Jingle hel, father chrishmash, and wreck the halls are available for direct buy now.

Compared to mostly all other moba's Smite is one of the least expensive. I thought you would know that of all people Aedar.

No.

Strife has a 50% gem sale. Smite has 37%.

Other MOBAs like Strife have free champs. Smite's cost something.

Other other MOBAs pay for champs, but they have tiered costs. Smite's all cost the same, even champions like Artemis who nobody uses.

Smite makes you pay a ridiculous amount for any skin, including ones like Sugar and Spice Hel that are essentially recolors with recycled effects from Jingle Hel.

The one single thing that HiRez has done good is the ultimate god pack. Which, to their credit, was a fantastic deal. But if you want to play this game as a free game, it's far more time-consuming than other MOBAs.

And unlike other MOBAs, when they release holiday skins, they don't jack up their prices so that their casino system stays relevant.

Really? Then why is the game free to play, and the only thing you need to buy to be just as successful as everyone else is a one time purchase that lasts forever?

You seem to have missed the point where literally every other MOBA is free to play, and you can get all champions for free in every MOBA eventually.

I can keep on listing examples of HiRez's greed, if you like.

Smite Power Creeps gods, eventually forcing you to buy other gods. They are also the same price. Is Artemis worth the same as Anhur?

In League, you can buy good champions such as Annie or Kayle with three game's worth of free currency. In Smite, you need to play and play and play and play or buy gems.

In addition, not everyone is willing to pay 30+ dollars for the Ultimate God Pack. Smite is pretty similar to those "freenium" games.

League has permanent price reductions of champions, not "sales."

Smite's tiered chest system?

37% gem sale when other MOBAs do 50%?

Increasing skin prices over time to keep them relevant?

The entire Odyssey system?

How League hacked 50% off their Akali champion with her skin, and donated 100% of the earnings to charity? Makes 1$ pale in comparison, doesn't it?

You can't keep stating how Smite is a "free" game when every single other MOBA is also a free game.

People seem to be confusing the fact that a free-to-play game is not a free game.

Yes, you are able to play the game without paying a dime for anything. However, this game wouldn't last a month if nobody spent money on gems. This game does require money to keep it up and running, and where does that money come from? Us, the players. So yes, you and I can play this game without spending any money, but other users do have to give HiRez money so that we can play it for free.

This is why I dislike the argument of "Oh, this is a free game. Stop acting so entitled when they're bringing you a game you don't have to pay for." (no one here has said that, but I've seen this argument countless times). Because no, HiRez is not bringing this game to us out of the kindness of their hearts. If anything, they're getting a hell of a lot more out of it than we are.

So yeah, despite this being a free-to-play game, though not a free game, we do have a right to criticize them when they do what we feel are greedy practices, and yes, this whole thing surrounding the chests could definitely be seen as greedy.
