Oh! My glorious return! Most of you on the forum now are new, so chances are you don't know me since I've been gone for months. But nevertheless, you should still be grateful I'm coming back to SMITE. I mean, come on, who doesn't like SmellyHarry?

To the point, how is the state of SMITE right now? I haven't played too much yet so I'm kind of in the dark about meta, changes, etc. So I'm asking you all, the lovely members of SMITEFIRE, what's the good and bad with SMITE at the moment?

More specifically, what are your views on balance? Items? Matchmaking? New Gods? Patches? The player-base? Anything else?

I mean, I quit mostly because I thought "Focus" was a dumb stat (and it's gone now from what I can tell) and it felt like every match I played I lost because my teammates were just not in the same skill range.

I'm just hoping SMITE is in a better state now than then. So please, let me know and let us discuss!

well i have good news or bad news depanding on what you think of jungling.
because now that's a thing in smite and most people don't like it.
i liked it but im beginning to dislike it because it's starting to hurt the communety.
magical god's get magical basic attack's meaning that they scale of of magical power.
some god's now get attack chain's like 1-1-1.5-2 AoE on ne zha the new super assassin none can stop if just a little bit fed. or loki's new 1-0.5-0.5-0.5-1.5 swing these swing's go faster or slower depending on how much damage they do so loki 0.5 attack's are fast while nezha's 2 attack is slower.
never forget dawngate and never forgive EA. Freia will hunt them for eternity.

Hey, I heard about you in hifrombuddha blog. Welcome back. (Psssst, I heard he recommended you to be an editor long ago, just wish he still consider that) And you came back at wrong time where hirez is on the edge of being left by some players due their unstable mind. Maybe a girl broke their heart and make them think jungle is a good place to have fun. Just wish they return to normal.

Oh man! I'm like a famous guy! Hah, very interesting blog, thanks for bringing that to my attention. Hopefully after sometime I'll be able to rekindle my passion for SMITE and this forum. This will probably happen because I plan to start a live-cast channel for this game and a couple others on youtube. The first video should be up tomorrow actually. But don't mind my shameless plug!

To the point, you both mentioned how jungling is making a come back. That's pretty interesting to me. I was playing during the time when they decided to cut jungling out of the picture. It was a pretty difficult choice then and I can't imagine it is any easier to bring it back now. There are some definite pros and cons that come with it and I can see how it would divide the community. Hopefully HiRez's unstable mega-mind will pick a side, either a viable jungle that's not OP/UP or no jungle at all.

The decision to pick a side is probably the most important part of the problem since they have been in limbo about it for awhile I guess, based on your posts.

Nothing is even close of being balanced right now since the conquest map has been changed, a lot of items have been cut into two different end items (the final rank), new gods have always been very strong in their own way, but usually gets fixed within three weeks after launch. I'm not sure about the player base as I've never had any problems with not getting into a game when I'm supposed to. You picked a bad time for asking these questions pal, Smite is currently in the middle on all the changes. Oh and as everyone above me has already mentioned, junglers are finally viable. :P

Just have to say welcome back and looking forward to getting to know you etc. Would love a link to your show ;)

So when it comes to the changes made to the game so far (I started playing when they had outer jungle etc, so I have been trough a lot of changes). I have to say that I really love all the changes they have done lately (so I guess this is a good example of how divided the community is). I almost stopped playing when they removed the outer jungle, but after I got used to that all the new changes (except maybe focus and being able to buy stats) have been positive for me. But then again I'm the kind of guy that didn't think Fenrir was terribly broken when he first was released "as long as you lane with a stun its not even a problem" I might have said to ppl who complained (though he was stupidly broken when I look back at it).

When it comes to new gods (except Fenrir who was kind of like Guan Yu when he was released) its just the usual, they seem op because they are new and then they get nerfed a little and everything is okey.

Haven't been able to try out the new map (because I'm on holiday and can't play on my laptop), but what I've seen on streams etc looks awesome.
I have a bad feeling about Shielded Recall rank 3, Blink rank 3 and Teleport scrolls (but my mates said it wasn't as bad as they expected and they just love the new map).

The meta is mostly:
Ad-ranged and support (at the lane close to gf), Mage as mid (mostly ofc you can go ad-ranged/melee to), Jungler (He Ho jungle is back, Thor etc) and a bruiser/someone with good sustain as sololane.

The gameplay is a bit slower and more objective based than it was a couple of months back in time, but the jungler (at least how I see it) makes the gameplay very intense. A lot more intense for 5v5 premades at least (solo queue is kind of awkward, because of the lack of communication).

DMBrandon wants the meta to be 1-2-1 (+jungler)

Can't really think about more atm :)

Jungle & Support main.

Casually tryharding ranked now and again.

Make fun of my bad plays on Twitch ;)

Nothing has changed in regards to side lanes. But ever since Ne Zha, full jungler's have been coming back in style. Also, Bumba's Mask, a jungle item, has caused quite a bit of controversy, shifting the whole game to be more passive.

I wouldn't call the jungler "viable" in this current meta. "Mandatory" would be a better term to use, as your team is at a serious disadvantage now if you don't have a jungler. The recent patch update only made their job that much easier now thanks to fog of war limiting your vision in the jungle, plus increased sound filtering so you can't hear them clearing that buff right next to you from your lane.

Overall, I hate the new jungle meta. It was something the game was never designed around in this first place, and for several months, the game ran in that direction with no complaints. Trying to make it work now requires a complete overhaul of the Conquest game mode in general, a change that I don't recall anyone ever asking for. It's only natural that a lot of us are pissed off, especially because the lack of a jungler role is what made this game stand out from LoL.

Now, the game just feels like it's turning into another copycat and losing its identity. And for what? Just so the game can imitate the biggest MOBA on the block? Sorry, but that's why all of the WoW-clones failed. They tried so hard to be like WoW that they forgot how to stand out, and ultimately failed to draw in significant numbers. Few players will ever ditch the original for a clone, and if SMITE keeps running in this strange new direction, it will eventually become a clone too.
Waiting on a good new MOBA, please.

Alright! I'm hot off the heels from my first game/commentary, and I have to say, the game feels really familiar. I didn't feel the impact of the jungle too much, though I did notice people going in and out of it a lot more, hah. But my point is, I didn't see a giant advantage gained by people who were jungling.

I'm assuming this is because I'm not very keen on the inner workings of SMITE at the moment, but from what I played, it was really enjoyable. I look forward to continue SMITEing!

Also, everybody who took the time to respond to my post, I really appreciated it and it helped me catch up on the latest and greatest of SMITE news.
