Well if its about Xbal, there are reasons for him to step into the battleground. He and his twin brother want to avenge their's father death. I think that Mayan pantheon is a little bit... forgotten? With only two gods... HunBatz and Xbal are only a small part of it. Also I miss Aztec pantheon. It's much better known than for example theese Chineese gods.
To be honest im very curious how HiRez selects god for this game. For Greek pantheon they picked mostly best known and most important gods. For Mayan they picked... well... HunBatz and Xbal are rather Heroes (like Herc) not real gods.
