental he is immune to attacks and regenerates health over time. His forms can be controlled with Skadi's Rune Of The Hunt, but he will be forced into Elemental form if he loses all 5 Hit Points. If Kaldr gets attacked by any source, he will lose 1 Hit Point meaning that AoE and/or DoT damage will make it hard for him to be active in the fights.

Piercing Cold

Ability #1

Skadi throws an icy spear forward, dealing damage to enemies and Slowing them for 3s. Kaldr's basic attacks deal double damage to targets afflicted by Piercing Cold. This ability pierces through Gods & Minions

Rune Of The Hunt

Ability #2

Toggle: Skadi marks a target for Kaldr to hunt. While toggled on, Kaldr assumes Beast form, chasing and attacking the marked enemy. If a marked enemy dies Kaldr attacks other enemies nearby. Kaldr will always prioritise nearby Gods over Minions. When toggled off, Kaldr stops attacking and returns to Skadi, reverting to his Elemental form on the way. While Kaldr is returning he still has a small 1-2 second window where is vulnerable to damage. This ability can be activated at rank 0 and Kaldr gains new skills as it ranks up.

Rank 1: Kaldr gains a dash attack
Rank 3: Kaldr's kills heal him
Rank 5: Kaldr's attacks give Skadi 10% increased movement speed

Permafrost

Ability #3

Skadi freezes the ground for 5s at a target location. The frozen area deals damage to enemies who set foot on it and causes Gods to lose control of their movement as they slide across. When an enemy God is sliding over Permafrost and collides with something they will be sent the opposite direction. Skadi's movement speed increases by 25% while standing on the area.

Winter's Grasp

Ability #4

Snowstorms surround Skadi and Kaldr. Upon activation, enemies in range become Rooted and Kaldr is restored to full health. The storms persist for 4s while dealing damage to enemies every .5s and making Kaldr immune to damage.

Root Duration: 1 / 1.25 / 1.5 / 1.75 / 2s

Cost: 80 / 90 / 00 / 110 / 120
Cooldown: 90s

Pros
-Good damage scaling on abilities
-2 abilities which buff movement speed
-Lots of CC (a slow, a root, an ice slide field)
-Great poke and pressure with Kaldr
-Puppy Waves in the wave emote! <3

Cons
-Lack of a dash/leap which makes it hard to escape
-Combat efficiency slows down significantly when Kaldr is out of health
-No stun in her kit
-No CC immunity built into her kit

Below I will explain how I personally like to use her abilities in combonations.

Wave Clear

While clearing Minions you will be mainly Auto Attacking and only use Piercing Cold if you don't have an AoE mage to preserve mana until you completed Transcendence. Mainly because the early game cooldown/mana cost on Piercing Cold and the ability is more useful for combat to slow the enemy Gods and enhancing Kaldr's damage. It is best NOT to use Permafrost for wave clearing as it has more use to ruin the enemies movement during fights.

1 VS 1

With Winter's Grasp

In this situation, you will sending in Kaldr with Rune Of The Hunt while trying to use Piercing Cold when Kaldr is getting close to make sure the double damage will last at its longest. When they are in Kaldr's circle of Winter's Grasp I have found best to use it which roots and damages them over time. While Auto Attacking in between of course. Keep Permafrost ready to either ruin their initiate, slow them while running away, confuse/force their movement direction or escape by walking over it and gaining 25% movement speed while the enemy slides out of control.

Without Winter's Grasp

In this situation, I have found it best to play it slow. Dependable on the enemy god, I find it best to let them initiate or move in first which I ruin/disorientate by using Permafrost and followed up in a combination of Rune Of The Hunt & Piercing Cold proceeded by auto attacking them. When Permafrost comes off Cooldown make sure you DON'T use it and keep it as a safety net because it is the closest of an escape that you have in your kit.

1 VS 2

In this situation with my builds, I find it is best to send Kaldr after the Primary target with Rune Of The Hunt followed up by Piercing Cold While moving in towards the Secondary target to cast Winter's Grasp which roots them both. After this I prefer to attack the Secondary target while Kaldr noms away at the Primary target. Use Permafrost to disorientate the one who is a bigger problem for Skadi & Kaldr.

People tend to forget that Skadi can also put on a lot of multi pressure instead of just single target pressure with Kaldr.

Team Fights

With Winter's Grasp Focus/Pressure

In this situation with my builds, I find it is best to hunt their damage dealers first instead of pressuring the support. Send in Kaldr with Rune Of The Hunt while placing yourself close to another god and use Winter's Grasp & Piercing Cold on both if available. If this is not the case with Piercing Cold, throw it as the more annoying of the two. What has happened while doing this is that you have rooted two enemies on two different locations. Use Permafrost where it is needed most to disorientate enemies if this is not the case, DON'T use it and keep it for later in the fight or as an escape method.

With Winter's Grasp Control

In this situation with my builds, I find it best to look for where the enemy comes most together during the fight and send in Kaldr with Rune Of The Hunt while position myself in range but close to another enemy. Followed up by using Winter's Grasp to root multiple enemies and keeping Permafrost ready to throw where needed if they try to escape or run away from my allies. Applying Piercing Cold to the primary target which Kaldr chases with Rune Of The Hunt. Of course you will be Auto Attacking in between.

Without Winter's Grasp

In this situation with my builds, I find it best to start with Permafrost to disorientate/ruin the enemies advance or initiate. Following up with sending Kaldr Rune Of The Hunt on either the support or mage which then receives a Piercing Cold to the face. Auto Attack in between or switch targets when required by yourself or with Kaldr's Rune Of The Hunt. When Permafrost comes back off cool down make sure you DON'T use it and look at the situation first. Only use it again if you are sure it will be useful to disorientate the enemies, if not keep it as a method of escape.
