I kinda need to see the picture and the background since there are many ways to blend it. There are at least:
smudging
lighting
hue & saturation
adjustment layers



And some people just make the contrast so big that it looks good :p

Is your resolution 1483x922? :O (not trying to offend or insult, just asking because unfamiliar with such size)


Well, the anime character is rendered somewhat poorly. There are white edges and too rough edges. I'd feather the selection a bit to make it smoother. I don't really like the edge either, but it's well done anyway.

Other than that for a beginner it's good :p

Damn, even with photoshop this is a lot harder than I thott. But it's fun learning dis. I might be making a shoppppppeee soon. But I got a bunch of other stuff so soon = months.

It definitely better now. I'd still delete some of the rubbish outside the lines with the eraser tool though :p

Wow, this is pretty sweet!

Definately what I need to learn the basics. I just have questions about the Nebula on the kat sig.
Is there a way of making that without having to download anything? If not what is your recommended way of making a nice background with normal Photoshop (CS5.1 if that's important). I'm making some really nice 'pictures' by resizing and colourising etc. but I feel it needs a background or a decent effect to make it look peerrrrrrteh.

Splatter brushes and abstract backgrounds are great (DeviantArt for the brushes and google for the abstract backgrounds. To get an abstract background of the selected/wanted colour just add the colour to the search phrase "violet abstract background" for example)

SmiteFire & Smite

Smite is an online battleground between mythical gods. Players choose from a selection of gods, join session-based arena combat and use custom powers and team tactics against other players and minions. Smite is inspired by Defense of the Ancients (DotA) but instead of being above the action, the third-person camera brings you right into the combat.
