Hello readers
I've never posted anything in this forum nor much in other forums, but I've dreamed of Charybdis in Smite since I saw Scylla (in other words: since I started with Smite). At least I got myself together and now I'm writing this. I hope you'll create Charybdis with my following ideas or some near them. (Picture from this website)
Before I start to describe the abilities, I want to tell something about Charybdis. You probably know him. He lives with Scylla at the Strait of Messina. Passing ships had to move through the range of one of them. This was very dangerous and only a few survived each time. So, Smite already has Scylla, but without Charybdis the Sailsmen may ship around her range and won't be between Scylla and Charybdis. Picture from this website
ABILITIES:
0. Passive: Hardened Skin
All physical damage taken is reduced by 6 +2 for every lvl at the ultimate
1. Ability: Poisons of the Depth
Ability: Line
Affects: Enemies and Allies
Damage/Buff: Magical; Poisons Enemies, buffs Allies
Length/Width: 30/10
Description: Charybdis gathers his energy and spits stomach acid in a direction, hitting Allies (and himself) will increase their attack speed and make their attacks poisoning; hitting enemies will poison them.
Buff duration: 4/6/8/10/10 seconds
Attack Speed: 5/10/12/15/20 %
Poison Dmg: 10/15/20/25/35 in 10 seconds
Cooldown: 15 seconds each lvl.
Needs: 70/80/100/120/150 mana
2. Ability: Mighty Tentacle
Ability: Line
Affects: Enemies
Damage: Magical
Length/Width: 40/15
Desription: 3 Activations,
1. Charybdis raises one of his enormous tentacles and readys it up to slam, he may cancel this (like Athen with her "Preemptive Strike") and lowers it again.
2. He smashes the tentacle on the ground, dealing damage and stunning enemies. He is unable to move while the tentacle is at the ground and enemies attacking the tentacle will also damage Charybdis, he can NOT cancel this action.
3. (optional) He swings with the tentacle to throw enemies away.
After 3 seconds at the ground the tentacle will return to Charybdis.
Damage: 30/60/100/150/200 + 80% magical power
Stun Duration: 1/1.5/2/2.5/3 seconds
Cooldown: 5/10/12/15/20 seconds
Cost: 90/100/150/200/250 mana
3. Ability: Stomach content
Ability: Circle
Affects: Enemies
Damage: Magical
Radius: 10 (Buffed: 20)
Description:
Charybdis spits parts from his stomach to an area, poisoning it for 1s. With a chance of 30% a vomit/spit will include a ship part, which stuns an enemy for 0.1 seconds.
If Charybdis is buffed by "Poisons of the Depth" "Stomach content" hits a larger area, deals 3x damage/s and lays there for 6s. On the contreary, the cooldown will be increased as well. He won't shoot ship parts while he is buffed.
Poison Dmg: 20/20/30/30/40 in 10 seconds
Cooldown: 8/6/5/4/3 seconds
Buffed by "Poisons of the Depth":
Poison Dmg: 60/60/90/90/120 in 10 seconds
Cooldown: 20/18/15/12/10 seconds
Cost: 30/35/40/45/50 mana
4. Ultimate Ability: Pull from bellow
Ability: Circle
Affects: Enemies
Damage: Magical
Radius: 40-20
Description: Charybdis dives into the depth and opens his giant mouth (10) into the air. A crippling area of non-damaging water will pull enemies to his mouth where they will be damaged. Charybdis eats smaller minions instantly and heals himself at percentage of the damage he made. The Area will shrink automatically. At the end, Charybdis appears again and every enemy left in the area will be damaged by all of the damage made in the area. In the underground Charybdis is invulnerable and unable to move.
Damage per tick: 10/30/40/50/60 + 5% of his magical power
Final Damage: 100/150/200/250/300 + damage made in the area
Cooldown: 90 seconds
Cost: 200 mana
I think Charybdis could be overpowered with the right allies (like Scylla), but alone he wouldnt be a chaser nor a great stand-alone-character, he may deal much damage, but he would be a medium difficulty to handle and hard to escape a horde of enemies.
I know that I'm not very good with numbers nor with English grammar, I hope that you understand everything and think about Charybdis bringing into Smite.
Thank you for reading this.
You may ask questions if something is not clear or wrong/overpowered/underpowered. I will be gratefull for any help to improve him for Smite.
You might want to rework that passive. Think about the gods that rely really strongly on tick damage, like Anubis. They would be useless against it. If you want a passive that counters tick damage, you could consider something like Mark of the Vanguard's passive, which reduces damage taken by a flat amount.
Ult. costs 200mana, and I have no idea how to change ability 3, any ideas?
Passive is reworked, "All physical damage taken is reduced by 6 +2 every time the ultimate is leveled" - hardened skin, magic is not really reduced through skins or physical items - instead of "every damage taken only hits in the first second (e. g. bleeding)"
Interesting. I'd thought of adding Charybdis but always sort of thought of her as just a giant mouth (then again the thing with Scylla being a little girl is unique to Smite, so...)
Also I'm pretty sure Charybdis is female, by the way.
