Hello everyone, this is Madmango here and welcome to my guide on Ymir. Ymir is incredibly tanky, has great crowd control and has a devastating ultimate. Ymir should be in a duo lane with his supportive skills. He can stun, slow and block off escape routes which your buddy will absolutely love you for.
PROS
Ymir is a very tanky god and should be built that way. My Ymir build has items that I find useful to play as Ymir. Gem of Isolation for example to help with his lackluster damage and exaggerate his frostbite slow effect. Feel free to change the build to your preferences.
Starting Items
Level 1 Reinforced Boots, Level 1 Breastplate of Valor, 2 Healing Potions and 1 Mana Potion.

This is my favourite way to start a game as Ymir and I believe the only way you should. Reinforced Boots provide that great speed bonus as well as some nice defence and health regeneration bonuses. Not to mention the passive to reduce crowd control effects duration which is so useful in many situations.

Breastplate of Valor is crucial for that extra mana for Ymir. Because Ymir starts with so little mana, an item with extra mana is necassary. Not only that is has all the mana but it has some very nice physical defence, which is always welcome as Ymir. Lastly the cooldown reduction is great when chasing and you need to lay down the Ice Wall or Frost Breath to catch up.

The Rest of Ymir's Build
Next item is the Gaunlet of Thebes. This item provides HP and health regeneration it is incredible. Provided you get those 80 stacks quickly, it's very hard for an enemy god to kill you from full health. Your best to get this item early to build those stacks up over a period then waiting till the end because of Ymir's rather poor ability to farm. With this item you have almost 4,000 HP at the end of this build, nearly double of what some gods have.

The Gem of Isolation, such a nice item in my opinion with Ymir. That slow only exaggerates the slow on your Glacial Strike skill and provides that awesome power bonus. Not only that but it has some extra health and mana which is always appreciated. This item ensures a great chance on your ultimate hiting after doing the 3-2-4 combo and helps with chasing down enemies.

Hide of the Nemean Lion is a great item. It's cheap and provides some pretty sweet statistics. That physical protection and reflect damage is so good against all melee assasins. Kali, Artemis etc. will have a hard against you with this item.

Lastly the Void Stone. This item is pretty good but can be replaced for the Stone of Gaia for that extra health regeneration. Although it may have the health regeneration, the Void Stone has so much power to help Ymir. Not only does it increase your power but provides some greatly appreciated magical defence. This item can be prioritized over the the Hide of the Nemean Lion if they have a fed mage or are just a mage heavy team.
Now Ymir has a variety of useful abilities although there are some I recommend more then others, especially now that you can only have 2 abilities.
Recommended Abilities
Purification Beads are useful as any god. Not so much on Ymir although it's still an amazing ability and should be in his ability slot, especially if they have an Ares or some other god with some serious crowd control.

Next the movement speed increases/ decreases (Sprint, Heavenly Agility and Creeping Curse). Any one of these is a great ability and it comes down to the situation and preferance. If you get ganked often buy the speed increases, if you can't chase well or need more slow for your ultimate (overkill in my opinion) then buy the Creeping Curse ability. I like the Heavenly Agility ability as Ymir should rarely be taking people on alone and also has a quicker cooldown.

Remember how I said Ymir struggles with Mana? Well meditation can fix all that up. I'm not sure if it justifys the use of an ability slot but it should be considered if you are finding yourself out of mana often. I'm not sure if I would reccommend it but if you don't have something like a Breastplate of Valor then this could be a good buy.

Last but not least the Aegis Amulet. I've never really liked this ability but it's certainly viable to use. I find the most of the time that the Purification Beads can get you out of most situations although the Aegis Amulet has it's uses. You can basically avoid over 1000 damage from ultimates with this although it comes with the downside of not being able to move at all and that's where I dislike it. It may get you out of a ultimate but you really haven't moved and are still in the same situation. I prefer purchasing Heavenly Agility over the Aegis Amulet but it's certainly viable.
